Dynamic development of IT tool applications is observed in all areas of management. This paper chiefly identifies work safety management areas in which information technology tools are currently used. At the same time, it reviews IT tools that are most frequently used for areas identified in the context of solving specific safety problems. Based upon analysis of test results, it evaluates the use of selected IT tools in the group of small and medium manufacturing companies.

One of the main tasks of education is the appropriate motivation of students. The authors present their investigations in the field of learning motivation, which are the elements of significant research; they examine how differentiated education affects learning features. They apply pilot and control groups to follow the effect of differentiated development over the years. One can directly apply their research results into educational practice. This present study focuses on motivation, which is one of the constituents of this research sequence. For the development of these areas, the authors looked for tools that can be used when working with 10-14 year old students, which help to motivate them and raise their interest. The authors raise the issue how and in what manner digital tools are suitable for the motivation.

IT tools supporting the BPM approach developed rapidly in the last 10 years. Initially were available simple solutions for modeling and optimization of business processes. The next generation has offered business process implementation and monitoring in the real environment of the organization. Finally user requirements forced vendors to add a bit of “intelligence” to their applications and iBPMS entered on the market. The iBMPS market is still immature but some trends can be seen. The source for such analysis can be found in analytical reports provided by renowned research and advisory companies. In this paper was presented analysis of BPMS and iBMPS markets based on Gartner’s Magic Quadrant reports from years: 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2015.

The success of projects in enterprises and the success of an entire organization’s business largely depend on the possession and efficient use of the relevant information. In a broader context, success depends on having the adequate knowledge at the right time and place. Business processes generate large amount of data that are collected and processed in a way enabling transforming data into a measurable and useful value, which is information. Its efficient usage streamlines business processes, and allows to respond quickly to changes and proper decision-making. The aim of the paper is to present and define the project management challenges and ideas of Business Intelligence and Big Data systems. The types of analysis available in both platforms are also discussed. In the paper, the authors try to identify the areas of project management that can benefit from Business Intelligence and Big Data analysis.

The purpose of this article is to present the results of research on internal communication in the Police. The measurable outcome of the research is the development of an IT tool to form a discussion forum that improves intra-organisational communication in hierarchical institutions, and thus management of the organisation. The research is being carried out under the project “Creation of an IT system supporting communication in the Police and other services subordinated to the Ministry of the Interior in terms of internal security — SINDBAD,” No. DOB-BIO7/03/01/2015. The project is co-financed by the National Centre for Research and Development in Warsaw, for which a grant of PLN 5 million has been obtained. This information exchange platform is being created by a research consortium led by the Police Academy in Szczytno. The essence of this tool is its internal structure, which is based on a detailed analysis of the needs of future users. The solution will be equipped with the following modules: research development and management, consultation on legal acts, crisis analysis and statistical analysis. Significantly, the system created will allow maximum anonymity of expression and security against unauthorised access by third parties. The result of the project will include an anonymous IT modular platform for collecting and analysing data to monitor problem areas and planning interventions at the organisational level to ensure internal security, including an organisational and technical solution that ensures the anonymity of contributors.

W artykule zaprezentowana została tematyka narzędzi informatycznych, które mogą wspomagać naukowców w ich codziennej pracy badawczej i edytorskiej. Wielu pracowników naukowych korzysta z różnych nowoczesnych narzędzi, prowadząc badania (głównie w naukach technicznych). Coraz częściej jednak po nowoczesne rozwiązania sięgają przedstawiciele grupy nauk społecznych, w tym pedagogiki. W pierwszej części artykułu zaprezentowane zostało zagadnienie ankiet internetowych, czyli tzw. metody CAWI i zastosowania jej w naukach społecznych. Druga część natomiast odnosi się do menedżerów bibliografii, prezentując ich walory wykorzystania przez różne grupy osób.

The aim of these article is a presentation of different kind of IT tools which can support scientists in their everyday research (work). Many researchers use a variety of modern IT tools in their work (mainly in technical science). However, the modern solutions are chosen by the representatives of the social science more often nowadays. First part of the article presents the problem of online surveys ie. CAWI and its application in the social science. The second part of article concerns the reference managers and their values used by different kind of researchers.

W IUNG-PIB od wielu lat konstruowane są narzędzia informatyczne dostarczające informacji pomocnych producentom rolnym przy podejmowaniu decyzji produkcyjnych. Do modelowania technologii produkcji roślinnej i kalkulacji kosztów służy m.in. program Agroefekt. Wykonane analizy technologiczno-ekonomiczne mogą być wykorzystane do planowania przyszłych działań i zarządzania produkcją roślinną. Niewłaściwie prowadzone nawożenie, szczególnie niewłaściwa gospodarka azotem może powodować niekorzystne zmiany w środowisku. Prawo polskie zaleca bilans azotu "na powierzchni pola" jako metodę monitorowania wpływu nawożenia azotem na jakość wód gruntowych. Do wykonania bilansu przydatny jest program MacroBil. Zalecenia dla wielu roślin uprawnych dotyczące nawożenia można uzyskać stosując program doradczy NawSald. Dobór odmian kukurydzy dla różnych rejonów Polski z uwzględnieniem wymagań termicznych można przeprowadzić posługując się aplikacją internetową "Fenologia kukurydzy". System wspomagania decyzji ZeaSoft ułatwia wybór odmiany na podstawie lokalnych warunków klimatycznych, charakterystyki odmian i rachunku ekonomicznego.

At the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation - National Research Institute IT tools that provide the information essential for decision-making to farmers have been built for a number of years. Technology modelling and cost calculation can be conducted with the aid of the Agroefekt program. The technological and economic analyses obtained may be used in planning of future activities and farm production management. Fertilization and nitrogen management have a strong effect on the environment and it is important to conduct them in a proper way. The Polish law recommends nitrogen balance at the scale of the field as a method of monitoring the impact of nitrogen fertilization on the quality of ground water. The balance can be calculated with the MacroBil program. The information on fertilization for a number of crops can be obtained with the aid of the NawSald program. The selection of varieties based on the thermal requirements of maize and climatic conditions in various regions in Poland can be carried out with the Maize Phenology Internet application. The ZeaSoft system supports decision making in the selection of maize variety based on local climatic conditions, variety characteristics and economic analysis.

Wykorzystywanie narzędzi informatycznych przy czynnościach związanych z planowaniem i ogólnym zarządzaniem zamówieniami publicznymi podnosi skuteczność zamówień publicznych. Mogą być one realizowane skutecznie pod warunkiem, że proces przeprowadzania zamówień w danej jednostce będzie zaplanowany optymalnie dla jej potrzeb, pracownicy będą posiadali odpowiednie kompetencje i uprawnienia adekwatne do zakresu realizowanych przez nich zadań, a przy ich realizacji będą korzystali z systemów informatycznych dostosowanych do potrzeb jednostki. Urzędy centralne powinny rozważyć wypracowanie wspólnych procedur udzielania zamówień i narzędzi informatycznych dla podległych jednostek, które realizują te same zadania.

Using IT tools with activities related to the planning and overall management of the procurement process in public administration increases the efficiency of public procurement. Central government offices should consider developing joint procurement procedures and IT tools for subordinate offices.
