The purpose of the study, carried out in the years 2001–2003 was to determine which fungal species inhabited decaying grapevine cuttings during callusing and soon after planting them into pots. The plant material was collected from 5 commercial plantations and 8 cultivars, which were most frequently cultivated. From each plantation and cultivar 20 cuttings with symptoms of the growth inhibition or decay were randomly sampled during the callusing period i.e. March/April (term I) and 2–3 months after planting the cuttings into pots i.e. June/July (term II). The results showed that from affected grapevine cuttings Phomopsis viticola, Botrytis cinerea, Alternaria alternata and Fusarium spp. were isolated most frequently. Moreover, it was found that after planting young cuttings into the pots, numerous isolates of soil borne pathogenes were obtained, among others Cylindrocarpon spp., Phytophthora sp., Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium spp.

Celem badań prowadzonych w latach 2001–2003 było określenie gatunków grzybów zasiedlających zamierające sadzonki winorośli, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem gatunków fylosferowych. Do badań wytypowano 5 szkółek produkcyjnych, w różnych regionach Polski i 8 najczęściej uprawianych odmian. Z każdej plantacji i odmiany analizowano po 20 sadzonek z objawami zahamowania wzrostu lub zamierania. Próby pobierano w czasie kalusowania, tj. marzec/kwiecień (termin I) oraz po 2–3 miesiącach od wysadzenia roślin, tj. czerwiec/lipiec (termin II). Wykazano, że pędy zamierających sadzonek winorośli zasiedlały najczęściej Phomopsis viticola, Botrytis cinerea, Alternaria alternata i Fusarium spp. Ustalono, że łozy mateczne są głównym źródłem infekcji młodych roślin. Z korzeni badanych sadzonek uzyskiwano liczne gatunki przeżywające w glebie, m.in. Cylindrocarpon spp., Phythophthora sp., Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium oxysporum i F. solani.

The paper presents the possibilities of energy management of residues from the cultivation of grapes of the ‘Regent’, ‘Rondo’ and ‘Seyval Blanc’ cultivars. The research was conducted in southeastern Poland in the Sandomierska Upland in 2022. The aim of the research was to demonstrate the influence of grape variety on yield capacity in relation to the extraction of biomass residues in the form of leaves. An attempt was made to identify the variety that is characterised by obtaining the most effective and average parameters, i.e. yield size and quality, leaf mass and surface area, and their impact on energy and fuel parameters. The study analysed the following crop parameters, i.e. number and mass of grapes, number and mass of berries; leaf quality parameters, i.e. mass including petioles and area. An energy assessment in Laboratory in Department of Power Engineering and Transportation was carried out by performing proximate and ultimate analysis and estimating emission factors and volumetric composition of exhaust gas. The study showed that the material with the highest energy potential was characterised by ‘Regent’, while the lowest potential was shown for ‘Rondo’. Grapevines of the ‘Rondo’ cultivar were characterised by the highest obtained biomass among the evaluated varieties. The research showed that the most effective in practical cultivation is the use of the Regent variety, which was characterised by the average parameters of the obtained yield and growth values, and the highest fuel energy potential.

The aim of the present research was to compare the water requirements of grapevine in the regions of Bydgoszcz and Wrocław in the forty-year period between 1976 and 2015. In the research the authors used the mean monthly temperature values (°C) and monthly precipitation (mm) for the May-September period in the years 1976-2015. The meteorological data for the Bydgoszcz region was derived from standard meteorological measurements performed at the Experiment Station at Mochełek, and analysed at the Department of Land Reclamation and Agrometeorology of the UTP University of Science and Technology in Bydgoszcz. The meteorological data for the Wrocław region were provided by the Swojec experiment station of the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences. The grapevine water requirements were determined as optimal precipitation assumed by Kemmer and Schulz. It has been found that the grapevine water requirements in 1976-2015, expressed as the optimal annual precipitation according to Kemmer and Schulz, were higher in the Wrocław region than in the Bydgoszcz region and they amounted to 469.3 mm and 435.8 mm, respectively. The grapevine water requirements in both regions in the forty-year period under study showed a growing tendency. A larger increase in grapevine water requirements (27.5-28.0 mm per decade) occurred in the Wrocław region. The estimates show that during the forty-year period (1976-2015) the precipitation deficits in grapevine growing in the May-September period occurred in 11 years in the Bydgoszcz region and in 9 years in the Wrocław region.

