Cryptography is a field of science necessary to solve problems with encryption of classified messages. The security of electronic information is an integral part of the digital tachography system. From year to year, there is a noticeable increase in electronic data logging systems in many aspects of life. The control measures created for the purpose of performing roadside checks are not sufficient to detect all violations in the recording equipment. Many violations that have occurred during the use of the vehicle are stored in the device’s memory. The article describes the basic mathematical rules illuminating cryptography. The hazards to which the motion sensor installed in the vehicle may be exposed are described. Breaking safety in transport systems may lead to incorrect results of inspections carried out while the vehicle is stopped by authorized services. The article also provides information on the authorities responsible for issuing cards for digital tachographs. Nowadays, documents are increasingly issued with the use of a digital signature. The digital signature of its origin is based on the principles of cryptography. The security key seems to be complicated for the average user. The article discusses the topic of tachograph construction, in particular the schematic responsible for information encryption.

The tachograph is the oldest recording device, which belongs to the Group of ORD (On Board Recording Devices). It was introduced in the USA in 1939. Digital tachograph, the new advanced type of recording device in road transport, was introduced by Council Regulation No 2135/98 of 24 September 1998 with the beginning of May 2006, in the area of the European Union. “In contrast to its analogue predecessors the digital tachograph was introduced to facilitate the control of rest and driving times and to prevent manipulation attempt” [1]. In order to prevent abuse, it has been made the system of cryptologic keys and certificates stored in cards and devices, allowing to create an explicit laws of users and authentic data recorded in, cards and devices. Despite the usage of the most advanced keys and protection systems, it has been observed that, in relation to the elements of the digital tachograph system, there are many ways to register invalid data. The European Union has taken action to prevent them, however, they must be implemented in daily life.

The inventor of the tachograph was Max Maria von Weber, an administrative official, engineer and author. The Hasler Event Recorder was introduced in the 1920s. Regrettably, the construction of analogue tachograph, an original type of tachograph used in road transport, encouraged to numerous frauds and counterfeits of social rules for drivers In order to solve these all problems, they led with Directive of Advice No. 2135/98 from 24 September 1998 of the August of 2004 from the beginning of in the area of the European Union, new type of registering setting up in the road transport - digital tachograph. In order to make it impossible to abuse, a complex system of keys was applied cryptological and of certificates, saved in grating and devices, letting for explicit determining entitlements of users and authenticities of data, cards and devices. In spite of using, the most modern keys and securing systems, with respect to elements of the system of digital tachographs a lot of modus operandi were observed so that they registered wrong sizes. The European Union took right action in order to before to prevent, nevertheless they must be implemented into the everyday life. Those paper is include information about level of manipulation of digital tachograph and their elements, ways of manipulations of digital tachograph and future ways of counteracting manipulations.

Tachograf jest najstarszym urządzeniem rejestrującym, które należy do Grupy ORD (On Board Recordign Devices). Zostało to wprowadzone w USA w 1939. Tachograf cyfrowy, nowy zaawansowany typ urządzenia rejestrującego w transporcie drogowym, został przedstawiony przez rozporządzenie Komisji nr 2135/98 z 24 września 1998, a wprowadzony z początkiem maja 2006, w obszarze Unii Europejskiej. "W odróżnieniu od jego poprzedników tachografów analogowych z tachografem cyfrowym zaproponowano wyższy poziom nadzoru nad odpoczynkiem i czasami związanymi z prowadzeniem i nie niedopuszczeniem do próby manipulacji" [1]. Aby nie dopuszczać do nadużycia zastosowano system kluczy kryptologicznych i świadectw zapisanych w kartach i urządzeniach. Jednocześnie pozwalając stworzyć wyraźne granice dla użytkowników i autentycznych danych zarejestrowanych w kartach i urządzeniach. Pomimo wykorzystania najbardziej zaawansowanych kluczy i systemów ochrony, został zauważony, w stosunku do elementów cyfrowego systemu tachografu, że jest wiele sposobów manipulacji zapisywanych danych. Unia Europejska podjęła działania by uniemożliwić powyższe czynności, jednakże muszą być one wprowadzone w życie.
