The aim is also to indicate blockchain applications importance in the context of city residents quality of life and the functioning of various industries operating within them. Design/methodology/approach: The objectives of the paper were achieved by analyzing literature, industry reports as well as selected blockchain projects’ websites. The theoretical scope of the article is the description of blockchain technology application areas within the modern cities, their main characteristics and the potential for its usage. Findings: The author indicated 6 areas of blockchain application, and then indicated a number of functioning solutions based on blockchain referring to them, and also indicated the potential of the impact of the described solutions on the development of the city. In the summary, areas for further research were indicated, referring to slightly differently perceived aspects of the city's development and improving the lives of its inhabitants. Practical implications: The successful implementation of blockchain solutions depends on a large amount of conceptual and technological work in organizations. The article suggests areas of blockchain use in the city and indicates examples of already implemented solutions that can constitute a reference point and inspiration for new solutions. Social implications: The blockchain technology shows the potential to improve the quality of life of city residents in the context of building solutions that eliminate the need for trust in service providers, weakened by frequently observed unethical behavior and negligence in the security and transparency of information flow. The widespread use of blockchain in the city is therefore undoubtedly in the interest of societies. Originality/value: The paper’s originality is expressed in a comprehensive look at the issue of using blockchain in the functioning of modern cities, together with an indication of both the potential of their implementation and already existing solutions in the subject area. Moreover, the author points out social benefits in the form of increased trust and an increase in the city residents quality of life.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to systematize the problems faced by modern supply chains and problems observed in the field of public governance, as well as to indicate solutions to these problems based on the currently developing Distributed Ledger Technology. Design/methodology/approach: The purpose of the article was achieved based on a thorough analysis of contemporary scientific articles and a number of industry reports, as well as websites of institutions involved in the development of DLT with particular emphasis on Blockchain technology. Moreover, two case studies on DLT implementation were presented. Findings: A number of problems have been identified related to the sustainable development of supply chains and societies. They can be systematized by taking into account the concept of the triple bottom line. There are DLT solutions that emphasize sustainable development. Examples of such solutions are described in the article. Research limitations/implications: (if applicable) If research is reported on in the paper, this section must be completed and should include suggestions for future research and any identified limitations in the research process. Practical implications: The use of DLT-based systems in supply chain management and in public management solves specific problems. The article shows how the architecture of DLT systems contributes to the increase in the transparency of the supply chain or public service. Moreover, the article indicates that the implementation of blockchain solutions contributes to increasing the trust in the supply chain management and public governance. Social implications: Described examples of DLT application show a number of benefits for society in terms of pro-ecological behavior, as well as in terms of security of data flowing through the public services system, which is often the subject of public concern. Originality/value: The originality of the article is to emphasize the importance of DLT for shaping sustainable development and to present the described technology as a way to reduce the negative impact of problems identified in the area of both supply chain management and public governance.

Information technology companies often have to setup a specific virtual environment in order to develop innovative software products. Software development requires a variety of IT tools to ensure a smooth flow of information and proper organisation of tasks within the project team. The evolution of information and communication technologies has allowed virtual teams to share knowledge online, which became more preferable than traditional meetings of developers. The main objective of this article is to determine how virtual project teams are being formed and what are the key attributes of a virtual team – a conceptual Three Aspects Model of a virtual team was presented that may be used in further research. An overview of supportive project management software solutions for virtual teams has also been conducted. The research results presented in the paper indicate that various IT tools lack support in some aspects of virtual project teams.

Purpose: The article aims to formulate basic assumptions defining the resilience of complex systems falling within social logistics' scope of interest. The article emphasizes the importance of general systems theory for the contemporary understanding of management sciences, with particular emphasis on logistics. The authors of the article have also characterized, based on the current state of literature, the concept of social logistics as one of the three "clean" types of logistics, positioning it alongside military and economic logistics Design/methodology/approach: The article presents an overview of approaches to the crystallizing issue of social logistics in literature. The analyzed object of research was referred to the general theory of systems and conclusions were drawn in the form of proposals to shape the social logistics system. In addition, the authors presented an original proposal for the composition of the social logistics system based on observation of the activities of social entities and in-depth analysis of Polish and foreign literature. Findings: Then it was proposed to consolidate the term 'social logistics system resilience' and to conduct empirical research along with an outline of the research procedure. The proposed research procedure will be used and the results of research conducted in accordance with it – described in subsequent articles of the authors. Social implications: In the article, it was concluded that the subject of the study is relatively broad, and the link between the topic of social logistics and supply chain resilience is a research gap that will be filled by series of articles, the starting link of which is this one. The analyzes contained in the article refer to a large extent to the problems of comfort in social life, with particular emphasis on human needs of a social nature. Originality/value The originality of the article express in compiling the issues of social logistics with issues of systems’ resilience. In the face of the constantly observed negative phenomena disrupting the functioning of social logistics systems, the topic of their resilience is of particular importance.

Purpose: Systematization of knowledge in the field of defining and occurrence of key activities that make up the overall concept of digital transformation with an indication of the key stages of its implementation. In addition, the aim of the article is also to conduct a comparative analysis of selected models of digital transformation in terms of a number of criteria, such as: the degree of concentration of the model on the selected sector of the economy, the degree of concentration on digital competences, the degree of focus on management concepts, the degree of concentration on digital transformation tools, the degree of focus on the digital maturity of the organization. Design/methodology/approach: The objectives of the article were achieved through an in-depth analysis of the literature on the subject in the field of models of digital transformation emphasizing the stages of its course. The article presents a comparative analysis of models selected in preliminary studies developed by consulting companies and models created as a result of research works by other scientists. Findings: The authors of the article compared the existing models of digital transformation and suggested the need to develop a new model using the partial advantages of the compared models. The authors also indicated a gap in the need to implement a component emphasizing the importance of managing resistance to changes in the organization. Originality/value: The originality of the article consists in drawing a conclusion in the form of a suggestion of the need to develop work in the field of modeling the digital transformation process in the context of the theory of organizational change, with particular emphasis on key competences, focus on methods and resistance to changes in an organization wishing to go through the digital transformation process.