The paper presents the possibilities of energy management of residues from the production of ‘Regent’ grapevines. Field tests were conducted under conditions of temperate climate in 2022 on six types of rootstocks viz: 101-14, 125 AA, 161-49, 5 BB, SO4, SORI, the control were ungrafted vines growing on their own roots. The study analysed the following crop parameters, i.e. number and mass of grapes, number and mass of berries; quality parameters of woody shoots. Technical and elemental analysis was performed, and the heat of combustion and calorific value were determined to define fuel quality parameters. In addition, emission factors of CO, CO2, SO2, NOx and ash were estimated to demonstrate the degree of impact of potential bio-residue from the combustion process. An assessment was made on the basis of stoichiometric equations of flue gas composition, as well as theoretical oxygen demand and total fuel gas volume. The study showed that cultivation on 125 AA rootstock is characterised by obtaining significantly the highest yield, shoot mass and bio-residues suitability for energy purposes. The research showed that the most effective in practical cultivation is the use of SORI and SO4 rootstocks in cultivation, which are characterised by average parameters of obtained yield, growth value and fuel.

The present research has aimed at estimating the water requirements of grapevine in 2016-2050 in the Bydgoszcz region based on the anticipated temperature changes. . The paper draws on the forecasting of mean monthly temperature for the Bydgoszcz region in 2011-2050 according to the climate change scenario for Poland SRES: A1B (Bąk, Łabędzki 2014). The water requirements of the grapevine have been determined based on the indispensable precipitation determined by Kemmer and Schulz. The water requirements were calculated for the period January through December and May through September for each year in the 35-year period (2016- 2050). The reference period was made up by a 35-year period immediately preceding it (1981-2015). In the 2016-2050 period in the Bydgoszcz region, in the light of the anticipated temperature change scenarios, one can expect increased grapevine water requirements. Determined with the Kemmer and Schulz method, the required optimal annual (January-December) precipitation will increase for the grapevine from 440 mm to 576 mm (by 136 mm, namely by 31 %). The optimal precipitation trend equations demonstrate that in the reference period (1981-2015), calculated with the Kemmer and Schulz, the optimal annual precipitation was increasing in grapevine in each pentad by 2.2-2.6 mm. In the forecast period (2016-2050) the water requirements will increase, however, in each pentad in a much greater range (8.0-8.9 mm). In the summer period (May-September) determined by Kemmer and Schulz, the total precipitation optimal for the grapevine, expressing the water requirements, in 2016-2050 will increase by 68 mm.

Challenges concerning fruit trees and grapevines as long lived woody perennial crops require adapted biotechnological approaches, if solutions are to be found within a reasonable time frame. These challenges are represented by the need for correct identification of genetic resources, with the foreseen use either in conservation or in breeding programmes. Molecular markers provide most accurate information and will be the major solution for questions about plant breeders rights. Providing healthy planting material and rapid detection of newly introduced pathogens by reliable methods involving serological and molecular biological tools will be a future challenge of increases importance, given the fact that plant material travels freely in the entire European Union. But also new breeding goals and transgenic solutions are part of the biotechnological benefits, e.g. resistance against biotic and abiotic stress factors, modified growth habits, modified nutritional properties and altered processing and storage qualities. The successful characterization of transgenic grapevines and stone fruit trees carrying genes of viral origin in different vectors constructed under ecological consideration, will be presented. Beyond technical feasibility, efficiency of resistance, environmental safety and Intellectual Property Rights, also public acceptance needs consideration and has been addressed in a specific project. The molecular determination of internal quality parameters of food can also be addressed by the use of biotechnological tools. Patient independent detection tools for apple allergens have been developed and should allow to compare fruits from different production systems, sites, and genotypes for their content of health threatening compounds.

