Quite often, people have negative views on government-linked companies (GLCs) due to the unsatisfactory performance of some key players. In order to improve the performance of GLCs in the country, Malaysian government implemented GLC Transformation Program (GLCT) in 2004. As the program is approaching its ending phase, some efforts are needed to assess the performance of GLCs. This study aimed to examine the influence of EO dimensions on the performance of GLCs. The sample of this study consisted of 153 subsidiaries and branches of G20. Based on the multiple regression analysis performed, this study found that all the five dimensions in EO, namely innovativeness (INNO), pro-activeness (PROA), risk-taking (RISK), competitive aggressiveness (COMP) and autonomy (AUTO) recorded significant positive effects on performance of GLCs. Competitive aggressiveness was identified as the most important factor that influences the performance of GLCs. As such, all the hypotheses developed for this study were supported. The results suggested that EO is not only suitable to be applied in privately owned companies, but also in GLCs. Hence, GLCs should not be perceived as public entities and they should be more entrepreneurial in managing their organizations to achieve high performance. Furthermore, this study also verified that EO is a good determinant of GLCs’ performance. At the end of this paper, recommendations for future research have been put forth.

The aim of this paper is to examine the entrepreneurial orientation (EO) of SMEs in the Malopolska region of Poland. Our specific aim is to confirm the relationship between selected company characteristics (the level of technological development and stage of organizational development) and entrepreneurial orientation. A survey was conducted in a group of 95 SMEs that form hightech and low-tech industries in the Malopolska region. Our findings suggest that enterprises representing the high-tech industry exhibit higher EO than those from the low-tech industry. The findings display an imbalance in EO dimensions in both groups of enterprises, showing that innovativeness plays the most important role in enterprises from high-tech industries. The results suggest an inverse monotonic relationship between EO and a company’s age, but they do not confirm any relationship between the EO and a company’s size. Our results contribute to the theory of entrepreneurship by identifying the dependence of EO on industry type (lowtech versus high-tech) and company age.

The paper is an attempt to transfer the dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) onto the family ground. It constitutes an attempt to emerge the model of family entrepreneurial orientation (FEO) as the family background determining attitudes and entrepreneurial intentions. The research was conducted on a group of students who were asked to respond the questions concerning their families, and particularly, the ones formulated with reference to the existing concepts of entrepreneurial orientation referring to organizational entrepreneurship. There was conducted explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis. The reliability of the scale was analyzed using Cronbach’s alpha reliability estimate.

In the study, the mediation was presented as an analytical technique allowing the explanation of significant fluctuations in size and the direction of the entrepreneurial orientation (EO)–firm performance relationship. The assumptions of analysis of mediation were discussed as the whole, pointing to the practices, which should be used in order to carry out this process properly. It was found out, that mediation, despite not being a new tool of solving the research problems in statistics, is not commonly used in the management sciences. That is why, the aim of the study is to identify mediating variables which explain entrepreneurial orientation (EO)–firm performance relationship. The studies on the effects of mediation presented in the scientific literature confirmed the usefulness of the analytical technique in the context of the EO discussion. It allowed to compile the list of the meditative factors on the relationship “entrepreneurial orientation (EO)–firm performance".
