The author of this article presents some ideas about Mary contained in two rather new works. The first one is a lexicon of Mariology. It is a summary of all what took place in this theological field. The second is a small book about the internal relation between God and Mary and its consequences for the human life. It is the work of prof. Pospisil 'Mary - the maternal face of God'. These works are quite new, both in Czech theology and in theology in general. Marienlexicon with its 4300 pages brings together almost everything the present Mariology offers from its treasures. Prof. Pospisil's book, on the other hand, integrates certain individual ideas into the overall field of Mariology. While the authors of the lexicon think about Mary in relationship to the individual persons of the Trinity, prof. Pospisil explores her relationship to the Immanent Trinity. He presents Mariology as a necessary addition to Christology and as a challenge to discover life in its fullness.

(Title in Polish - 'Czlowiek u wrót nieba - rola Matki Bozej w zbawieniu. Studium oparte na piesniach i dokumentach z wielkopolskich sanktuariów maryjnych'). Texts of religious songs have not been analysed ethnologically yet. Despite a great number of them, in folklore and ethnographic literature they are not treated as documents, which allow to reconstruct the world of ideas about the 'heavenly court'. This articles attempts to analyse the perception of the Most Blessed Mother of God in the act of salvation. This study was made on the basis of religious songs, entries into memory books and inscriptions on votive offerings found in St. Mary's sanctuaries in Wielkopolska. The texts analysed by the authoress show Virgin Mary performing different functions - she saves, defends, protects, and reigns. Sometimes she acts together with Jesus, but most often she acts on her own. Excerpts from the songs reflect the 'heavenly hierarchy' in which the Mother of God takes the first place. Virgin Mary in the songs is not a submissive woman who, in obedience to God, raises God's Son but she is a resolute, strong, and merciful person, full of empathy for the human being. The analysis of the songs helps us to discover representations characteristic of folk religiosity and trace its transformations over time.

In the present article, we show how the native background manifests in the form, as well as in the content of the original version of the Guadalupan Nican Mophua. We also present the examples of difficulties which arise in translation of this text into Polish, resulting from the particularities of the nahuatl language, such as the specific way of constructing the images of the world and of transmitting religious and philosophical concepts. These concepts, of a genuine Christian and marianologic nature, are clearly manifested in our source text.
