During recent years, much attention has been paid to the analysis of fire effect on steel structures because of fire importance and its effect on the stability of steel structures. Considering steel sensitivity to heat and high costs of steel frames retrofitting with the help of thermal covers, accurate behavior analysis of metal frames in elevated tem-peratures is required in order to reduce undesirable effects of temperature increase. To do so and taking into account the high costs of lab tests and their limitations in investigation of numerous parameters during any test, finite element method is used as a powerful and valuable tool in modeling of steel frames under thermal conditions. In this study, the fire effect on steel beams is studied considering the softening of connec-tion and decrease of materials strength. Then, structure durability in fire will be ana-lyzed in the ANSYS software. The analyzed frame is a single span three dimensional one and different conditions including connection type, longitudinal expansion effect, thermal loading and the kind of fire will be analyzed and compared. The obtained computer results will be compared with other researches results.

Application of steel sandwich panels to ship structures requires many problems to be solved. Joints between the panels as well as those between the panels and other structures is one of the more difficult problems associated with the structures in question. This paper presents the searching for process of optimum geometry of a panel-to-panel joint of longitudinal arrangement, performed by means of the ANSYS software. A configuration was searched for of parameters which can ensure as-low-as possible values of geometrical stress concentration coefficients at acceptable mass and deformations of the structure. Analysis of the obtained results made it possible to propose the optimum geometry of the considered joint.

Bolt and screw drive sockets allow for the assembly and disassembly of a fastener in the connection. There are several dozens of them. Conventionally, they can be divided into four groups: conventional sockets, multi-system sockets, innovative sockets and special sockets. The variety of their construction forms results in various functional properties. Some sockets require few screwing tools for a whole series of bolt and screw types, other, in turn, allow for transferring significant values of tightening torque. Other cannot be untightened without a specialist tool.

In this paper, an analysis of forced transverse harmonic vibration with constant changes of the exciting force in a dynamic system consisting of two beams is presented together with a model of a leaf spring. In this junction both beams are made of shape memory material (SMA). The constructional friction is also taken into account. For the purpose of the analysis an equivalent linearization of the elasticity-damping features of the beams was conducted. As an effect of linearization a junction was acquired with both stiffness of elements and viscosity damping. The obtained differential equations were solved using the asymptotic Bogolubov-Krylov-Mitropolski method. The results of the conducted simulation are presented on graphs, showing the influence of unitary pressure on the system's damping properties.

Relational approach to autism is a specific way of understanding needs of the child with development disorders based on three strong fundaments – psychoanalysis, development psychology and psychopathology. It is a result of complex research of typical development and identification of caretaker’s intuitive reactions, which support the child best and in a natural way. Relational therapy is not a remedy for every issue in autism. However, it should be an important, central element of a good-enough, holistic educational and therapeutic program. An introduction to other, educational-oriented activities, like learning which is a dyadic process of interaction between two people of whom one is always a teacher for another. Connection and relation should be an essence of every intervention dedicated to autistic children to, as a result, make the autism thaw.

Rough mereology is a paradigm for reasoning under uncertainty whose primitive notion is that of being a part to a degree; hence, rough mereology falls in the province of mereology-based theories for reasoning about complex objects. Among mereological theories of objects, theories based on the primitive notion of a connection distinguish themselves by a variety of applications of which we would like to mention the area of Qualitative Spatial Reasoning. In this paper, we define rough mereologies within the realm of mereologies based on the primitive notion of a part and we show that in this framework one may induce notions of connection closely related to initial rough mereologies in the sense that they induce the same notion of a part. We also address the distributed environment proving some results about connection preservation throughout the reasoning system.

The aim of this research was to prove that in ageing society the increasing number of the seniors has significant role in employment. The study included Visegrad 4 countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia). The determination and correlation coefficients and the trend equations show the different but significant connection between the employment of senior workers and their increasing number in society. If the state does not take any proactive measure to invest into the value of the human capital of older workers, the ageing, sick, unemployment citizens will cause a serious social and financing problem in the near future.

Celem badań było wykazanie, że w starzejącym się społeczeństwie wzrastająca liczba seniorów odgrywa znacząca rolę w zatrudnieniu. Badaniami objęto 4 kraje należące do Grupy Wyszehradzkiej (V4), tj. Polskę, Węgry, Czechy i Słowację. Obliczone współczynniki korelacji i determinacji oraz równania trendu wskazują na różne w poszczególnych krajach, ale istotne zależności pomiędzy zatrudnieniem starszych pracowników a ich rosnącą liczbą w społeczeństwie. Jeśli kraje nie zainwestują w rozwój kapitału ludzkiego wśród osób starszych, to starzejące się społeczeństwo, osoby chore i bezrobotne mogą stać się przyczyną poważnych problemów społecznych i finansowych w najbliższej przyszłości.

An important problem of the textronic application of a textronic contact junction is connecting electronic systems to textile sensors, actuators or power supply systems. This paper presents a special construction of a textronic contac junction. This kind of textronic junction has the form of electroconductive textile velcro. A textile contact junction consists of two electroconductive textile parts: a male and female pin. The construction of an automatic stand for testing the mechanical and electrical properties of textile velcro is also described in this paper. The force, displacement and resistance for different parameters of the connecting process are recorded on the stand. The laboratory stand consists of two compact pneumatic actuators, a force sensor, a displacement sensor, resistance (indirect method) sensors and a PC computer recording system. Some basic research on textile junctions is also presented in this paper.

Three equivalent exterior precast concrete beam-column (PCBC) connections have been investigated in this study in orderto analyze the effect of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) as cast-in-place (CIP) on the seismic performance of the PCBC connection. The connection was designed as a ductile connection for a moment-resisting frame and consists of a precast U-beam, precast column with corbel, interlocking bars, and CIP-concrete to connect the precast beam to precast column. The volume fractions of steel fiber incorporated within the CIP-concrete were 0%, 0.5% and 1%. A quasi-static load was applied vertically to the beam tip of the PCBC specimen. The results showed that the steel fibers contained within the CIP-concrete provided 2% increase of the maximum load, 17.7% increase of the energy dissipation, and increase in the joint stiffness of the PCBC connection. The steel fibers delayed the onset of cracking and slowed down the crack propagation, resulting in shorter cracks in the joint core of PCBC specimen, which correlates well with the deflection-hardening characteristic found from the modulus of rupture test.

Połączenie głowicy płuczkowej z kolumną przewodu wiertniczego stanowi przejście ze sztywnego korpusu głowicy do wiotkiego ciągu rurowego obracającego się przy znacznym jego obciążeniu siłą osiową. Łącznik pod wrzecionem głowicy płuczkowej wymaga szczególnej uwagi w czasie eksploatacji. Geometria łącznika i jego połączenia gwintowego z wrzecionem ma wpływ na koncentrację naprężeń mających dynamiczny charakter. Prowadzi to do zmęczenia materiału i ryzyka powstania mikropęknięcia oraz urwania lub złamania w połączeniu gwintowym. Wykonane badania materiałowe pozwalają na dokładniejszą ocenę warunków procesu pękania czopa wrzeciona w czasie eksploatacji oraz przy prowadzeniu operacji uwalniania przewodu z przychwycenia.

Connection of mud swivel to drill string creates the transition zone from rigid mud swivel to thin tubular string rotating at considerable tension load. The sub under swivel stem requires particular care during exploitation and maintenance. Geometry of swivel sub and its thread connection to stem exerts influence on stress concentration at dynamic loads. This leads to material fatigue and microcrack creation risk and connection thread break off or fracture. Material researches carried out allow better assessment of pin crack process during normal work and freeing stuck drill string operation.
