Striving for a success in parallel to the simultaneous attainment of high level of well-being is these days a common phenomenon. For quite a long time it has been also in the focus of the scientific debates and papers also dealing with education. This paper presents the findings of the study on the teachers’ perception of the student success in the context of assessment of selected success determinants and/or indicators. While analysing the theoretical relationship between student's well-being and educational success, 4 selected factors taken from the Buchner (2004) study were considered key to the undertaken research. The results showed that teachers tend to recognize factors related to the student's well-being as indicators of success, which means they perceive it as a result of achievement. Meanwhile the care for the student’s well-being before undertaking an educational task as a success determinant-related situation seems to be less visible.

The aim of four reported research was to study, mainly with the aid of author’s Creative Behaviour Questionnaire (CBQ), the general profile of managers and the small business owners. The main hypothesis was that the success in business is due to special personality disposition called efficacy of personality which is responsible for neutralisation of fear, depletion of internal resources, and for the autonomy of axiological system. Three factors of the CBQ postulated to measure this disposition, namely Strength of Ego, Internal Locus of Evaluation, and Self-realisation were salient in the tested group of subjects. Groups were also tested by means of Buss and Plomin EAS questionnaire, the risk taking, and the well-being questionnaires, as well as transgression’s and readiness to start business scales. The obtained pattern of traits fits well to the hypotheses: leaders are more transgressive, their personalities are more efficient in terms of CBQ model, they are free of anxiety syndromes, are more oriented toward instrumental risk taking.

The aim of this study was to identify specific performance indicators that discriminate the top clubs from the others based on significantly different pitch action performance in the Spanish Soccer League. All 380 games corresponding to the 2008-2009 season have been analyzed. The studied variables were divided into three groups related to goals scored (goals for, goals against, total shots, shots on goal, shooting accuracy, shots for a goal), offense (assists, crosses, offsides committed, fouls received, corners, ball possession) and defense (crosses against, offsides received, fouls committed, corners against, yellow cards, red cards). Data were analyzed performing a one-way ANOVA. Significant differences across sections of the league table were found for the following pitch actions: goals for, total shots, shots on goal, shots for a goal, assists and ball possession. The main findings of this study suggest that top teams had a higher average of goals for, total shots and shots on goal than middle and bottom teams (p<0.05). Bottom teams needed a higher number of shots for scoring a goal than the other groups of teams (p<0.05). Middle teams showed a lower value in assists and ball possession than top teams (p<0.05). In conclusion, this paper presents values that can be used as normative data to design and evaluate practices and competitions for peak performance soccer teams in a collective way.

The interpretation of the notion of success at work on the grounds of contemporary psychology of work and management was presented in the paper. In order to carry out a more thorough analysis of the content of success, the system method of describing ambiguous terms, i.e. a five-factor method of analysis, was applied. The place of the analyzed category among the other basic determinants of human efficiency in the work environment was presented. As an example of the analysis of ambiguous terms, the attempt of a semantic description of the content of a category of „success” and its exemplification in different languages was undertaken.

The primary challenge of the research was to assess the possibility of applying real options reasoning to the process of learning by failure. This study used a multiple case design to answer its research questions. The research sample was chosen using two criteria: (1) numbers of previous ventures and (2) results of the ventures. Twelve novice and habitual, both failed and successful entrepreneurs were chosen. In result of conducted research it was possible to describe the results of the learning by failure process. Additionally factors that facilitate and hinder such learning were identified. Finally, we analyzed how entrepreneurs who have failed in their previous ventures can improve creation of subsequent ones using real options logic.

Wybrano grupę dwunastu przedsiębiorców nowicjuszy i wielokrotnych.

It is generally postulated that visually-impaired students should be in-volved in mainstream study programs, along their sighted co-students. In the context of English Philology, this means that lecturers need to adapt their tutorials, their teaching aids, their techniques and general attitude. It is advocated here that it can be done even when lecturers are not trained in the field of SEN. The success of their students depends largely on the lecturers resourcefulness and creativity, as well as on their willingness to devote extra time to meeting the needs of such students.

In order to respond to all the fast changes that are happening, it is necessary to act quickly and to be adaptable, both from the point of view of organizations and individuals, having necessary knowledge and skill and continually developing human potentials. The year 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic has shown how those changes can happen overnight and create a need for the companies’ transformation. That is the new clear reason for the big interest in researching start-ups. Start-ups are innovative and fast-developing companies, bringing new solutions and new products, and working under extreme uncertainty, therefore, they require specific skills, knowledge, and other competencies of their founders. Competencies, on the other side, are predispositions, knowledge and skills needed to respond and adapt to changes. The aim of the paper is to propose a theoretical model of relationships between start-up founders’ competence potential and outcomes of their ventures. The theoretical model is based on the Upper Echelons Theory presented by Hambrick and Mason (1984) and the scale measuring competence potential of employees in innovative enterprises proposed by Rakowska and Sitko-Lutek (2015). Competence potential of start-up founders is still not researched in depth, so the proposed theoretical method could be used as the practical research methodology.

The aim of this article is to interpret the conditions for, and the content of, a claim for an appropriate disability pension granted due to the reduction of prospects for success in the future (referred to as the third disability pension condition under Article 444 § 2 of the Civil Code). The chosen subject of analysis is primarily justified by the relative lack of attention this disability pension has received in legal literature compared to pensions granted due to other conditions specified in Article 444 § 2 CC. The authors focus on resolving some of the interpretative doubts in the civil law related to the phrase “reduction of the prospects for success in the future”. The derivative conception of legal interpretation serves as the foundation for their analyses. The article posits that a claim for a pension due to the reduction of prospects for success in the future is available to every natural person (including a conceived child) who has suffered a bodily injury or health disorder resulting in a loss of the ability to work (in the broad sense of the term), including the ability to perform household chores and, consequently, the material or financial benefits such work would provide. According to the authors, the provision’s apparent role is to resolve interpretative doubts regarding the pecuniary benefits that the aggrieved party would likely obtain in the future. This likelihood is higher than low or small, but lower than the probability bordering on certainty (or at least very high), which is the usual requirement for lost benefits in order to be granted a disability pension. This result of the interpretation is fully justified in both functional and systemic interpretative directives, as the legislator, to a certain extent, favours the interests of the person who suffered personal injury over those of the entity responsible for the damage.
