Purpose: The main objective of the study is to indicate the determinants of taking up and running business by young people. Since the spatial scope of the research covers three countries, the authors aim to answer the question about similarities and differences between these states. In addition, the survey was conducted after the COVID-19 pandemic, hence part of the analysis includes issues related to the assessment of the crisis in terms of the economic activity of the surveyed individuals. Design/methodology/approach: the problem concerns the determinants of young people's entrepreneurial activity. The subject includes also entrepreneurial attitudes of actors under study and their approach to business. The empirical analysis involved students from selected universities in 3 countries: Poland, Romania and North Macedonia. The analysis was conducted using online survey questionnaire. The survey covered a total of 161 respondents. Findings: The students emphasised the role of competition as an element shaping the business environment. This factor influenced the relatively high proportion of those seeing difficulties in opening a new business. They realised that knowledge and education were helpful in achieving success in the market, although financial resources and luck were also important. In the consensus view of respondents, the pandemic increased the risk of operating for entrepreneurs. Research limitations/implications: firstly, the research sample is relatively small (especially for Macedonia) and purposively selected (students), thus the results cannot be representative of the entire population of young people in the selected countries. Secondly, the survey is static and does not indicate trends in the perception of the problem at hand. In the future, it is planned to repeat the analysis on a larger group of respondents in order to eliminate the weaknesses indicated. Originality/value: The article brings elements of originality in the layer concerning the attitudes of young people (students) towards entrepreneurship in a post-pandemic environment. The added value is the comparative analysis of the three countries included in the study.

Study objective: The aim of the study is to assess financial expectations of the students of the Faculty of Management of the Jan and Jędrzej Śniadecki Bydgoszcz University of Technology after graduation and to determine whether the field of study has an impact on salary expectations. The hypothesis was formulated that students of finance and accounting have higher salary expectations than students of other fields. Additionally, it was assumed that 2/3 of the students of this faculty work while studying. The field and level of studies were taken into account. Methods: The study was conducted at the Jan and Jędrzej Śniadecki Bydgoszcz University of Technology. It involved 252 students of the Faculty of Management studying in the following fields: management (hereinafter ZA), management and production engineering (hereinafter ZIP) and finance and accounting (hereinafter FIR). The study was based on the primary data, obtained using a measurement instrument prepared for the needs of the study in the form of an online questionnaire (CAWI), as well as data on the number and structure of students of the Faculty of Management obtained from the University IT Department. Conclusions: The study results show that over 70% of the students take up work while studying. This indicates changes in the labour market, where the market demand for young people with both education and experience is clearly visible. The largest group of respondents, both employed and not working, are students of finance and accounting (first and second-cycle studies). The students of management and production engineering have the highest salary expectations after graduation, while students of finance and accounting have the lowest expectations. Students of management, however, fall between these groups. The salary expectations of finance and accounting students differ from the average salary expectations by PLN 1,334.69, by PLN 1,251.55 (for management students) and by PLN 1,194.76 (for management and production engineering students). Therefore, the largest deviation occurs for finance and accounting students who on average expect lower earnings than students of other fields. For all fields of study, the variation between salary expectations is low, which indicates homogeneity of the population. Interestingly, students of management in the highest percentage do not work in their profession (over 60%). The smallest disproportion between students who work and do not work in their profession exists in the case of finance and accounting students. The largest group working in their profession are students of management and production engineering, followed by students of finance and accounting. Most students, regardless of their cycle, combine work with studying. Among second-cycle students, the largest number of people - over half of the students of management and production engineering, and slightly less than half in the field of finance and accounting work in their profession. Among first-cycle students, the vast majority of respondents, regardless of the field of study, do not take up professional work. There is a relationship between salary expectations and the field of study, and it is statistically significant. This hypothesis was positively verified. Originality: The paper shows on the example of the students of the Faculty of Management of the Jan and Jędrzej Śniadecki Bydgoszcz University of Technology that the vast majority of management and finance students work while studying. The study highlights an extremely important aspect of current studying - combining studies with work, which has been noticed by researchers in Australia (Devlin, James, Grigg, 2008; Creed, French, Hood, 2015), New Zealand (Manthei, Gilmore, 2005) and the USA (Butler, 2007). The article is addressed to universities, in particular those offering courses, such as finance and accounting, management, management and production engineering.

