In training process of rail traffic manager (controller) using virtual reality technology, selection of activities among those assigned to a workplace and scenarios that should be taken in training is an important issue. The selection method that is based on performance variability of her/his activities has been proposed in the paper. This variability has been characterized by timing and precision. The traditional reliability and safety analysis methods are not sufficient when building the training program for traffic managers. In the paper the train controller work has been modelled using Functional Resonance Analysis Method (FRAM) that is system oriented approach. Scales of values of timing and precision that are train transport driven have been presented. They are different when comparing with typical timing and precision scales given in FRAM literature. In the paper the estimation of probabilities of occurring of values of timing and precision scales for these activities has been calculated as the mean from the values obtained by questionnaire done in traffic manager community or using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. In FRAM with AHP approaches presented in literature, AHP pairwise comparison is executed using natural numbers and their reciprocals what is typical in AHP method. In our paper the AHP is used for estimating the probabilities, so in pairwise comparing the rational numbers are applied, because natural numbers and their reciprocals would limit the set of values of probabilities. The activities and scenarios that the training should be concentrated on are selected from those with the greatest variability.

Indian regional navigation satellite system (IRNSS) or Navigation with Indian Constellation (NaVIC) is the satellite-based navigation system, established and controlled by the Indian Space Research Organization. It provides services of positioning, velocity, and timing for civilian and military applications. Ionospheric irregularities cause the fuctuations in the amplitude and phase of the received navigation signals; this phenomenon is known as scintillation. Scintillation can create the error in precise positioning and degrades the position accuracy of the navigation system. It varies with solar activity, geographical location, seasonal variation, day–night time, and elevation angle of satellites. The S4 index is one of the key parameters to estimate the amplitude scintillation to recognize the quality of the navigation signal. In this paper, amplitude scintillation characteristics are studied with IRNSS/GPS/SBAS in the Ahmedabad region which is at the average altitude of 53 m. S4 index is calculated and analyzed using the real-time navigation data of one week. Here, IRNSS/GPS/SBAS receiver with L1, L5, and S-band, is used to collect the data at low altitude station (IITRAM, Ahmedabad). The position error of normal sunny days is calculated using IRNSS/GPS/SBAS receiver. The probability of position error is also derived and found that it follows the gamma distribution function and validate it statistically using a chi-square test. This study also focuses on the efect of elevation of the satellite on the value of carrier to noise ratio at the location of IITRAM.

The paper summarizes our efforts to develop a spike timing neural network model of dynamic visual information processing and decision making inspired by the available knowledge about how the human brain performs this complicated task. It consists of multiple layers with functionality corresponding to the main visual information processing structures starting from the early level of the visual system up to the areas responsible for decision making based on accumulated sensory evidence as well as the basal ganglia modulation due to the feedback from the environment. In the present work, we investigated age-related changes in the spike timing dependent plastic synapses of the model as a result of reinforcement learning.

The Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) is a newly functional regional satellite navigation system around Indian subcontinent. It is also known as its functioning name of NaVIC, Navigation with Indian Constellation, working on L5 and S band. In this paper a compact and low cost circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna is proposed for IRNSS S band application, to provide single frequency navigation solution. Fabrication of proposed antenna is performed using substrate of RT Duroid 5880 with the dimensions of 0.66λ × 0.5λ. The performance of IRNSS is investigated by prototype antenna and Accord made triband antenna with IRNSS/GPS/SBAS receiver which is enable to receive L1, L5 and S band data. The comparison of proposed S band antenna, triband accord system antenna and GPS antenna is presented in terms of carrier to noise ratio and positioning error. Results show that proposed antenna is suitable for S band application of IRNSS receiver.

Based on the principle of synthesizing the matrix of transitional probabilities, processes of decision-making support by means of the truncated procedures of type (k/n)n (k≤n) are considered. Obtained expressions for calculating the time-efficiency of the processes of decision support using procedures type (k/4)4 are shown. There are given calculated by the expressions obtained data time efficiency, which will enable a quantitative comparison between different procedures and select the best of them on the basis of specific practical tasks.

The purpose of this paper was to present the influence of the four stroke engine valve train parameters on the efficiency of cylinder filling. Examples of variable valve timing system were shown as well. The effect of valve timing and lift change versus fill of the cylinder were shown using a simplified mathematical model of charge exchange in the cylinder. The performed calculations show that maximum efficiency of cylinder filling is achieved at the lowest engine rotation speeds. At the maximum engine rotation speeds, at which we expect the largest performance, it is necessary to select the appropriate moment of opening and closing of the intake valves.

Purpose: The primary aim of this study is to investigate the potential benefit of the Teager–Kaiser Energy Operator (TKEO) as data pre-processor, in an autonomous burst detection method to classify electromyographic signals of the (fore)arm and hand. For this purpose, optimal settings of the burst detector, leading to minimal detection errors, need to be known. Additionally, the burst detector is applied to real muscle activity recorded in healthy adults performing reach-to-grasp movements. Methods: The burst detector was based on the Approximated Generalized Likelihood Ratio (AGLR). Simulations with synthesized electromyographic (EMG) traces with known onset and offset times, yielded optimal settings for AGLR parameters “window width” and “threshold value” that minimized detection errors. Next, comparative simulations were done with and without TKEO data pre-processing. Correct working of the burst detector was verified by applying it to real surface EMG signals obtained from arm and hand muscles involved in a submaximal reach-to-grasp task, performed by healthy adults. Results: Minimal detection errors were found with a window width of 100 ms and a detection threshold of 15. Inclusion of the TKEO contributed significantly to a reduction of detection errors. Application of the autonomous burst detector to real data was feasible. Conclusions: The burst detector was able to classify muscle activation and create Muscle Onset Offset Profiles (MOOPs) autonomously from real EMG data, which allows objective comparison of MOOPs obtained from movement tasks performed in different conditions or from different populations. The TKEO contributed to improved performance and robustness of the burst detector.

Content available remote Modelling and Checking Timed Authentication of Security Protocols
EN
In this paper we offer a novel methodology for verifying correctness of (timed) security protocols. The idea consists in computing the time of a correct execution of a session and finding out whether the Intruder can change it to shorter or longer by an active attack. Moreover, we generalize the correspondence property so that attacks can be also discovered when some time constraints are not satisfied. An implementation of our method is described. As case studies we verify generalized (timed) authentication of KERBEROS, TMN, Neumann Stubblebine Protocol, Andrew Secure Protocol, Wide Mouthed Frog, and NSPK.

An integral part of management is the rationalization of the existing processes. The presupposition for their successful realization is the knowledge of processes of interest, and namely including the times of single operations duration. The same it is also in the sphere of quarrying. For finding out of mining operations and their partial parts time durations the utilization of timing seems to be interesting. The contribution presents the time observation as the process whereby it is focused on one of mining operations, and namely technological transport. The gravity centre of the contribution can be seen in description of preparatory and realization phases of the time consumption observation.

Content available remote Process Algebra with Nonstandard Timing
EN
The possibility of two or more actions to be performed consecutively at the same point in time is not excluded in the process algebras from the framework of process algebras with timing presented by Baeten and Middelburg [Handbook of Process Algebra, Elsevier, 2001, Chapter 10]. This possibility is useful in practice when describing and analyzing systems in which actions occur that are entirely independent. However, it is an abstraction of reality to assume that actions can be performed consecutively at the same point in time. In this paper, we propose a process algebra with timing in which this possibility is excluded, but nonstandard non-negative real numbers are included in the time domain. It is shown that this new process algebra generalizes the process algebras with timing from the aforementioned framework in a smooth and natural way.
