The aim of this article is to draw reader’s attention on unique paper properties – as a most reliable data carrier, permanence of which confirms natural aging test – the flow of time. Paper has persisted the influence of different destructive factors and the content can be read without any unnecessary readers, complicated devices. Author – the conservator – tries to prove that the contemporary civilization leaves emptiness behind it because millions of photographs in digital form appear in the Web so fast as they disappear. The pictures of contemporary world are stored in virtual reality. What do we leave for the coming generations – only data stored on carriers of uncertain permanence? The article is also an appeal to artists and editors for contribution to mass pictures/events of contemporary world recording on paper substrates – not on other carriers. It is also an appeal to paper manufacturers that they do not be influenced by fashion to production of paper full of “improvers” – our civilization needs permanent paper, with natural colour and without mirror gloss like plastics.

A method of disease areas detection on agricultural plants is proposed based on image processing using textural and fractal characteristics of images. The developed method was implemented in a joint segmentation algorithm of aerial photograph. It is applied in a decision-making system, which is a part of software-hardware complex for agriculture application.
