Influence of CO2 pulsed microsecond laser on two-photon absorption (TPA) at wavelengths of Nd:YAG (1060 nm and 1320 nm) and Er glass lasers (1540 nm) for As2Se2S glasses was studied. Dependence of the TPA versus the photoinducing power densities at wavelength 9.2 ?m is studied. The highest values of the TPA ? coefficient were achieved for perpendicular polarizations between the pumping and probing laser beams. The obtained values of TPA coefficients indicate a possibility of using the As2Se2S glasses as optically-operated IR laser limiters in a wide spectral range. The substantial role of anharmonic electron-phonon subsystem is demonstrated.

Content available remote Magnetic interlayer coupling across parabolic quantum-well
EN
A qualitatively different mechanism of magnetic oscillations with non-square quantum wells has been found compared to the conventional magnetic superlattices which are formed of quantum wells with rectangular potential profiles In our contribution we will present theory of interlayer coupling in the case of parabolic quantum-well system. Contrary to the conventional models based on perturbative or total energy approaches we exploit the similarities of the quasi-2D electron gas oscillations within parabolic quantum well to the de Haas-van Alphen effect. We derive formula for the interlayer coupling parameters as the function of potential barrier heights and the nonmagnetic layer thickness. Applications of the results obtained to the description of real systems will be widely discussed.

Content available remote Infrared second-order nonlinear optical effect in Sb2Te3-SrBr2-PbCl2 glass
EN
A phenomenological and microscopic theory of IR picosecond nonlinear optical response in glass is developed for the middle IR spectral range (5-15 um). Both IR-induced second harmonic generation (SHG) as welt as linear electrooptic effect (LEOE) were observed. The observed effects are explained within a framework of fifth-order nonlinear optical susceptibilities. A model that reproduces the basic features of the experimental data, in which are discovered the optical nonlinearities caused by photoinduced electron-phonon anharmonic interactions, is proposed. The role of the IR induced phase matching conditions in the observed phenomena is discussed.

The SiCxNy films were synthesized using a technique of chemical evaporation at low pressures. Films with thickness varying between 8 and 24 nm and with an N/C ratio between 0.1 and 1.5 were obtained. The stoichiometry of these films was measured after their deposition on Si(111) substrates using an extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) method. Distances between C–Si and C–N atoms, as well as the molecular dynamics simulations, were done. A comparison of the experimentally obtained and molecular dynamics optimized geometry structure is done. Exchange-correlation potential within a framework of the local density functional approach gives the similar C–Si and C–N bond distances as with inclusions of the non-local many-body screening potential. At the same time pressure derivatives within the local density approach agree better with experimental data.

In the metallic superlattices interface roughness and restraint conditions imposed on the motion of free electrons may result in nonintegral dimensionality of the system. In our contribution we will derive formulae for the interlayer coupling in a superlattices with self-similar interfaces, assuming, that the spectral dimension of electron gas within the metallic spacers is integral.

We give theoretical description of vibrational of vibronic excitations in the elastic system which exhibits fractional dimension. Using the fractional calculus formalism, we find eigenfunctons and eigenvalues of elementary vibronic excitation in a elastic system of non-integral dimension. Comparison with the prperties of the conventional integer dimension systems are well as applications in a superlattices in a superlattices are widely discussed.

Experimental results shown that some metallic superlatices and overlayers exhabit dimensional cross-over behave as system of fractional dimension, when the layer thickness is increased. We derive formulae for thr RKKY-reminiscent interaction between localised magnetic moments in the metalic system of fractional dimension.
