Introduction. In Latvian community, there is a strong social belief that BMW owners are more aggressive than the drivers of other car brands.Aim of the Study. To investigate the effects of private car's brand (BMW vs. non-BMW), driver's gender, and their interaction on self-reported aggressive driving behaviour among young Latvian drivers.Materials and Methods. Forty BMW owners and forty other brand owners (20 males and 20 females in each group) aged between 20 and 30 years, filled out the ‘Aggressive Driving Scale’ (ADS, Valtere, Perepjolkina, 2006).Results. It was established that drivers owning a sedan type BMW cars reported more aggressive driving behaviour than the drivers of other sedan type vehicle brands, irrespective of their gender.Conclusions. This implies that the vehicle itself, its image or other drivers' assumptions about it may possibly influence the behaviour of the driver.

Recent years have seen a growing interest in the problem of aggressive driving. In the present study two demographic variables (gender and age), two non-psychological driving-experience related variables (annual mileage and legal driving experience in years) and aggressiveness as a personality trait (including behavioural and affective components) as psychological variable of individual differences were examined as potential predictors of aggressive driving. The aim of the study was to find out the best predictors of aggressive driving behaviour. The study was based on an online survey, and 228 vehicle drivers in Latvia participated in it. The questionnaire included eight-item Aggressive Driving Scale (Bone & Mowen, 2006), short Latvian version of the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (AQ; Buss & Perry, 1992), and questions gaining demographic and driving experience information. Gender, age and annual mileage predicted aggressive driving: being male, young and with higher annual driving exposure were associated with higher scores on aggressive driving. Dispositional aggressiveness due to anger component was a significant predictor of aggressive diving score. Physical aggression and hostility were unrelated to aggressive driving. Altogether, the predictors explained a total of 28% of the variance in aggressive driving behaviour. Findings show that dispositional aggressiveness, especially the anger component, as well as male gender, young age and higher annual mileage has a predictive validity in relation to aggressive driving. There is a need to extend the scope of potential dispositional predictors pertinent to driving aggression.

Introduction. In playing percussion instruments, the main activity takes place through movement or motorics, it requires a developed sensomotor coordination.Aim of the Study. Study and verify development of youth's sensomotor coordination in acquisition of playing the percussion instruments.Materials and Methods. Theory methods - analysis of pedagogical, psychological literature; empiric - testing with Vienna test (SMC), ascertaining and forming experiment, parametric statistic analysis.Results. The best results of initial SMC tests belong to the group of professional percussion instrument players, on average by 3.22% worse results were found in the experimental group and by 2% lower results in comparison to the experimental group were found in the control group. In the repeated SMC tests with the experimental group that exercised coordination of percussion instrument play for 6 months, a significant improvement in the indicator characterising sensomotor coordination abilities was found.Conclusions. Extended and regular play of percussion instruments, as well regular training at coordination exercises of percussion instrument play prepared by the author of the research even in six months efficiently develop the youth's sensomotor coordination.
