The article presents the history of research into the quality of electric products produced in Poland from the beginning of the electrical industry. The first problems concerning the quality and standardisation were analysed as early as at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The appropriate systemic approach was adopted in 1919 when the Association of Polish Electricians was set up; now there are over 23,000 members in the organisation and soon it will be celebrating its 100th anniversary. After presenting the period before the Second World War, the author concentrates on research and the qualitative determination in the years 1945-2004. Another period presented in the article is the one after Poland had joined the European Union; here the reader will also find a description of the currently used research methods and their impact on the countries of Western Europe. There is also a list of the certified labs in which research and assessments are being carried out in the field of electricity. The Polish Economic Chamber of Electrical Engineering, organisation of the economic local government for production companies, thanks to its involvement and in cooperation with State’s bodies supervises the brands of the Polish producers in the field of the electrical engineering industry.

High voltage varistors that consist mainly of grained ZnO have to be tested before assembling into a surge arrester. The existing methods demand a usage of high voltages and intensive currents that is inconvenient, destructive and needs extensive power consumption. Additionally, these methods require metallization of the prepared varistor structures that increases costs. We propose another method of varistor quality assessments by a third harmonic index measurement at relatively low voltage range. In this experimental study it has been proved that the proposed procedure can be applied successfully for preliminary selection of the tested structures.

Badania wykonywano na dwóch elementach, "model I", dla którego formatem wyjściowym był model zapisany jako .stl a na jego podstawie wykonano element fizyczny i określano dokładność wykonania, oraz element "model II", dla którego wyjściowym był plik CAD. W badaniach określono dokładność wykonania wymiarów liniowych, kątowych jak i promieni.

The paper presents a part of investigation witch main goal is determination of FDM rapid prototyping method and printing parameters on quality of manufactured elements. The eva!uation needs measurements of geometrical accuracy, comparing measured values to nominal values (dimensions in CAD model). Carried out experiments show, that FDM method makes possible to obtain geometrical accuracy of linear dimensions about 0,1 mm and angle accuracy about 0,4 °.

Purpose: The paper presents an example of the application of the complex quality control process and shows the advantages of such approach. Moreover it presents the analysis of a specific manufacturing process of rings of train wheels. Design/methodology/approach: In the presented works it has been presented a holistic approach to the process engineering. The investigations in the manufacturing plant and laboratory test allow showing the results of a complex quality control. Findings: Results confirm the importance of the new process engineering which links the traditional approach with the modern quality control. Also it proves that the quality control system must cooperate with the training system. Research limitations/implications: The investigation area has been limited to one industry plant. It was considered with the fact that the analyzed process is a much specified one. This situation doesn't make possible to compare results with the other data. The second limitation is considered with the commercial secret (some data is omitted). Practical implications: First main practical results could be described as elaborating the methodology of quality assurance of the specific and rare manufacturing processes. Secondly the paper shows how to link the technical and human factors in one integrated process. Originality/value: Firstly this paper presents the analysis of a very rare manufacturing process what is valuable of both scientific and educational points of view. Secondly it shows how to organize the rare production process with a complex quality control.

Purpose: The aim of this paper is present the role of quality control operations in such a complex manufacturing process like plastic forming. Nowadays classical manufacturing process management is replaced with total quality management philosophy. Design/methodology/approach: The presented results base on the investigations conducted in manufacturing plants of heavy industry. Next the results of researches have been compared with requirements of quality standards. Findings: Results obtained in the work point the importance of a system of continuous quality monitoring and of quality control operations. Moreover the improvement in quality management is directly related with the corporate image. Research limitations/implications: The presented results base on the analysis of manufacturing processes of steel mills and are considered with the process of plastic forming and related processes. It must be stated that some technological parameters are confidential. Practical implications: The practical implication of the work is considered with the proposal of a scheme of quality control operations in a manufacturing process of plastic forming. This scheme could be used as a remark showing the proper manufacturing process planning. Originality/value: The work presents the analysis of manufacturing processes for heavy industry according the quality assessment what is rather a lateral problem in quality analysis.

