The theory that pupillary changes can reflect human psychophysical character was confirmed in several conducted studies. Authors of those studies have used devices called eye trackers in order to measure pupillary changes, blinking rate, eye movement patterns or even a gaze position. The main goal of those apparatuses is to locate the pupil on a given image using implemented pupil detection algorithms. In this paper the main focus will be set on several states of art pupil detection methods. All represent different approaches to performing the same tasks in diffcult situations for ex.: low/high condition, low image resolutions or low contrast.

The CLIL method is a relatively new trend in education. It is a combination of content and language learning (from the English: Content and Language Integrated Learning). The article is focused on using the CLIL method in the Czech Republic. The article explores the influence of this method on students’ motivation, too.

Elements of theory of divisibility are present in many various interesting mathematical tasks, especially in tasks that are addressed to talented pupils taking part in mathematical competitions. Good understanding of it lets solve very interesting and difficult (at first glance) issues. On the other hand, there are a lot of problems with understanding such terms as: multiple, divisor, divisibility, prime number, LCM, GCD etc. The purpose of the article is presenting the base terms of theory in the language understood for pupil of the gymnasium (3-rd educational level, 13-16 years old). In addition, we present some algorithms that are used to solve problems from the theory of divisibility and we discuss the influence the choice of the algorithm on its effectiveness (so we analyse its complexity). Presented algorithms let us create computer programs that solve the problems mechanically. We also enlarge a bit some topics for those ones which can be taught in the class of pupils which are interested in Mathematics.

An historical background to the teaching of chemistry is presented, together with examples of great teachers from the past. Some aspects of the modern English school chemistry syllabus are discussed, both from the point of view of its theoretical content and its aim in helping children to develop practical skills. Chemistry Clubs, Open days and popular science lectures are also mentioned as a means of stimulating interest in chemistry as taught in schools.

W artykule przedstawiono tło historyczne nauczania chemii; podano także przykłady wybitnych nauczycieli z przeszłości. Omówiono wybrane elementy programu nauczania chemii w szkołach angielskich z punktu widzenia zawartości teoretycznej, jak również przydatności w rozwijaniu przez uczniów umiejętności praktycznych. Jako dodatkowe sposoby wzbudzania zainteresowania chemią szkolną przedstawiono także działalność kółek chemicznych, organizowanie dni otwartych oraz wykładów popularnonaukowych.

In this paper, a new method for an improved image password lock system by tracing position information of the pupil is described. The present technology relates to an efficient auto-detecting function, and in particular, to an image password lock system, which can provide the benefits of a novel password input mode without any contact. In this system, a PC camera device detects a movable target object to read a dynamic eye image data. Moreover, the dynamic eye image data has a predetermined shooting range set to be a whole-region image, and the whole-region image has a central region and a plurality of specific password regions. A target eye image is displayed by a display device, and then processed by an image processing device, thereby calculating a center coordinate point of the target eye image in the dynamic image data, compiling a password constituted by a movement position of the target object image, displaying the password, and validating the password. Therefore, the benefits of a novel password input mode without any contact, an efficient anti-theft function, are provided.

Przedstawiono najpierw rolę chemii w kształceniu ogólnym, w warunkach gwałtownych przemian cywilizacyjnych i społecznych, w których nabiera znaczenia humanistyczna edukacja przyrodnicza i wynikające z niej wartości uniwersalne. Ukazano tu możliwości chemii jako przedmiotu przyrodniczego o cechach humanistycznych i społecznych w odkrywaniu i budowaniu wartości, jakimi uczniowie mogą kierować się w życiu. W dalszej kolejności opisano badania, które dostarczyły informacji, jak walory humanistyczne i społeczne chemii i z jakim skutkiem są wykorzystywane w procesie nauczania do kształtowania postaw i zachowań uczniów. W podsumowaniu omówiono różnorodne działania nauczyciela, prowadzące do większej efektywności realizacji celów wychowawczych na lekcjach chemii.

First the role of chemistry in general education in the conditions of rapid civilization and social transformations in which humanistic science education and the universal values resulting from it are becoming more and more important is discussed. The role of chemistry as a science subject of humanistic and social features in discovering and building the values pupils can be guided by in life is shown. The studies providing the information how humanistic and social attributes of chemistry are used in the teaching process to form pupils’ attitudes and behaviours are also presented. Various teachers’ activities leading to more effective accomplishment of educational aims during chemistry lessons are discussed.
