It is shown that modern geometry cars, flaw detector cars and other track test cars provide reliable control of the technical condition of all hauls of the railroad track at “certain intervals of time”. Their number is limited and therefore “continuous monitoring” of all hauls is almost impossible. At the same time, in real life, due to the impact of various factors, such as seismic processes, certain changes take place even a day after control. The authors consider one option for continuous monitoring of the beginning of changes in the technical condition of the track using intelligent tools, which allow one, by analyzing the useful signal and the noise from the soil vibrations caused by the rolling stock, to create informative attributes for identifying the technical condition of the track. The application of traditional technologies of correlation and spectral analysis and other methods for this purpose does not allow ensuring adequacy of the control results. This paper proposes a technology for extracting and analyzing useful vibration signals, the noise of vibration signals and the relationship between them. The estimates of both correlation and spectral characteristics of the useful signal and the noise are used as the main carriers of diagnostic information. Due to the simplicity and the reliability of implementation of the proposed technical tools, they can be easily installed in one of the cars of all rolling stocks, providing control of the beginning of changes in the technical condition of the track during their movement in all hauls

The article deals with the features and characteristics of intelligent systems for modelling business processes. Their classification was made and criteria for comparison were developed. According to the comparative analysis of existing expert systems for intelligent analysis, a reasonable choice of system for modelling business processes of a particular enterprise has been carried out. In general, it was found that the introduction of intelligent systems for modelling business processes of the enterprise and forecasting its activities for future allows management of the company to obtain relevant and necessary information for the adoption of effective management decisions and the development of a strategic plan.

The study aimed to develop a system supporting technological process planning for machining and 3D printing. Such a system should function similarly to the way human experts act in their fields of expertise and should be capable of gathering the necessary knowledge, analysing data, and drawing conclusions to solve problems. This could be done by utilising artificial intelligence (AI) methods available within such systems. The study proved the usefulness of AI methods and their significant effectiveness in supporting technological process planning. The purpose of this article is to show an intelligent system that includes knowledge, models, and procedures supporting the company’s employees as part of machining and 3D printing. Few works are combining these two types of processing. Nowadays, however, these two types of processing overlap each other into a common concept of hybrid processing. Therefore, in the opinion of the authors, such a comprehensive system is necessary. The system-embedded knowledge takes the form of neural networks, decision trees, and facts. The system is presented using the example of a real enterprise. The intelligent expert system is intended for process engineers who have not yet gathered sufficient experience in technological-process planning, or who have just begun their work in a given production enterprise and are not very familiar with its machinery and other means of production.

In contrast to traditional systems for monitoring fault of the running gear of the rolling stock, this paper proposes a technology of noise control at the onset of defects. The authors consider the possibility of creating an intelligent system that can perform noise diagnostics with the indication of the beginning of the latent period of the initiation of typical defects preceding faults. To this end, using the noise technology, sets of reference informative attributes are created in the training process. The reference sets, in turn, are used to determine the condition of the object at the beginning of the development of defects by comparing them with current noise estimates. It also allows controlling the dynamics of the development of defects.

The purpose of the article is developing the locomotive structure of intellectual system of support of decision-making and to find a criterion by which to adequately assess different control action to the train. System of decision support for locomotive crew is seen as a complex structure with complex interactions located at a great distance, on-board locomotive systems. The quality of the organization determines the effectiveness of the system as a whole. To solve the problem of creating the optimal structure of the DSS applies the aggregate-decomposition method that involves two steps: decomposition of the problem into a number of subproblems and aggregating the partial results. To evaluate the quality control of a locomotive used the concept of control strategy with specific indicators. Design is developed and structure of locomotive DSS is obtained, taking into account peculiarities of operation of railway transport. To account for not only quantitative but also qualitative characteristics of activity of the locomotive or intellectual systems of decision support, it is proposed to use methods of fuzzy logic. So were able to deduce and calculate the additive criterion of the quality control activities of the intelligent system. Formal indicator of the quality of the train control process using different strategies is received. In the work theoretically grounded definition of the weighting factors for each partial criterion of the quality of train control. Using the dependencies derived, the nature of the influence of the value of partial criteria on the quality of train control in relation to a strategy. The results of the work allow to more accurately simulate the operations of a locomotive crew, which in the future will serve as the basis for the development of autonomous intelligent systems of locomotive control. The developed method is shown to be three main criteria which values the safety, energy consumption, and execution time schedule. However, for more flexible and accurate model, this approach allows to enter additional criteria, and the simplicity of the calculation provides the necessary speed when implemented on on-board locomotive computers.

