Introduction Nowadays, one can observe a developing problem: a rising number of children who are slow to succeed in learning and have difficulties in mastering the school program.Aim of the Study The aim of the paper is to assess the level of hyperactivity in children of preschool and early school age, to analyse factors promoting the formation of hyperactivity during pregnancy and early child development as well as to evaluate reactions of children to emotional stress.Materials and Methods There were 46 5-9 years old children observed under the current research. Parents of hyperactive children were given a questionnaire to be filled out: Connerse test in order to find the factors interfering with the development of the child during the mother's pregnancy and the early period of development of the child. In order to obtain the psychophysiological characteristics of the children and to assess the level of their emotional stress, photoplethysmograms (PPG) of children were taken. Results The results of the reasearch show that rather many hyperactive children experience untoward conditions in their early childhood. They may cause disturbances in the development of the nervous system and result in hyperactive behaviour. Conclusions Hyperactive children have more explicit photophlethismogram data fluctuations in comparison with the control group of children, and they evidence a higher emotional stress level during probation procedures. The older group of children (7-9 years old) succeed more in regulating their emotional state in comparison with the younger group of children.

With visible light video cameras, it is possible to estimate the cardiac pulse, tracking the intensity changes in the image produced by the blood volume variations in the microvascular tissue. This estimation is provided by a measuring technique called remote photoplethysmography (RPPG). In this study we explore the data acquisition of the RPPG using standard video cameras used in personal computers.

Embedding cardiac system sensing devices in wheelchairs is both necessary and attractive. Elders, diabetics, or stroke victims are a substantial group needing permanent cardiac monitoring, without restriction of their already limited mobility. A set of sensing devices was embedded in a wheelchair to monitor the user without his awareness and intervention. A dual-wavelength reflection photoplethysmogram (PPG), and a ballistocardiogram (BCG) based on MEMS accelerometers and on electromechanical film sensors are output by the hardware. Tests were conduced on twenty one subjects, for an immobility scenario. Additional recordings were made for helped propulsion over a tiled floor course, with good results in keeping track of acceleration BCG and PPG. A treadmill was also used for tests, providing a smooth floor and constant speed and inclination. The PPG and acceleration BCG could be continuously monitored in all the tests. The developed system proves to be a good solution to monitor cardiac activity of wheelchair users even during motion.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the most widespread and rapidly growing diseases. With its advancement, DM-related complications are also increasing. We used characteristic features of toe photoplethysmogram for the detection of type-2 DM using support vector machine (SVM). We collected toe PPG signal, from 58 healthy and 83 type-2 DM subjects. From each PPG signal 37 different features were extracted for further classification. To improve the performance of SVM and reduce the noisy data we employed hybrid feature selection technique that reduces the feature set of 37 to 10 on the basis of majority voting. Using 10 selected features set, we gained an accuracy of 97.87%, sensitivity of 98.78% and specificity of 96.61%. Further for the validation of our method we need to do random population test, so that it can be used as a non-invasive screening tool. Photoplethysmogram is an economic, technically easy and completely non-invasive method for both physician and subject. With the high accuracy that we obtained, we hope that our work will help the clinician in screening of diabetes and adopting suitable treatment plan for preventing end organ damage.
