Przedstawiono podstawowe założenia analizy topografii powierzchni. Omówiono sposób doboru powierzchni odniesienia dla powierzchni nominalnie płaskich oraz zakrzywionych, a także krótko scharakteryzowano parametry i funkcje stosowane w ocenie stereometrycznej. Pokazano różnice występujące pomiędzy wybranymi parametrami w ujęciu 2D i ich odpowiednikami w ujęciu 3D. Istotność tych różnic nie pozwala na właściwą ocenę powierzchni analizowanej na podstawie profilu.

The paper briefly presents basic assumptions of surface topography analysis. A procedure of choosing reference tables for both nominally flat as well as nominally curved surfaces is shown. Besides, parameters and functions used in three dimensional analysis are shortly characterized. The differences between some of the parameters in two and three dimensional approaches are described. The significance of these differences makes it impossible to properly assess a surface from a single profile only.

The article attempts to define the category of publication efficiency in science, and in this context to determine the strength of connections between financial outlays, the number of academic staff and the number of publications on the Web of Science at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Reference data are established by the indexes compiled analogously at the Polish national level. The obtained results suggest a positive trend in publication efficiency at both the national and NCU levels. However, the differences between faculties and disciplines are significant. Moreover, analysis makes it possible to say that the developed measures constitute a good, synthetic source of information.

The article presents the results of the parametric assessment of research units in the field of pedagogical research carried out in 2017. It outlines the principles and parameters of the assessment and its conditions. This area is covered by science metrics – a new field of comparative research in scientific communication. The article further presents new indicators for the analysis of source documents and proposes a conclusion that is relevant for the modernization of the state scientific policy and the policy of particular organizational units of universities and research institutes.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki oceny parametrycznej jednostek naukowych z obszaru badań pedagogicznych z roku 2017. Przybliżono zasady i parametry oceny i jej uwarunkowania. Tą problematyką zajmuje się naukometria – nowa dziedzina badań porównawczych w obszarze komunikacji naukowej. Ukazano nowe wskaźniki analizy dokumentów źródłowych. Zwieńczeniem analizy są wnioski istotne do modernizacji praktyki z zakresu polityki naukowej państwa oraz polityki poszczególnych jednostek organizacyjnych uczelni jak też instytutów badawczych.