This paper examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the financial situation of students in Poland. The study aims to describe the experiences of students facing the challenges imposed by the pandemic, including disruptions in education, limited job opportunities, and changes in living arrangements. The research on current earnings, expenses and savings was conducted in June 2021 by means of a survey administered to 710 students, aged between 18 and 25, enrolled in various study programmes at higher education institutions in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. The findings indicated that the pandemic had significant negative effects on students’ financial situations, with almost 20% of respondents reporting a worsening of their financial conditions. Many students relied on part-time jobs, which were disrupted due to restrictions. Additionally, the shift to online learning and living with family members caused additional stress and distractions. The findings of the research emphasise the need for targeted support measures to address the challenges faced by students during and after the pandemic, taking into account their diverse backgrounds and attitudes.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to observe and describe undergraduates entering the labour market in Poland and in Georgia and fill the gaps in the literature. Design/methodology/approach: The study uses a structured and self-administered online questionnaire. The population of the Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology, in Poland was 900 active students, and the students of the Tbilisi State University - 4460. Cramér's V was used to check the association between different variables. The questionnaire is in line with the International Labour Organization and the National Statistics Office of Georgia methodology. Findings: The study shows us that the results of two different countries are not as far apart as it would have to be supposed, but Georgian and Polish education system differ toward connection to the labour market. Research limitations/implications: The study uses a short period to collect the data and a small sample. Another limitation of the study is the non-coincidence of the Education System in Poland and Georgia. Moreover, the limitation that may arise is the use of Email surveys that have several limitations, primarily being that they can appear dry and uninteresting. Practical implications: The study can be used by regulators, researchers, scientists, public institutions, and Governments. Originality/value: This is one of the first attempts to analyse data from Poland and Georgia and focuses on undergraduates. The article aims to determine whether there is an association between specific variables. The authors believe that this paper will gain some attention from policymakers and can allow Governments to take action.

A seafarer’s personality is based on three distinct stages in the psychological development of his/her marine self-concept, including self-esteem, i.e., before his/her maritime studies, during maritime studies, and at the time of professional practice on board. In order to be able to work safely on board, a seafarer should be a leader with the necessary marine self-concept, the formation of which is a didactic mission of the MET institutions. The psychological internalization of the marine self-concept of future seafarers, as a value, is analyzed in the pilot study on a cognitive, emotional, and behavioral level with regard to the stages mentioned. Before studying seafaring young people perceive the sea in the direction of recreation and spiritual knowledge. The self-esteem of those who do not raise questions of self-knowledge is not strong. During their studies, maritime students seek professional meaning for themselves in respect of the sea. Their academic feelings are positive, their activities are more mature, and their self-esteem improves. The marine self-concept of the future seafarers during their professional practice on board is dynamic, as they get to know themselves and their suitability for work, try out things and achieve their own professional goals. They feel contentment, pride, and self-worth, as well as safety-related aspirations. Their activities become more appropriate and reliable, and their self-esteem is improved.

BIM is conceived and understood differently depending on the profession and industry. As a technology, process or methodology, it is becoming an everyday part of the work of many engineers who deal with space. Hundreds of thousands of current and future representatives of the broadly defined construction industry (AECOO), which accounts for roughly 1/10 of Poland’s GDP, are educated in the formal education process in full-time, part-time, postgraduate or doctoral programmes. BIM-related knowledge is imparted in various fields of study. Many publications mention the topic of BIM in education. However, they focus their attention on - WHAT to teach. This is undoubtedly very important, yet it is often forgotten HOW important it is to convey this knowledge. This paper undertook an in-depth literature review of the content of teaching BIM theory and practice and the ways in which it is taught. The aim of the paper was to synthesise the latest trends in BIM didactics and present the latest methods and techniques for experiential learning. The good practices presented in the paper can be used by a wide spectrum of didacticians: university teachers, trainers or BIM managers. The previous form of monologue lectures must be abandoned in favour of interactive problem-formulating lectures. Labs or projects, on the other hand, should become a place for problem-solving and pushing the limits of BIM maturity to date. The presenter should create a friendly learning space which, combined with skilful facilitation, will lead to creative concept formation, discovery or breaking through existing dogmas.

Many universities in Poland are based in historic buildings. As public facilities, they must have accessibility for people with disabilities. Therefore, historic buildings undergo regular reconstruction to ensure accessibility on the basis of technical and construction regulations and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. For the purpose of the study, those with exceptional architectural, cultural and historical are presented. The article is concerned with determining the current state of accessibility of selected Polish universities for students with mobility disabilities. The first part of the paper deals with the verification of the background material in the form of statistical data and support programmes for the studied group of users. The second part presents historical information about the historic buildings along with a qualitative analysis of the elements already applied to eliminate architectural barriers. Nine selected historical teaching facilities located both in Warsaw and scattered throughout the country were analysed using the field observation method. The conclusion presents the results indicating the application in the realizations of the principle of rational improvement stating that the preservation of historic value can become paramount to ensuring full accessibility. Still, monuments should be treated individually, and the same applies to disabilities, where each is different and requires individual perception and treatment.

