The Helmet of Horror by Victor Pelevin is a perfect material with which to illustrate how the mechanisms operating in publishing markets are misleading for the statistical reader. The Pelevin’s work, the fact of which many readers may not be aware, functions in two originals: one being the original Russian text, and the other – its simplified version (in some parts) for foreign‑language translators. Hence, the character crucial for understanding the text is differently qualified in various circles of readers, as he uses different linguistic registers in the two variants of the text (the specific Russian internet users’ jargon and the normative language). This measure, which has not been expressly indicated to the readers, essentially prevents the performance of a classical critical and translatological study.

The article presents one of the avant‑garde (antimimetic) models of literary translation which developed in differing artistic and ideological national variants of literary Modernism in the first decades of the 20th century. A metonymical translation can be defined as an effect of purposeful, artistically conscious and manifestly arbitrary hiperbolization of some particular “constructional device” of an original in translational analysis and interpretation. The avant‑garde conceptualisation of translation as a metonymy of an original appears as one of the crucial exponents of Modernist revolution in translational theory and practice as well as a manifestation of modern cultural self‑consciousness.

Each translating decision is about application of a particular translating dominant, in other words a specific point of view in interpretation of a book chosen to be translated. This perspective is inevitably different from an author’s dominant, considering that a translator reads a text by view of his own experiences, acquired knowledge and natural born sensitivity. An additional change of dominant occurs in case of publishing, in a target culture, an anthology that shows a fragment of a source culture: a reader receives an image of a given literature that was created through the prism of the choices made by the author of the anthology. Subsequently, his choice is subject to translation which is always affected by the translator. The purpose of this analysis is to discuss the specificity of the choices not only made by a translator, but also by the “external organizers”, and of their impact on the shape of the anthology on the example of Antologia poezji Quebeku.

By using a certain operator D(n), we introduce a class of holomorphic functions Mn(h), h convex function, and we obtain some subordination results. We also show that, for h(z) ≡ α, 0 ≤ α < 1 and z ∈ U, the set Mn(α) is convex and we obtain some new differential subordinations related to certain integral operators.