The deployment of appropriate technologies to enhance modern agricultural practices and improve crop yields is imperative for sustainability. This paper presents the development of a standalone automated irrigation system. The system design features good automation and control, which was achieved using an array of electronic timing system, soil feedback sensor and wireless communication system. Autonomous irrigation events are based on the states of the timing system, the soil feedback system and the wireless communication system. The control and automation of these systems was done using an AVR microcontroller, which was programmed to trigger intelligent and independent farm irrigation operation through a water pump attached to the system. The system also operates remotely via SMS command from mobile device and sends operational status feedback via SMS to preprogrammed mobile user(s). It also sends soil moisture condition to a remote user upon query. The system package was produced using additive manufacturing technique. The power supply system was implemented using solar power system in order to achieve a standalone, autonomous and reliable power supply necessary for an independent operation. The performance evaluation of the developed system show impressive response time, good reliability and excellent stability. Furthermore, the numerical experiment conducted using the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) produced a mathematical model for the optimization of the irrigation process for optimum performance and cost effectiveness.

Intelligent control systems are actively developing and can significantly reduce financial costs and improve the environmental performance of ore-dressing processes. Usage of intelligent control systems for gravitational enrichment allows to minimize costs and negative influence of ore tails on the environment, exclude losses of concentrate and energy resources in the ore-dressing process. The paper discusses the problems and prospects for the application of intelligent control systems of gravity concentration equipment. A structure of the control system and an intelligent model for determining the frequency of pulsation jigging machine based on fuzzy logic are proposed. The model is based on data obtained from experts, it is researched. The obtained results allow to judge about the prospects for the implementation of intelligent systems in the management of ore enrichment.

Zastosowanie inteligentnych systemów zarządzania wzbogacaniem grawitacyjnym zminimalizuje koszty i negatywny wpływ odpadów przeróbczych na środowisko, wyeliminuje straty koncentratu i zasobów energetycznych w procesie zagęszczania rudy. W artykule omówiono problemy i perspektywy zastosowania inteligentnych systemów sterowania urządzeń do wzbogacania metodą grawitacyjną. Zaproponowano strukturę systemu sterowania i model inteligentny do określania częstotliwości maszyny sedymentacyjnej na bazie logiki rozmytej. Model opiera się na danych otrzymanych od ekspertów. Uzyskane wyniki pozwalają nam ocenić perspektywy wdrożenia inteligentnych systemów w procesach kontroli przerobu rudy.

The paper presents the distribution of costs of functioning of a building over a period of several decades of its use. Above all, devices and systems which consume electricity and thermal energy were taken into account. The necessity to select an appropriate method of temperature control in order to achieve measurable economic benefits and the impact of these benefits on the life and work of the building users were clarified. The methods and modes of temperature control in rooms based on real installation made using the Teletask intelligent building system were described. The design of the temperature control system for living and office spaces was prepared. The measurements, using the Teletask system components were carried out in order to indicate the time during which the heating system was to be switched on and off, while ensuring the set temperature in the room. An estimation was made with regards to the possible savings owing to the installation of the building intelligent system for temperature control in rooms intended for various purposes.

W pracy przedstawiono rozkład kosztów funkcjonowania budynku na przestrzeni kilkudziesięciu lat jego eksploatacji. Uwzględniono przede wszystkim urządzenia i systemy zużywające energię elektryczną i cieplną. Wyjaśniono konieczność dobrania odpowiedniej metody sterowania temperaturą umożliwiającą osiągnięcie wymiernych korzyści ekonomicznych oraz ich wpływ na komfort życia i pracy użytkowników obiektu. Opisano metody i tryby sterowania temperaturą pomieszczeń w oparciu o rzeczywistą instalację wykonaną przy użyciu system inteligentnego budynku Teletask. Wykonano projekt systemu sterowania temperaturą dla pomieszczenia mieszkalnego oraz biurowego. Przeprowadzono pomiary z wykorzystaniem elementów systemu Teletask w celu wyznaczenia czasu załączenia i wyłączenia systemu grzewczego przy zapewnieniu zadanej temperatury pomieszczenia. Wyznaczono zakres oszczędności dzięki zainstalowaniu systemu inteligentnego budynku do sterowania temperaturą dla pomieszczeń o różnym przeznaczeniu.