Purpose: At present, one of the most important challenges faced by employers is to find, employ and retain talents. Attracting the best interns can be the way of creating the company’s brand as an attractive employer for Generation Z. The management of an internship programme with good preparation can strengthen the employer’s brand from the close supervision of engaged mentors and managers. The aim of the research is to identify the impact of the assessment of the internships carried out by students on their perception of the employer brand. Design/methodology/approach: The survey has been conducted in Poland in the period 2019-2021 among 789 full-time students in different fields of study. The paper presents a quantitative analysis of the obtained data in the cross-section of the respondent's study level (bachelor’s and master’s). The theoretical part of the article explained the essence of employer branding in a contemporary organisation and the meaning of internships as an employer branding tool for Generation Z. Findings: The answers of respondents reveal that the overall assessment of the internship affects their willingness to work at the given company and to recommend the company to others. The experiences gained during the internship, mentors involvement, and the way the internships are prepared and carried out by the company, have an impact on the assessment of the employer brand and influence the decision of Generation Z to participate in recruitment processes in this company as well as the selection of this employer as the future workplace. Research limitations/implications: The size of the surveyed group does not allow for the formulation of general conclusions. However, the obtained results may be the basis for further in-depth studies on the problem. Similar research could be conducted to establish the opinion of employers and university representatives with a broader consideration of other variables. Practical implications: The conclusions of the study will deliver the enterprises valuable information about the importance of internships for the acquisition and retention of future employees from Generation Z, and building the employer brand in the labour market. Originality/value: The obtained results allowed to fill the research gap concerning the perception of the representatives of Generation Z regarding the student internships in the context of the assessment of employer brand.

The trend towards food that is convenient and quick to consume has resulted in the fact that consumer does not pay attention to the quality and nutritional value of the meal, and its main purpose is to satisfy hunger. Unfortunately, the last two years have forced a change in eating and social habits, which in a way triggered new trends or allowed to reach for the well-known ones that are currently experiencing a renaissance. One such trend is the idea of “Slow Food”. The period of pandemic led to an unexpected and rapid change in people’s behavior, causing sudden changes, ranging from stationary to remote work to a new model of grocery shopping and social contacts. Such large changes in the way of functioning affected many social aspects, so it was decided to check how the pandemic affected eating habits and the perception of the “Slow Food” movement among Polish students. The results of the study confirmed a significant impact of the SARSCoV-2 pandemic on changing students’ eating habits, especially the change in the students’ work and study habits. Moreover, it was confirmed that the idea of “Slow Food” is not well known among students of Polish universities, with a small group of respondents knowing what the aims of the organization are and what the flagship project “Ark of Taste” does.

Consumerism is a very important issue today because of its exponential growth and its influence on the environment. Because of this, numerous movements have appeared that try to focus on slowing down the ecosystems transformation, such as green consumerism. It is very important to recognise the right green behaviour and to know the recommendations for the future in order to improve the present situation. The opinion of young people studying biology may give us some clues about the thinking of slowing consumption. The paper also gives an opinion of scientists’ way of thinking of this.

The aim of this study was to determine the influence of social media on students’ awareness of responsible behaviour during the COVID-19 pandemic. The field study was carried out with a sample of 726 students from Northern Border University. Data were collected from electronically retrieved questionnaires via various communication channels and analysed using hierarchical linear regression. The study found a relationship between the use of social media sites and awareness among students, affected by age differences. With the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, universities face the challenge of ensuring precautionary guidelines to prevent the virus are followed while educating their students, and social media plays a significant role in disseminating this information. Therefore, studying how social media helps develop students’ awareness can contribute to addressing some of the problems faced by decisionmakers in Saudi universities.

The article concerns the opinion on stationary and remote examinations carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic, perceived from the perspective of the assessed students. The study aimed to find out about the students' perspective on remote final and midterm exams at The Maria Grzegorzewska University and to attempt to compare it with the traditional examination. The subject of the research was, among others, the forms of checking knowledge and skills, problems arising during the exams, as well as the way of taking into account the special needs of the exam-takers. The students' opinions on the above-mentioned issues and their preferences regarding the examination situation were taken into account. The research used the method of diagnostic survey. The obtained results indicate that students during remote exams declare a higher level of stress related to potential technical problems, and in the case of stationary examinations the problem is chaos, noise and distraction. Regardless of the form of the exam, a similar percentage of students declare that they do not cheat - 73.53% during full-time exams, 68.49% pass fair during remote exams. The most common form of cheating during remote examinations is the use of previously prepared notes (21.85%), and 2.52% use the help of colleagues.