Climate and weather conditions are important factors influencing grapevine growth and fruit quality. Cooler regions are expected to be unsuitable for grape growing due to insufficient maturation and variability of quality parameters. Therefore, a field trial was conducted, aimed to determine the effect of pruning time on low cordon cane (CP) and spur pruned (SP) grapevines of the hybrid cultivar Hasanski Sladki in a cool climate conditions. A vineyard, with the low double trunk (25 cm in height) training system, was established at the experimental station of the Estonian University of Life Sciences (58°23’17’’ N, 26°41’50’’ E) in June 2007. The treatments were carried out in autumn after leaf fall and in spring at the two leaf phase in 2010/2011 and 2011/2012. Pruning time affected grape maturity parameters depending on pruning method. Autumn SP increased the soluble solids content from 18.5 to 19.8 °Brix in 2011 and from 17.1 to 18.0 in 2012. Titratable acids content was high in both experimental years ranging from 1.3 to 2.1 g 100 g-1, and only autumn CP decreased it. Pruning in spring significantly decreased the soluble solids/ titratable acids for both pruning methods. The timing of SP affected the maturity index (MI = °Brix × pH2 ) variably; in 2011, spring pruning decreased the index whereas; the index was increased in 2012. Spring pruning decreased the total phenolics up to 22% in both treatments in the two years mean. In CP, spring pruning increased anthocyanins content from 31 to 77 mg 100 g-1 in 2012.

Warunki klimatyczne i pogodowe są ważnymi czynnikami wpływającymi na wzrost winorośli i jakość owoców. Uważa się, że chłodniejsze regiony są nieodpowiednie dla wzrostu winorośli ze względu na niedostateczne dojrzewanie oraz różnorodność parametrów jakościowych. Przeprowadzono więc próbę polową, mającą na celu określenie wpływu czasu przycinania na niskie cięcie (CP) i krótkie cięcie (SP) winorośli hybrydowej odmiany Hasanski Sladki w warunkach chłodnego klimatu. Winnica z systemem uprawy dwuramiennego pnia (25 cm wysokości) została założona w stacji eksperymentalnej Estońskiego Uniwersytetu Przyrodniczego (58°23’17’’N, 26°41’50’’E) w czerwcu 2007. Zabiegi przeprowadzono jesienią, po opadnięciu liści, oraz wiosną, w fazie dwóch liści, w latach 2010/2011 oraz 2011/2012. Czas przycinania wpływa na parametry dojrzałości winogron w zależności od metody przycinania. Jesienne samooczyszczanie zwiększało zawartość związków rozpuszczalnych z 18,5 do 19,8 °Brix w 2011 r. oraz z 17,1 do 18,0 w 2012 r. Kwasowość była wysoka w obydwu latach i wynosiła od 1,3 do 2,1 g 100 g-1 i zmniejszało ją tylko CP. Cięcie wiosenne istotnie zmniejszało stosunek: rozpuszczalne substancje/kwasowość w przypadku obydwu metod. Czas SP miał wpływ na zmienność wskaźnika dojrzałości (MI = °Brix × pH2 ). W roku 2011 wiosenne cięcie zmniejszało ten wskaźnik, natomiast w roku 2012 wskaźnik zwiększył się. Wiosenne cięcie zmniejszało całkowitą zawartość fenoli do 22% w obu zabiegach w Średniej dwuletniej. W przypadku CP, wiosenne cięcie zwiększało zawartość antocyjanów z 31 do 77 mg 100 g-1 w roku 2012.

The study shows genetic diversity of 38 Vitis vinifera L. cultivars and hybrids originating in North America and Europe, including cultivars selected in Poland, which have not been characterized with the use of DNA markers yet. The agrobiological features of the genotypes selected for testing indicate that they may be useful for the breeding of new cultivars and grape production. The use of 12 ISSR primers allowed to obtain 94.4% of polymorphism. The polymorphic information content (PIC) value was high and varied between 0.829 and 0.953 with an average of 0.897. The resolving power (Rp) ranged between 3.678 and 8.892 with an average of 6.347. Primers UBC 809, UBC 810, UBC 812, UBC 855, UBC 891 and UBC 810 were found to be highly effective (informative). Similarity coefficient ranged between 0.167 and 1.0, which indicates high degree of diversity of tested grape cultivars. Tested cultivars were grouped in 3 main clusters; one of them was further divided into 6 subclusters. ‘Pannonia Kincse’ and ‘Danmarpa Polonia’ were not differentiated. Phenotypic differences among those two cultivars suggest that ‘Danmarpa Polonia’ might be a clone of ‘Pannonia Kincse’ and other molecular techniques must be used to differentiate them. Morphological and agrobiological characters of cultivars support the results obtained by ISSR markers.

