In the innovation rankings, Poland scores low, and the results of research indicate that the weakest link in this field are the companies. For the companies catching up with the world’s best, the possibility to obtain specific benefits from the relative underdevelopment as a result of application of intelligent techniques and strategies is particularly important. They allow for the achievement of satisfactory results at a reasonable cost and limited risk. The article discuses selected strategies of the companies concerning implementation of the advanced technologies, which may be an alternative to the risky and capitalintensive strategy of technological leadership. They are defined as “intelligent”, because they aim at reducing the costs and risks incurred, and at the same time, they make use of the advantages resulting from the delayed integration with the global technological race. Such “resourceful strategies” include: strategy of innovation of “technological spatter hunters” and cooperative technological internationalization.

The article deals with the normative patterns of communication of judges in a theoretical perspective. Their identification is thus taken as a universal problem, occurring in all legal cultures and regardless of current disputes concerning them. It is assumed that normative patterns of communication among judges are built on the understanding of the role of the judge and the place of the judiciary within checks and balances. Based on the assumption that the role of judges and the status of the judiciary have evolved, three successive historical models of judicial communication were proposed, i.e. the first model – impersonal, the second – self restrained, and the third – accurate communication. The thesis was also put forward that the last of the models may prove to be inadequate in the face of contemporary challenges, resulting primarily from cultural changes driven by the development of new communication technologies.

Logistics and forecasting of changes should be permanent elements of logistic activity. This requires the observation of new conditions for logistics as well as its multifaceted analysis, i.e. the perception of mutual relations and impact. New logistics concepts resulting from technological development will be created. One of the new solutions is the concept of Industry 4.0, the implementation of which can generate innovative solutions and long-term effects on the industry, including significantly production logistics.

The consortium SPP MiG participated the NGCP challenge organised by Singapore Maritime Institute and the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore. The main idea of the concept is based on the condition of 80 % transhipment cargo at the terminal. This kind of transhipment hub requires an immense sorting effort of all boxes discharged from vessels and to be loaded on other vessels. Thus the consortium decided to build a terminal around a sorting machine as the heart of all operation. The technology for this sorting area is based on the Linear Motor Transfer Technology, which is also used for the Transrapid airport connection in Shanghai. Simulation studies, executed with the CHESSCON suite, proved that this concept is able to achieve the targets given by the organisers. Within this paper the concept is presented with the technologies used for discharging/loading, horizontal transportation, stacking and sorting the containers on the terminal. Furthermore some ecological aspects will be discussed.

The exponential growth of technological advancements creates an environment in which the traditionally conceived cognitive enhancement – education – must constantly redefine itself in the face of the invasive presence of A.I., the social media and various biotechnologies that strive to augment the effect-oriented performance. Whereas on the conceptual level there is a visible shift from the static to flow-modelled education, and the rising trend to invest in the skills like flexibility and creativity, not many of emerging technologies are seriously considered as educational tools. The paper looks into the varieties of cognitive enhancement within educational context. Of major concern are the already available technologies of collective intelligence and nootropics, as well as experimental dowloadable learning. I review the problems occasioned by these technologies, as well as the existing solutions, which tend to incorporate rather than exclude the possibilities of radical cognitive enhancement.

Some  universities in  Central and Eastern Europe are facing a crisis of identity.  Academic institutions have for centuries   developed  independence,  liberal education and independent research.  Freedom and independence have  always been essential   for  the quality of academic work.  Thanks to this , scholars and scientists  were restricted only by  their own ignorance, which in its  turn , was restricted by experience. It meant that the age of the scholar was usually connected to his knowledge. The older scientist had to be smarter and wiser.

The article is a summary of the research conducted for educational purposes with the participation of students from the University of Technology in Lublin in Poland, on the design and use of facilities created as smart home (SH). The increasing availability of smart building equipment systems is associated with their widespread use and reasonable price. New technologies, which are the result of scientific and technological progress, make it possible to use the devices to raise the standard of habitation and use of buildings. The creation of SH facilities nowadays is not only limited to single-family buildings. More and more often we observe smart multi-family and public utility buildings. At the same time, we are aware of the design of energy self-sufficient facilities, which allow us the freedom to build in undeveloped areas.

Nowe technologie, będące wynikiem postępu naukowo-technicznego umożliwiają wykorzystanie urządzeń do podniesienia standardu zamieszkania i użytkowania budynków. Tworzenie obiektów SH w dzisiejszych czasach nie ogranicza się tylko do budynków jednorodzinnych. Coraz częściej obserwujemy inteligentne budynki wielorodzinne i użyteczności publicznej. Jednocześnie jesteśmy świadomi projektowania obiektów samowystarczalnych energetycznie, które dają nam swobodę budowania na terenach niezainwestowanych.