The pandemic and the resulting limitations, including work carried out by employees over the Internet as part of the so-called home office, changed the nature of work of many employees and their way of using the Internet. As a consequence, people responsible for promotion in enterprises noticed that the marketing focus shifted significantly towards Internet users. The article analyzes whether and how students, as active and potential entrepreneurs, are able to cope in the conditions of the free market, where the ability to identify promising tools of Internet promotion and their effective use is becoming increasingly important. The conducted research clearly shows a growing awareness of the available digital tools supporting marketing processes among students, the potential and active entrepreneurs. The arguments cited by them in favor of using the website as a starting point for any marketing activities – as well as abandoning it completely or giving up other methods of Internet promotion – indicate the ability to adapt to the needs of consumers in accordance with the nature of the activity performed.

Prognozy epidemiologów dotyczące możliwego rozwoju pandemii COVID-19 oraz innych zagrożeń (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, 2021) nie sprzyjają aktywności inwestycyjnej w makro- i mikroskali.

Economic activity requires its participants to adapt to the constantly changing requirements of the business environment. In 2021, in times of increasingly heated disputes on the geopolitical level and uncertainty accompanying the consequences of reforms referred to as the Polish Order, the uncertainty of consumers and entities active in the internal and external market increases. The forecasts of epidemiologists regarding the possible development of the COVID-19 pandemic and other threats (European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, 2021) do not support macro- and micro-scale investment activity. For this purpose, an analysis was made of students of Greater Poland’s universities as potential, active entrepreneurs, coping with the conditions of a free, global market. Their readiness to pursue their own business activity was examined, as well as their knowledge and / or the scale of using networking and crowdfunding platforms. The results of the study were compared with those obtained in a similar study from 2017. The results of the study indicate that young, potential and active entrepreneurs expect a defined and consistent economic policy of the state, especially a transparent way of settling activities and flexible systems of supporting individual industries in crisis situations. Equally important is the preparation and implementation of effective forms of education supporting knowledge and – as a consequence – decision-making processes in the field of running a business.

Content available remote Bezpieczeństwo zdrowotne studentów w czasie trwania pandemii COVID-19
PL
Głównym celem artykułu jest określenie stopnia zagrożeń bezpieczeństwa zdrowotnego studentów w czasie trwania pandemii COVID-19. Główny problem badawczy brzmi: Jak studenci oceniają własny poziom bezpieczeństwa zdrowotnego w czasie trwania pandemii COVID -19? W artykule wykorzystano dwie metody badań: analizę literatury (metoda teoretyczna) oraz analiza wyników badań (metoda empiryczna). Autor po wstępnych rozważaniach uzasadniających ważność podejmowanych problemów, następnie scharakteryzował pojęcie, uwarunkowania i zagrożenia bezpieczeństwa zdrowotnego oraz omówił wyniki badań dotyczące zagrożeń pandemią COVID-19 wśród studentów. Część końcowa artykułu zawiera podsumowanie i wnioski.

The main aim of the article is to determine the degree of threats to the health safety of students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The main research problem is: How do students rate their own health safety during the COVID -19 pandemic? The article uses two research methods: literature analysis (theoretical method) and analysis of research results (empirical method). The author, after preliminary considerations justifying the importance of the undertaken problems, then characterized the concept, conditions and threats to health security, and discussed the results of research on the risks of the COVID-19 pandemic among students. The final part of the article contains a summary and conclusions. Their content proves that online classes have their advantages, but negative judgment definitely prevails. The downside is that the role of social contacts is kept to a minimum. Students do not know each other, do not make friends, do not integrate after classes. They are exhausted and burned out, and the monotony of the day causes strong tension and stress.

The aim of this study was to recognise the expectations of consumers towards isotonic drinks, which was made possible due to the study conducted employing an online survey method. The study group consisted of 162 students. The majority of the consumers surveyed did not consume isotonic drinks, and a large proportion of the drinkers consumed them only occasionally. However, a significant number of students were willing to pay a high price for them, in comparison to the low price of other drinks commonly found on the market. Although fruit flavours were identified as the most preferred flavours of potential beverages, consumers were also interested in new flavours such as tea, herbal, honey and nut. Depending on their declared gender and year of study, respondents indicated different packaging preferences. Interest in purchasing beverages based on natural ingredients and colourants was observed among the students.
