Purpose: The aim of this paper is to present an original proposal of a methodology to test the competencies of the young generation and how it may be used for working with young people. Design/methodology/approach: The research methodology presented in this paper is inspired by the assessment centre method, which is adapted for the purposes of testing the young generation, so that their competence potential may be determined based on original tasks. Findings: The paper describes what detailed competencies are revealed during the task performance. It allows to determine how a teacher may stimulate the development of a particular competency in a student by using it in the teaching process. It is demonstrated how introducing certain tasks to be done by students as part of their school life allows the young people to face potential challenges of the future labour market. Research limitations/implications: The paper presents the strengths and weaknesses of the presented methodology of competency test, pointing out to the difficulties caused by the time consumption involved in the completion of it. Practical implications: The research tools presented in this article allow for a multi-stage and multifaceted process of simulating the challenges which will be faced by young people when choosing a career. This way, young people could face varying challenges to help them determine what requirements and expectations they will face further in the education process and later, when entering the labour market under the Economy 4.0 conditions. Social implications: The education system must be improved towards a more practical approach to teaching and its better alignment with the requirements set out by the contemporary labour market. The prepared tools allow a teacher to determine the competencies held by a student and encourage his or her further development. Originality/value: The prepared tasks and the way of analysis of the results of the research are an original achievement of the research team who developed them. The developed methodology may expand the educational toolbox of teachers.

W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie wykorzystania rzeczywistości wirtualnej do badania wpływu przemysłowego robota współpracującego na pracownika, w szczególności wywołany bliską obecnością robota niepokój. Opisano procedurę badań obejmującą symulację w rzeczywistości wirtualnej współpracy z robotem przy montażu elementów silników. Przedstawiono narzędzia kwestionariuszowe planowane do użycia w trakcie badań z ochotnikami oraz wyniki badań pilotażowych. Wyniki właściwych badań opisane zostaną w drugiej części artykułu.

The article presents the issue of the use of the virtual reality in order to study the impact of an industrial collaborative robot on an employee, in particular anxiety caused by the close presence of the robot. The research procedure is described, including simulation in virtual reality of cooperation with a robot during the assembly of engine components. The questionnaire tools planned to be used in research with volunteers and the results of the pilot research are described. The results of the final research will be described in the second part of the article.

W artykule przedstawiono wybrane narzędzia, metody i techniki wykorzystywane w badaniach kultury informacyjnej, kompetencji informacyjnych i informatycznych oraz międzykulturowych prowadzonych przez przedstawicieli różnych dyscyplin naukowych: informatyków zajmujących się nowoczesnymi technologiami nauczania (Stanisław Ubermanowicz, Tadeusz Piątek), socjologów (Sylwia Jaskuła, Leszek Korporowicz), bibliologów i informatologów (Mariola Anczak, Hanna Batorowska). Szczególną uwagę wymienieni badacze zwrócili na proces ewaluacji poziomu kultury informacyjnej ściśle związany ze świadomością, postawami i zachowaniami młodych i dorosłych użytkowników informacji.

In the article was presented tools, methods and techniques exploited in examinations of the information culture, information literacy and computer and cross-cultural fields of study led by different representatives were presented: of computer specialists dealing with modern technologies of the teaching (Stanisław Ubermanowicz, Tadeusz Piątek), of sociologists (Sylwia Jaskuła, Leszek Korporowicz), information specialists (Mariola Anczak, Hanna Batorowska). Listed researchers paid special attention to the process of the evaluation of the level of the information culture closely connected with the awareness, with attitudes and behaviours of young and adult users of information.

The article shows the exemplary use of qualitative and quantitative methods to conduct analysis, interpretation and presentation of research results in the field of social sciences. The creation of the Ishikawa diagram and the way the Pareto-Lorenz analysis is conducted, as well as the mutual relationship between these methods while interpreting research results, has been discussed in detail. The possibilities of the practical use of the methods above have been presented in the example of the analysis of the report on Causes of Unjust Convictions in Poland by the Civil Development Forum.

Artykuł przybliża problematykę badań nad korupcją. Umiejscawia zjawisko korupcji w obszarze nauk o bezpieczeństwie i obronności, wskazuje możliwe spektrum badawcze, określa cele i specyfikę badań naukowych związanych z tym zagadnieniem, a także prezentuje wybrane metody przeprowadzania badań zjawiska korupcji. Autorzy podkreślają znaczenie i wpływ tego rodzaju badań na system bezpieczeństwa państwa.

The article discusses problems with research on corruption in the context of security and defense sciences; what is more, it indicates possible areas of research, the aim and specifics of research on corruption, as well as describes chosen methods of research. Regarding either the wide scope of the issue or conditions having an influence on the research results, the authors of the article are trying to struggle with a range of approaches throughout a revision of the latest domestic and foreign publications. At the same time they paid attention to the role of such research for the state security system.