Al-Jazari was a 12th Century Turkish Scientist, Engineer and writer. His full name was Badi Al-Zaman AbulI-Izz Ibn Ismail Ibn Al-Razzaz Al-Jazari. He lived in Diyarbakir region in Turkey (1206 AD). As his town name is Cizre, the modern Turkish scripting of Jizra , his last name is known as Jazari (Uzun, 1997). Badi Al Zaman means “prodigy of the Age” and was applied to other well-known men (Hill, 1974). He served the Artuks a Seljuks dynasty in Diyarbakir, as a chief engineer – as did his father before him. He invented the crankshaft and some of the first mechanical clocks, driven by water and weights- used water power. He authored and drawed 60 inventions in his book "Al-Jami Bain Al-Ilm Wal-Amal Al-Nafi Fi Sinat'at Al-Hiyal" (The Book of Know-ledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices). Kitab al-Hiyal is an interesting work on automatic control mechanism, fountains, devices, pipes, valves and siphons. The importance and originality of Kitab al-Hiyal is due to its being an earlier example of the automatic control studies in the history. There are a number of manuscripts of Jazari’s work in Oxford, Leiden, Paris, Dublin and Ýstanbul. Equally cranks may have first been documented by Al Jazari – 300 years before western engineers achieved this (Francesco di Giorgio Martini and Leonardo Da Vinci). He used some kind of symbols for understanding of his drawings like using of electronic circuits. We found that his machine drawings and manufacturings quite qualified understanding (http://orionrobots.co.uk/tiki-index.php?page=Al+Jazari). The aim of this study is to review and examine Al Jazari’s drawings and then, to compare and examine with the new technology period.

The purpose of the article is to present Maria Montessori’s pedagogy and her concepts included in contemporary integrated education which uses modern teaching technologies. Methods: The author relies on her own research and takes account of the source literature. She uses the diagnostic survey method. Results: The author analyzes the situation of early school education and the use of new technologies by teachers. Primarly, the report of her research was applied. The data analysis results show that the vast majority of teachers undertook to implement new technologies into education, but unfortunately on a rare basis, and the group that uses these devices in education most frequently and undertakes training is early school and pre-school education teachers. In addition, the author, based on the obtained research results, presented examples of educational solutions that could combine Maria Montessori’s pedagogy and new technologies. Conclusions: The purpose of the article is to present Maria Montessori’s pedagogy and her concepts included in modern integrated education which uses modern teaching technologies. Therefore, efforts were made to diagnose the range of application of modern technologies in integrated education. Determining the involvement of teachers in the organization of the teaching process with the use of new technologies is important because not all teachers have IT education. This issue was mentioned in the quantitative research conducted among teachers in 2021. In addition, the author, based on the obtained research results, presented examples of educational solutions that could combine Maria Montessori’s pedagogy and new technologies. Teachers should update their knowledge on didactic innovations that improve the process of gaining information about the world and follow those aspects which determine the behaviour and needs of students nowadays. I have presented in this article a method to combine educational ideas which are centuries apart.

The goal of the article is to show the changes in the competencies required of employees that have been brought about by globalisation processes. The issue is shown against the larger framework of implementing modern technologies, especially information and communication technologies, in enterprises, sectors, and entire economies. Given this goal, changes in employee competencies established as a result of exogenous factors, in this case of the technology-push effect, are discussed. Modern technologies implemented in enterprises or particular sectors of the economy (such as the automatisation of production processes and administrative and office work) pose new requirements for workers, create new positions while eliminating existing ones, and lead to, in some sections of particular organisations or sectors, changes in the competencies required of workers. In the conclusions of the paper it is shown that, as a result of technological advancement, the demand for new skills is growing.

The aim of the article is to identify and assess the state of knowledge in the field of using and supporting Industry 4.0 technologies for the development of companies' strategic agility. In particular, it is of keen interest how the individual Industry 4.0 technologies selected by the authors support the attributes that contribute to strategic agility. The article uses a systematic literature review (SLR), and strives in a rigorous and reliable manner to organize knowledge of the use of Industry 4.0 technology in the development of strategic agility. The systematic review research procedure consists of a five-stage approach, including: formulation of the research questions and determination of the research objective, selection of the literature sample, evaluation of the identified papers, data analysis and synthesis, and reporting on the results. The applied research method allowed for synthesis and consolidation of the existing scientific achievements in the field of supporting Industry 4.0 technologies in the development of strategic agility in companies, as well as indication of the most desirable directions for further research. Simultaneously, the research results allowed a reasonable context for future research to be defined. The literature clearly indicates a scarcity of papers in the field of linking Industry 4.0 with the agility of companies, as well as a lack of information on the state of research in this area, both in theoretical and empirical terms. There is a noticeable shortage of studies identifying which Industry 4.0 technologies support the development of strategic agility, to what extent and in what aspects.

Cybersecurity is closely related to the issue of artificial intelligence. The starting point for its presentation in the EU perspective seems to be the Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions entitled „Artificial Intelligence for Europe”. This communication was preceded by the European Economic and Social Committee’s own-initiative opinion „Artificial intelligence: the impact of artificial intelligence on the (digital) single market, production, consumption, employment and society”. In the body of this opinion, the European Economic and Social Committee concluded that there is no single accepted and rigid definition of artificial intelligence.