In this work a modular intelligent fixture system for flexible clamping of large parts is presented. The fixture modules consist of a hybrid material structure involving metal frame elements and mineral casting. These modules can be combined and connected to realize fixtures adapted to the geometry of the workpiece and requirements of the machining processes. By integrated pipes and interfaces, an internal hydraulic supply and active cooling is possible even for combined modules. Temperature and acceleration sensors allow for an active thermal control and process monitoring. The modules and first test fixtures are investigated in experiments.

This paper presents a prototype system being part of an Integrated System of Supporting Information Management in Passenger Traffic (ZSIKRP Demonstrator+). The system is tested on a demonstration scale in real conditions. It should be noted that main problems for carriers, rolling stock manufacturers and factories that modernize rolling stock are: multiple installation manuals and ways of maintenance. They lead to confusion during the exploitation of rolling stock. The prototype system offers an integrated solution with a unified service, which improves the comfort and safety of passengers. Moreover, ZSIKRP system focuses largely on ensuring the safety of travelers in electric EN57 1756 and diesel SA 132 006 vehicles. It takes into account the possibility of practical implementation of the module allowing automatic detection of an improper behavior of drivers. It is done at rail crossings by continuous image analysis and abnormal situations recording.

Artykuł przedstawia prototypowy system będący częścią zintegrowanego systemu wspomagającego zarządzanie informacją w ruchu pasażerskim (ZSIKRP Demonstrator +). System został zweryfikowany w skali demonstracyjnej w rzeczywistych warunkach. Należy zauważyć, że główne problemy dla przewoźników, producentów taboru kolejowego i fabryk, które modernizją tabor kolejowy to: powielane instrukcje instalacyjne i procedury utrzymania. W konsekwencji prowadzą one do nieporozumień w trakcie eksploatacji taboru. Prototypowy system oferuje zintegrowane rozwiązania dla ujednoliconych obsług i usług, co wpływa na poprawę komfortu i bezpieczeństwa pasażerów. System ZSIKRP skupia się głównie na zapewnieniu bezpieczeństwa podróżnych w pojazdach EN57 1756 i SA 132 006. Uwzględniono również możliwość praktycznego wdrożenia modułu umożliwiającego automatyczne wykrywanie nieprawidłowego zachowania kierowców. Realizowane jest to dzięki modułowi ciągłej analizie obrazu i rejestracji nietypowych sytuacji na przejazdach kolejowych.

Content available Computer system for temperature diagnostics of cows

The objective of the paper was to draw out a functional profile of a new computer system for temperature diagnostics of cows. This device enables oestrus detection including the silent one, early pregnancy (from the 5th day of insemination), acute inflammatory conditions and subclinical mastitis in a non-invasive manner during machine milking of cows. For diagnostic purposes one type of the measurement sensor was used, which is a unique feature in comparison to diagnostic devices mass produced and available on the market. A microprocessor module of the new milking system has intelligent devices features. It is construed of modern analogue and digital subassemblies and specialised measurement interfaces. The program structure of the system enables processing of automatically registered milk temperature values during cow milking on account of requirements of cow temperature diagnostics.

Celem pracy była charakterystyka funkcjonalna nowego komputerowego sytemu diagnostyki temperaturowej krów. Urządzenie umożliwia wykrywania rui, w tym cichej, wczesnej ciąży (od 5 dnia po inseminacji), ostrych stanów zapalnych i stanów podklinicznych płatów wymion krów w sposób bezinwazyjny, w czasie doju maszynowego krów. Do celów diagnostycznych zastosowano jeden typu czujnika pomiarowego, co jest cechą unikalną w porównaniu z dostępnymi na rynku produkowanymi seryjnie urządzeniami diagnostycznymi. Moduł mikroprocesorowy nowego systemu udojowego posiada cechy urządzeń inteligentnych. Zbudowany jest z nowoczesnych podzespołów analogowych i cyfrowych oraz specjalizowanych interfejsów pomiarowych. Struktura programowa systemu umożliwia przetwarzanie rejestrowanych automatycznie w czasie dojów krów wartości temperatur mleka pod kątem wymagań diagnostyki temperaturowej krów.

Artykuł przybliża Czytelnikom nowoczesne instalacje wentylacji mechanicznej, ogrzewania i chłodzenia (HVAC). Główny jego cel wskazuje, że jedynie pełna integracja wszystkich instalacji zamontowanych w budynku w obrębie jednego, nadrzędnego systemu automatyki budynku wraz z odpowiednim doborem dostarczanych danych może zapewnić realne korzyści z zastosowanych urządzeń.