Testing the globally popular grapevine rootstocks for affinity with new grape cultivars or tolerance potential to stress factors like drought is essential for districts where supplemental irrigation is more frequently needed due to the pressures of a global climate change. In this study, a seasonal evaluation of leaf gas exchange, leaf temperature, leaf greenness (chlorophyll content prediction) and vegetative development of Vitis vinifera L. cv. ‘Prima’ grafted to different rootstock genotypes having great variability in drought tolerance, were investigated. The experiment was conducted in a controlled experimental glasshouse on two-year-old soilless grown ‘Prima’ vines grafted on nine rootstocks [44-53 M, 5 BB, 140 Ru, Ramsey (Syn. Salt Creek), 99 R, Saint George (Syn. Rupestris du Lot), 41 B, 1613 C and 420 A]. A long-term deficit irrigation (DI) was imposed before bud break by reducing water supply to 40% of field capacity derived from concurrent measurements of water content of growth medium and maintained until the end of vegetation period. The rootstocks significantly modulated the physiology and vegetative growth of the scion cultivar in varying degrees according to their genetic features. Among them, 140 Ru rootstock found to be more prominent in terms of mitigating the adverse effect of water deficit on physiology and growth of the scion genotype ‘Prima’ as there were no significant difference between deficit and full irrigation treatments for most of parameters investigated. In general, the ‘Prima’ scion performed better when the rootstocks coming from V. berlandieri × V. rupestris pedigree rather than the others including V. berlendieri × V. riparia.

W artykule przedstawiono istotę oraz znaczenie przedmiotowego narzędzia, środki zaradcze, które powinny być zastosowane przez firmę w razie wystąpienia sytuacji kryzysowej, spowodowanej negatywnym przekazem. W dalszej części artykułu zaprezentowane zostały podstawowe formy komunikacji nieformalnej tj. poczta pantoflowa, społeczności wirtualne, ambasadorzy marek oraz marketing wirusowy. Kolejno przedstawiono etapy tworzenia kampanii marketingu szeptanego jego uregulowania prawne oraz sposoby pomiaru skuteczności i efektywności przedmiotowego narzędzia.

The main objective of that report is presented the phenomenon of Word of Mouth Marketing`s tool. In the article there were described the main essence and meaning of WoMM, WoMM`s kinds, stages of creating the WoMM`s campaign. There were also presented the basic forms of informel communications like grapevine, virtual communities, the ambassadors of brands and viral marketing. In the next part of the article there were presented remedial measures in case of the appearance of the negative message and manners of the measurement of WoMM`s effectiveness and effectivenesses.

The response of berry organic acids of four organically grown table grape cultivars to cane-girdling and cluster-berry thinning treatments were evaluated over two growing seasons. In addition pH, titratable acidity, soluble solids content and maturity index were also determined. Statistical analyses showed that individual organic acid content of the four grape cultivars were significantly affected by the treatments. Tartaric and malic acids of ‘Red Globe’ were mostly influenced by the cluster-berry thinning treatment. ‘Alphonse Lavalleé’ accumulated the highest tartaric acid and malic acid in both the girdled/thinned and the cluster-berry thinned vines, respectively. The control and girdled ‘Trakya Ilkeren’ vines had the most tartaric acid. Control vines also contained high malic acid amount. ‘Buca Razakısı’, on the other hand, had the most prominent tartaric and malic acid levels in the girdled/thinned and thinned vines, respectively. Quality parameters also showed significant differences among the cultivars in response to the treatments.

