The research process is connected with reflection on the correctness of the conclusions. In qualitative research, which does not use such formalized procedures to assess validity and reliability as quantitative research does, there is a space for discussion about other conditions, on the basis of which to judge the correctness. Qualitative research leads to individual explanations and is grounded in a specific context. The issue of the data context acquires a particularly important meaning and is present at every stage of the research process. This text analyzes the presence of context, referring to language definitions, with examples from ethnographic research conducted in the gymnasium.

Proces badawczy związany jest z refleksją na temat poprawności formułowanych wniosków. W badaniach jakościowych, które nie posługują się tak sformalizowanymi procedurami do oceny trafności i rzetelności jak w badaniach ilościowych, pojawia się przestrzeń do dyskusji nad innymi warunkami, na podstawie których można ocenić poprawność. Badania jakościowe prowadzą do wyjaśnień jednostkowych i ugruntowanych w określonym kontekście. Kwestia kontekstu danych nabiera szczególnie ważnego znaczenia i jest obecna na każdym etapie procesu badawczego. W niniejszym tekście dokonuję analizy obecności kontekstu, odnosząc się do definicji językowych. Podaję przykłady z przeprowadzonych badań etnograficznych w gimnazjum.

The article is the presentation of the work on the upgrading of the test to measure levels of identity in adulthood. The test is based on the theory of identity statuses James Marcia who describes four statuses: identity diffusion, foreclosures, moratorium and achievement. Basic calculations were made with a view to standardization and normalization of questionnaire. This test was designed to research of the teachers' identity in early adulthood. It was also used in studies of young adults with schizophrenia. Currently, studies are ongoing identity of adults from families with different emotional relationships that allow for verification of the calculations.

The article presents theoretical considerations on the changes in the perception of the function and role of the teacher, responding to the dynamics of modern society. The major directions of change may include: prepare learners to be independent of cognitive, inspiring of development, and introduction to the world of knowledge (Kwiatkowska, 2008, p. 41-45). Modern teacher of adult people, to be ready to meet these requirements should be assisted in the process of improvement and self-education, and one of the proposals to prepare them for the new features is the idea of reflective practice. Recent years have shown increased interest in teacher education in the direction of reflective practitioners, mainly through action research. Modern teacher is not only a professional who teaches well, but also creates knowledge. Action research are currently the subject of increasing interest to researchers and the practitioners, because of the possibility of personal development and the efficient movement in an increasingly complex and ambiguous reality.

Discrimination in the discourse of Polish textbooks dedicated to civic education courses

The study presents a critical analysis of visual materials contained in civic education textbooks with the purpose to identify traits of discrimination of individuals with a “skin colour” other than “white”. The undertaken quantitative and qualitative analyses allowed for drawing a conclusion that the depiction of persons in the researched visual material did in fact bear certain traits of discrimination. Moreover, it was concluded that what may be observed is compound discrimination. The studies presented in the article were conducted within a larger-scale project entitled Gender in textbooks.

The paper aims to present the research results concerning the pragmatic dimension of the participation of young people in selected organisations working in Poland and Ukraine. The research was comparative. Data collection involved a search of secondary data sources. All the available documents posted on the websites of the investigated organisations, including their statutes, rules and regulations, reports and accounts covering activities and operations, and social media (Facebook) posts, were analysed. An analysis of the data’s content for the “pragmatic dimension of participation” category led us to three oppositions: public vs private, physical vs virtual and cyclical vs one-time, which the actions of chosen organisations can define. The results show that despite the diff erences in the three oppositions of the pragmatic dimension of participation in Polish and Ukrainian organisations, their mission is similar and boils down to taking all actions aimed at involving young people in developing a more democratic civil society in both countries.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wyników badań dotyczących pragmatycznego wymiaru partycypacji młodzieży działającej w wybranych organizacjach młodzieżowych w Polsce i w Ukrainie. Badania miały charakter porównawczy. Zbieranie danych polegało na przeszukiwaniu wtórnych źródeł danych. Analizie poddano wszystkie dostępne dokumenty zamieszczone na stronach internetowych badanych organizacji, w tym ich statuty, regulaminy, sprawozdania, relacje z działalności oraz wpisy w mediach społecznościowych (Facebook). Metodą indukcyjną dokonano analizy zawartości danych dla kategorii „partycypacja – wymiar pragmatyczny” w trzech opozycjach: publiczna vs prywatna; fizyczna vs wirtualna oraz cykliczna vs jednorazowa. Wyniki pokazują, że pomimo różnic występujących w ramach trzech opozycji wymiaru pragmatycznego partycypacji w organizacjach polskich i ukraińskich, to ich misja jest podobna i sprowadza się do podejmowania wszelkich działań zmierzających do zaangażowania młodzieży w rozwój bardziej demokratycznego społeczeństwa obywatelskiego w obu państwach.
