The article aims to present the role of supplier evaluation criteria in reducing purchasing risk. Before a purchasing enterprise starts cooperating with suppliers, it set specific requirements and expectations. The fulfilment of these requirements and expectations is verified through the evaluation of suppliers. Evaluation results should indicate potential risks that may arise in the development of partnership cooperation. The article includes the results of empirical research conducted using the computerassisted telephone interviewing (CATI) technique in medium and large manufacturing companies operating in Poland. The results of the conducted empirical research indicate that companies wishing to partner with suppliers try to limit the level of risk associated with purchases. When evaluating suppliers, manufacturers focus mainly on reducing the risk associated with the defective technical quality of products, timely deliveries, delivery flexibility, time to restore continuity of deliveries, completeness of order fulfilment and delivery documentation, as well as price competitiveness. Also, in the evaluation of suppliers, companies operating in Poland are beginning to pay attention to the reduction of negative environmental impact.

Purpose: The main purpose of this article was to present the actions taken by the food manufacturer in the field of its defence against fraud. Design/methodology/approach: Ensuring food safety requires the active participation of the enterprise on two levels, preventing accidental and intentional food contamination. In order to supervise the area related to accidental food contamination, obligatory HACCP system and voluntary quality and safety management standards are implemented in enterprises. These include ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRC or IFS. In turn, the area related to intentional food contamination requires action to reduce the risk of food contamination and food fraud. The adopted methodology for the evaluation of raw materials and their suppliers in the food fraud area is based on the IFS guidelines, as well as an approach developed by the author of this study, who participated in the implementation of this methodology in the company. Findings: The analyzed company is characterized by having a high cultural level of food safety and quality - actions are taken there to support its development at various levels. Among these are leadership, communication, employee involvement and risk awareness. This approach guarantees that the developed product fraud reduction plan will positively evolve in this company so as to meet and surmount changing risk factors. Originality/value: The article presents the practical application of IFS guidelines in the area of food fraud. In addition, a template for the vulnerability assessment form was designed and criteria for the assessment of control measures were specified.

For each company, the process of selecting and evaluating suppliers of both the components needed for production and the implementation of production process is a very important aspect of their business, as the selection of appropriate contractors has an impact on the quality of final product, which is offered to customers. Dynamically changing situation in the company’s environment causes that success is achieved by those companies which implement new solutions and tools in their relations with suppliers. One such solution may include the PN-EN ISO 9001:2015 standard, which requires the organization to evaluate and select suppliers, taking into account their ability to provide a product compliant with the organization’s requirements. This paper presents a proposal to supplement the procedure of supplier qualification in a selected company. Attention was drawn to the fact that it is necessary for the modern organization to have access to database of qualified suppliers, who at the time of arising demand are able to meet the requirements set for them. It is also important for the enterprise to have at least two qualified suppliers for the same component in its database. Such an approach results from the current market requirements. The paper is based on a case study as a recognized method of analyzing and discussing authentic situations applied in management sciences.

The supplier selection process is very important to companies as selecting the right suppliers that fit companies strategy needs brings drastic savings. Therefore, this paper seeks to address the key area of supplies evaluation from the supplier review perspective. The purpose was to identify the most important criteria for suppliers’ evaluation and develop evaluation tool based on surveyed criteria. The research was conducted through structured questionnaire and the sample focused on small to medium sized companies (SMEs) in Greece. In total eighty companies participated in the survey answering the full questionnaire which consisted of questions whether these companies utilize some suppliers’ evaluation criteria and what criteria if any is applied. The main statistical instrument used in the study is Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Thus, the research has shown that the main criteria are: the attitude of the vendor towards the customer, supplier delivery time, product quality and price. Conclusions are made on the suitability and usefulness of suppliers’ evaluation criteria and in way they are applied in enterprises.

Według tradycyjnej procedury ocena i wybór dostawców następuje przed podpisaniem umowy i rozpoczęciem realizacji dostaw. Następnie w ramach przeglądów okresowych przeprowadzana jest weryfikacja na podstawie wiedzy o historii dostaw. W prezentowanej pracy zaproponowano miarę probabilistyczną, która może być wykorzystywana w tej okresowej ocenie. Na podstawie danych historycznych dotyczących niezgodności dostaw tworzone są charakterystyki dostawców w formie rozkładów statystycznych. Pozwala to na wyznaczanie prawdopodobieństwa występowania określonych niezgodności i określania ryzyka wystąpienia niedoborów zaburzających proces produkcji. Przedstawiona miara o charakterze ilościowym może być elementem kreowania zasad gospodarki magazynowej.

According to the traditional procedure, evaluation and selection of suppliers is made before signing the contract and the commencement of delivery. Then, within the framework of periodic re-evaluation, verification based on knowledge of the history of supplies is applied. In the present article a probabilistic measure is proposed, which can be used for the interim assessment. On the basis of historical data on the non-compliance of supply, the characteristics of providers are created in the form of statistical distributions. This allows the determination of the probability of occurrence of certain mismatches and determination of the risk of shortage occurrence, which interferes the production process. Presented quantitative measure can be an element in creation the rules of warehouse management.

Zapewnienie właściwej i terminowej dostawy wyrobów do klienta jest jednym z podstawowych elementów procesu obsługi klienta w przedsiębiorstwie produkcyjnym. Krytycznym etapem jest wybór dostawcy, gdyż dla odbiorcy jest to przedstawiciel producenta. Ocena przez klienta usługi dostawy jest oceną producenta. Artykuł przedstawia wytyczne opracowywania standardu jakości usługi transportowej, model oceny dostawcy usług transportowych oraz proces zarządzania ryzykiem w procesie oceny i wyboru dostawcy usług transportowych.

Ensuring proper and timely delivery of products to the customer is one of the basic elements of the customer service process in a manufacturing company. The selection of suppliers is a critical step because for the recipient they are a representative of the manufacturer. The customer's evaluation of the delivery service is an evaluation of the manufacturer. This article presents guidelines for the development of standards for the quality of the transport service, a model of the evaluation of a transport services supplier, and the risk management process for the evaluation and selection of transport services suppliers.