Oceniono reakcję zawartości kwasów organicznych w czterech odmianach winogron przeznaczonych do bezpośredniego spożycia na zabiegi obrączkowania i przycinania w okresie dwóch okresów wegetacyjnych. Poza tym określono pH, kwasowość miareczkowaną, zawartość substancji rozpuszczalnych sałych oraz indeks dojrzałości. Analizy statystyczne pokazały, że na indywidualną zawartość kwasów organicznych czterech odmian wymienione zabiegi wpływały istotnie . Zabieg przycinania gron najbardziej wpłynął na zawartość kwasu winowego i kwasu jabłkowego odmiany ‘Red Globe’. Odmiana ‘Alphonse Lavalleé’ gromadziła najwięcej kwasu winowego i kwasu jabłkowego odpowiednio w winoroślach opaskowanych/przycinanych i w winoroślach z przycinanymi gronami. Winorośle ‘Trakya Ilkeren’ kontrolne i przycinane miały największą zawartość kwasu winowego. Winorośle kontrolne również zawierały dużą ilość kwasu octowego. Natomiast odmiana ‘Buca Razakısı’ miała najbardziej wyróżniającą się zawartość kwasu winowego i octowego odpowienio w opaskowanych/przycinanych oraz przycinanych winoroślach. Paramentry jakościowe także wykazywały istotne różnice między odmianami w reakcji na zabiegi.

It is well known, that grapevine seeds are rich in significant antioxidants. However, the issue of dealing with the analysis and comparison of antioxidant components in the seeds of Vitis vinifera L. in individual cultivars has not yet been sufficiently studied. The experiment was performed with extracts of three varieties (Blaufränkish, Italian Riesling and Cabernet Moravia) and three interspecific cultivars (Nativa, Marlen and Kofranka). Contents of nine major flavonoids (apigenin, astragalin, hyperoside, isorhamnetin, kaempferol, myricetin, quercetin, quercitrin and rutin) and two procyanidins (procyanidin A2 and procyanidin B1) were assessed by the HPLC/MS method. The highest contents of antioxidants were found out in interspecific cultivars Marlen and Nativa while the lowest one was assessed in the cultivar Cabernet Moravia. The most represented flavonoid was hyperoside (cultivar Marlen – 15.66 mg∙l–1), least represented was kaempferol (cultivar Cabernet Moravia – 1.81 µg∙l–1).

The tested material consisted of grapevine Vitis californica stratified seeds germinated under optimum conditions (+25°C in water), under osmotic stress (-0.2 MPa in PEG solution) and submitted to recovery after stress (+25°C in water). The germinating seeds were determined to contain tannins, catechins and the following phenolic acids: gallic, caffeic, p-coumaric and ferulic. The acids occurred in free, ester- and glycoside-bound forms. The dominant form of phenolic acids was the ester-bound fraction. Gallic acid was the most abundant phenolic acid in germinating seeds, while ferulic acid appeared in the smallest amounts. Our analysis of tannins demonstrated that osmotic stress depressed their concentration. Presence of catechin group compounds such as catechin and epicatechin was also determined. In each sample epicatechin was dominant. The total concentration of catechin increased under stress conditions and declined during post-stress recovery. Catechins are a constituent of tannins and their increase under osmotic stress is most probably caused by the breakdown of some tannins in seeds germinating under stress conditions. Samples submitted to osmotic stress were also found to contain less of total phenolic compounds, whereas in samples which underwent post-stress recovery the total level of phenolic compounds increased. Compared to extracts from seeds germinating under optimum conditions, osmotic stress depressed the capacity of extract to scavenge DPPH● (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) and ABTS●+ – 2,2-Azino-bis (3-etylbenzothiazoline-6- -sulfonic acid) free radicals, but the antioxidant activity rose in seeds submitted to recovery after stress. Positive correlation was therefore demonstrated between the total content of phenolic acids in germinating grapevine seeds and the reducing power of extracts obtained from these seeds and their free radical scavenging activity. The results suggest that osmotic stress inhibits the activity of antioxidizing enzymes in germinating grapevine seeds. Thus, the antioxidative defence system is largely blocked under osmotic stress. It seems that a very high oxidoreductive potential in grapevine tissues prior to occurrence of osmotic stress is essential for maintaining proper homeostasis of oxidation and reduction reactions.

The 14th-century Gothic hall churches in Drawsko Pomorskie and Dobiegniew (the territory of the former Neumark, present-day West Pomeranian and Lubusz Voivodeships respectively) have side portals richly decorated with ceramic reliefs. In both cases they were probably made under the influence of the so-called Ascanian workshop, builders and sculptors of which erected many churches in the Margraviate of Brandenburg, including Chorin Abbey. Some of the sculptures from the northern portal in Drawsko Pomorskie are similar to decoration of the stalls in the Co-Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kołobrzeg.