Jakość systemu alarmowego jest wyrażana przez klasę zabezpieczenia, która zależy od właściwości użytego sprzętu (klasa 1. jest podstawową, przeznaczoną dla zastosowań o małym ryzyku, a klasa 4. najwyższą, przeznaczoną do obiektów wysokiego ryzyka włamania). Zastosowanie techniki połączeń radiowych spowodowało dodanie nowych kryteriów oceny jakości dla każdej klasy zabezpieczenia, w celu zapewnienia właściwej odporności systemów bezprzewodowych na zakłócenia mogące pogorszyć transmisję i przetwarzanie danych. Quality of the alarm systems is determined by security grading which depends on performances of the equipment used (grade 1 is the basic dedicated for small risk and grade 4 is the highest dedicated for big risk of intrusion). Application of the radio frequency techniques in alarm systems caused the addition of the new quality criteria in each security grade to provide correct immunity of wireless systems on disturbance able to impair transmission and processing of data. The paper presents criteria for immunity to: attenuation of signals, collisions between alarm and monitoring messages, interference, component and message substitution. Requirements for links monitoring and detection of interference are presented. The rules of the UE directive conformity assessment of those systems are described, too.

Światowe trendy budowy rurociągów przesyłowych ropy i gazu coraz częściej pokazują przykłady praktycznego wykorzystania określania dopuszczalnych niezgodności spawalniczych w oparciu o podstawy mechaniki pękania i próby CTOD. Takie podejście pozwala precyzyjnie określić zachowanie rurociągu w założonych warunkach eksploatacji. The paper presents new possibilities related to quality assessment of girth welds quality. Global trends in oil and gas pipelines construction point at growing application of methods where fracture mechanics and CTOD tests are used for critical defect size determination. Such approach precisely determines pipeline exploitation at given conditions. The most important benefit of that is the dependence of critical defect size on the quality of pipe material and welding consumable mechanical properties.

The article addresses the application of the FMEA method in the process of selection of inspecting-sorting devices. Special attention is paid to typical modules employed in the structure. Advantages and disadvantages of the modules used in the research are discussed.

Objective: to develop and test inter-observer reproducibility of instructions for authors quality rating (IAQR) tool measuring the quality of instructions for authors at journal level for a possible improvement of editorial guidelines.Material and methods: instructions for authors of 75 dental and maxillofacial surgery journals were assessed by two independent observers using assessment tool inspired from AGREE with 16 questions and 1 to 4 points scale per answer. Two observers evaluated the instructions of authors independently and blind to impact factor of a given journal. Scores obtained from our tool were compared with “journal impact factor 2013”. Results: IAQR presented with an excellent interobserver reproducibility (κ= 0.81) despite a difference in data distribution between observers. There existed a weak positive correlation between IAQR and “journal impact factor 2013”. Conclusions: The IAQR is a reproducible quality assessment tool at the journal level. The IAQR assess the quality of instruction for authors and it is a goodstarting point for possible improvements of the instructions for authors, especially when it comes to their completeness. Nemesis relevance: 28% of dental and maxillofacial journals might revise their instructions for authors to provide more up-to-date version.

Przedstawiono ogólne informacje o przemyśle kruszyw w Polsce i o bazie zasobowej. Dokonano porównawczej analizy jakości. Analizie poddano 100 asortymentów kruszyw, wyprodukowanych przez 95 producentów. Kruszywa badano w IMBiGS w latach 2006-2010. Do analizy przyjęto wyniki uzyskane dla frakcji 8/16. Badane kruszywa reprezentowały wszystkie typowe rodzaje kruszyw produkowanych w Polsce. W analizie uwzględniono podstawowe właściwości technologiczne kruszyw, takie jak odporność na rozdrabnianie, odporność na ścieranie, odporność na polerowanie, odporność na ścieranie, odporność na szok termiczny, nasiąkliwość i mrozoodporność. Uzyskane wartości zostały odniesione do wymagań norm PN-EN 12620 i PN-EN 13043. Odniesiono jakość kruszyw do oczekiwań wynikających z potrzeb planowanych inwestycji. Przedstawiono możliwość rozszerzenia bazy surowcowej poza tradycyjnie stosowane materiały.

