W dydaktyce przekładu identyfikacja i analiza błędów służą wyrobieniu i doskonaleniu umiejętności translatorskich. Temat zaprezentowano na materiale tłumaczeń prawniczych w parze językowej polski–rosyjski.

This article considers the issue of language transfer in translation. External interference is one of the most common reasons behind the lack of equivalence between the source text and the target text. Negative transfer leads to the lack of linguistic correctness as well as to modifying or altering the meaning of the translated text. In the didactics of translation, the rationale behind identifying and analysing linguistic errors is to develop and improve translation skills. The issue in focus is presented based on translations of legal texts in the Polish–Russian language pair.

This article discuses the results of a questionnaire on English-German false-friend pairs, carried out among four groups of respondents. The first three groups included Polish students of German and English Studies at the University of Rzeszow, while the last one consisted of native speakers of German. The respondents stated that their knowledge of false friends in both languages was good or even profound, however, the results obtained in the practical part of the questionnaire seemed to diverge from their declared knowledge. This suggests the need to pay greater attention to the phenomenon of false friends in foreign language teaching.

Although a lot has been written about the interference of other languages different from the mother tongue in learning a new foreign language, the observation of the signs of this phenomenon in a specific group of students may still lead to interesting conclusions. A study on other languages interference performed in 2011 regarding students attending the 1st course of Spanish Philology at the Jagiellonian University, has revealed an important change in the characteristics of this group of learners in comparison to the one analysed in 2003. The evolution may be attributed to the change in the political situation of the country in the international arena and also to the politics of education in Poland. Besides, it has been proved that for the correct interpretation of the data, it is essential to take into consideration the whole context of the study, i.e. not only the languages learned before, but also those studied simultaneously. Another key factor is the number of languages known by the investigator himself. The samples of interference gathered during the study can be discussed in order to find the possible ways to prevent this phenomenon before it occurs.

The article deals with phonetic mistakes made by the students of Polish at The University of Veliko Turnovo (Bulgaria). The research covers over 50 students who studied Polish in 2008–2012, with the main focus on the recurrent mistakes and their sources. Language interference is the cause of the most frequent mistakes, such as the reduction of unstressed vowels, the confusion of [ł], [l] i [ṷ], the reduction in articulation of the geminates into one short sound, incorrect palatalisation or dispalatalisation of consonants. Another source of these mistakes lies in the difficulties in recognition and articulation of sounds that do not exist in Bulgarian: nasal vowels, [y], alveolo- palatals [ś], [ź], and the affricates [ć] and [1].

More than two million people emigrated from Poland after the accession to the European Union. Most of them were young, and future parents. In the coming years, Polish diaspora will grow by several thousand children born outside of their parents’ homeland. These children will, and already do, face the necessity of reconciling the awareness of their Polish roots with the need to find their place inside the community of the country they live in. Language is the key both to their inherited culture, and to the culture of the host community. Polish, and the language of the dominant society. A generation of diaspora is now growing, that was immersed from birth in two languages and two cultures. It is the task of the parents, of the teachers, and of the Polish state, to make bilingualism the wealth of these children, and of both of their homelands. Well-planned work with parents is necessary, but most of all, an accurate identification of the mechanisms of linguistic interference in the conditions of life in two languages should be thoroughly investigated.
