Zapewnienie dostępności produktów stało się warunkiem umożliwiającym przychód ze sprzedaży i jednocześnie pozwalającym przedsiębiorstwom zdobywać nowe rynki zbytu. Jednymi z kluczowych elementów wpływającym na poziom dostępności produktów w łańcuchu dostaw są czynności manipulacyjne wykonywane w węzłach logistycznych, a szczególnie proces komisjonowania. Realizacja zamówień w węzłach logistycznych obejmuje około 55% - 65% kosztów operacyjnych. Poprawa efektywności komisjonowania wpływa nie tylko na obniżkę kosztów operacyjnych ale przede wszystkim na podniesienie poziomu obsługi klienta. Autorzy, przy pomocy zastosowanych metod symulacyjnych, analizują wpływ różnych czynników na czas procesu komisjonowania zamówień w magazynie.

Providing the availability of products appeared to be the crucial condition for generating income from the sales as well as making possible for the companies to conquer new markets. The one of the most important elements affecting the level of products availability in the supply chain are the manipulation activities performed in logistics hubs, especially – the order picking process. The order execution in the logistics hubs covers around 55% - 65% of the operational costs. Improvement of the order picking influences the reduction of operational cost and increases the level of customer service. Authors, using the simulation methods, analyse the influence of different factors on the time period of order picking process in the warehouse.

W artykule zaprezentowano najważniejsze rezultaty badań i analiz europejskiego rynku logistycznego, które w ostatnich dwóch latach zostały przeprowadzone przez trzy międzynarodowe firmy doradcze tj. Colliers International, Prologis i Knight Frank, a następnie opublikowane w formie odpowiednich raportów. Płynące z nich informacje są o tyle istotne, gdyż mogą wspomóc podejmowanie racjonalnych decyzji inwestycyjnych i rozwojowych wielu podmiotom gospodarczym funkcjonujących na rynku europejskim. Z raportów wynika, że najlepsze lokalizacje logistyczne znajdują się przede wszystkim na obszarze tzw. „błękitnego banana”, czyli pasa ciągnącego się łagodnym łukiem od Anglii przez Belgię, Holandię, zachodnią część Niemiec, Szwajcarię, aż po północne Włochy. W ostatnich latach zauważalny jest jednak systematyczny wzrost zainteresowania krajami Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej, które odgrywają coraz większe znaczenie w europejskiej sieci logistycznej.

The paper presents the main results of research and analysis of the European logistics market, which have been carried out by three international consulting firms in the last two years, it means Colliers International, Prologis and Knight Frank, and then published in the form of appropriate reports. The information contained in these reports are so important because they can help to make rational investment and development decisions of many business entities operating in the European market. Reports show that the best logistics locations are mainly located in the "Blue Banana", that is the belt stretching gentle arc from England by Belgium, the Netherlands, Western Germany, Switzerland, to the north of Italy. However, in recent years a steady growth of interest in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, which play an increasingly important in the European logistics network is noticeable.

Logistics hubs are considered for an important element in the logistics chain. They reduce downtimes during transport of cargo between suppliers and consumers. They offer a wide range of logistics services such as handling, storage or distribution of cargo. Logistics hubs which arise randomly or according to a set mode have various forms. Inland ports can also be considered for logistics hubs. Inland ports together with vessels and waterways create the pillars of the inland navigation system. They participate in transport of cargo between consignors and consignees.