General information of aggregates industry and resources base has been presented. Comparative quality analysis has been done. The analysis involved 100 ranges of aggregates produced by 95 companies. The aggregates have been tested by IMBiGS in the years 2006-2010. For the analysis, accepted results concerned fraction 8/16. The research were representative for all types of aggregates produced in Poland. The analysis involved basic technological properties of aggregates such as resistance to crushing, grindability, thermal shock resistance, absorbability and freeze resistance. The values gained for particular properties have been related to Standards PN-EN 12620 and PN-EN 13043. The quality of Polish made aggregates has been presented basing on the tests results. The quality of the aggregates has been related to the expectations connected with planned investments. The possibility of expanding raw materials base beyond traditional applied materials has been presented.

Purpose: The pipeline production is one of major processes in shipbuilding industry. Quality improvement and risk assessment in this process can yield significant savings, both in terms of internal quality costs as well as in terms of customer satisfactions. Design/methodology/approach: Shipbuilding pipeline production quality improvement has been carried out by application of FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) method. For the successful implementation of FMEA method it is necessary to identify process failure modes or possibility of the appearance of non-compliance, as well as their possible causes. For qualitative analysis of key input variables of the process, in the paper is used Ishikawa diagram and p-chart. Findings: It is shown that proposed approach to risk assessment in shipbuilding pipeline production is applicable to real casa scenario. The analysis has identified the points in the process with the highest probability of occurrence of nonconformities, or the highest risk for error. Research limitations/implications: As the experimenting has been conducted in shipyard, within production process, research schedule must have been set in accordance with production pace. Also, due to character of production process the data collecting was adopted to the production plan in that particular moment. Practical implications: Dealing with causes of potential nonconformities in the process can significantly contribute to the reliability and robustness of the process. Corrective actions that have been taken based on results of analysis significantly contributed to the level of quality in the pipeline production process. Originality/value: The pepper is dealing with a well known method applied in different production environment that are mostly conservative in production approach. It was shown that successful application of proposed approach can yield benefits especially in improved quality of produced pipelines within shipbuilding industry.

Przeprowadzono ocenę prowadzenia robót strzałowych w kopalni margli kredowych. Jej celem było ustalenie technologii urabiania, która doprowadziłaby do zmniejszenia poziomu generowanych drgań sejsmicznych oraz zasięgu rozrzutu odłamków skalnych, przy jednoczesnej poprawie efektywności strzelania w tym zwiększeniu objętości zabierki i optymalizacji ładunku MW. Integralną częścią pracy było stworzenie trójwymiarowego modelu urabianej partii złoża oraz zaprojektowanie serii strzałowych z uwzględnieniem zabioru. Na podstawie wyników badań z zaprojektowanych serii strzałowych podano szereg wytycznych prowadzących do poprawy efektywności urabiania.

Evaluation of blasting operations was performed in a mine of chalk-marls. The main objective was to obtain proper rock breaking technology aiming at decrease of seismic vibrations and rocks spread with simultaneous improvement of blasting efficiency. An integral part of the study was to prepare 3D model of exploited deposit as well as designing of blasting series including burden. On the basis of obtained results, several guidelines aiming at increase of blasting operations efficiency have been proposed.

Badania wizualne złączy z tworzyw termoplastycznych nie dają pełnej informacji o stanie wykonanego połączenia. Zachodzi zatem konieczność uzupełnienia badań wizualnych o nieinwazyjne metody objętościowe. Z tego powodu, podjęto próbę wykorzystania badań radiograficznych do kontroli złączy spawanych z tworzyw sztucznych. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, że radiografia przemysłowa może stanowić standardową metodę oceny jakości takich połączeń.

Visual inspection of thermoplastic joints does not give the complete information about their state. Then, there is the necessity to supplement the visual inspection with noninvasive volumetric methods. For that reason an attempt was made to use radiographic examination for inspection of welded joints in thermoplastics. The tests have shown that the industrial radiography can be the standard method for the quality assessment of such joints.