The aim of the article is to present modern mechanical ventilation, heating and cooling (HVAC) installations. We would like to indicate especially the fact that only full integration of all the systems installed in the building as a single, superior building automation system, and an appropriate data provided by this “intelligent system” is able to ensure feasible benefits of the used devices.

We deal with the problem of the multiaspect text categorization which calls for the classification of the documents with respect to two, in a sense, orthogonal sets of categories. We briefly define the problem, mainly referring to our previous work, and study the application of the k- nearest neighbours algorithm. We propose a new technique meant to enhance the effectiveness of this algorithm when applied to the problem in question. We show some experimental results confirming usefulness of the proposed approach.

The linear 3D piezoelasticity theory along with active damping control (ADC) strategy are applied for non-stationary vibroacoustic response suppression of a doubly fluid-loaded functionally graded piezolaminated (FGPM) composite hollow cylinder of infinite length under general time-varying excitations. The control gain parameters are identified and tuned using Genetic Algorithm (GA) with a multi-objective performance index that constrains the key elasto-acoustic system parameters and control voltage. The uncontrolled and controlled time response histories due to a pair of equal and opposite impulsive external point loads are calculated by means of Durbin’s numerical inverse Laplace transform algorithm. Numerical simulations demonstrate the superior (good) performance of the GA-optimized distributed active damping control system in effective attenuation of sound pressure transients radiated into the internal (external) acoustic space for two basic control configurations. Also, some interesting features of the transient fluid-structure interaction control problem are illustrated via proper 2D time domain images and animations of the 3D sound field. Limiting cases are considered and accuracy of the formulation is established with the aid of a commercial finite element package as well as comparisons with the current literature.

Interest in Intelligent Transportation Systems comes from the problems caused by traffic congestion, road accidents and air pollution. Traffic congestion continues to grow worldwide as a result of increased motorization, population growth, changes in population density and urbanization. Interest in ITS can also be attributed to reducing road accidents and increasing traffic safety. The most common causes for road accidents are excessive speed, inattentive driving and ignorance of the right-of-way rules. To eliminate these causes, experience, knowledge of traffic regulations and a new car are not enough –vehicle safety systems have to take part as well. Therefore, the European Union issued a directive on the installation of intelligent systems, whose functions are active support during driving, warning the driver in dangerous situations and alerting passengers of the car in case of irregularities in motor function or actions carried out by the driver that may cause danger, such as swerving while falling asleep. These systems help drivers to avoid accidents, and in the event of a collision, an emergency call is automatically made. Furthermore, they can be used to regulate traffic patterns or to reduce engine performance, which would reduce pollution. With these benefits in mind, the EU has indicated to the automotive industry that installation of these new Intelligent Transportation Systems should be mandatory in their new vehicles.

Zainteresowanie Inteligentnymi Systemami Transportowymi (ITS) wynika z problemów spowodowanych przeciążeniem ruchu drogowego, wypadkami drogowymi oraz zanieczyszczeniem powietrza. Przeciążenie ruchu stale wzrasta na całym świecie, jako rezultat wzrostu motoryzacyjnego, zwiększenia liczby ludności, zmiany w gęstości zaludnienia oraz urbanizacji. Zainteresowanie ITS może również być przypisane redukcji wypadków oraz zwiększenie bezpieczeństwa na drogach. Najczęstszymi powodami wypadków drogowych są nadmierna prędkość, nieuważne prowadzenie samochodu oraz ignorowanie zasad ruchu drogowego. By wyeliminować te powody, doświadczenie, wiedza o zasadach ruchu drogowego oraz nowy samochód nie są wystarczające –powinny tu również brać udział systemy bezpieczeństwa pojazdu. Dlatego też Unia Europejska ustanowiła dyrektywę o instalowaniu inteligentnych systemów, których funkcje to aktywne wspieranie podczas jazdy, ostrzeganie kierowcy o sytuacjach niebezpiecznych oraz powiadamianie pasażerów samochodu w razie nieprawidłowości w działaniu silnika lub o działaniach powodowanych przez kierowcę, które mogą powodować niebezpieczeństwo, takie jak zbaczanie z drogi w wyniku zasypiania. Systemy te pomagają kierowcom zapobiec wypadkom oraz w razie kolizji wykonują automatycznie telefon alarmowy. Co więcej, mogą być stosowane do regulowania wzorców ruchu lub redukcji osiągów silnika, co zmniejsza ilość zanieczyszczeń. Mając na uwadze te korzyści, Unia Europejska zaleciła przemysłowi motoryzacyjnemu, instalowanie Inteligentnych Systemów Transportowych w nowych pojazdach.

Artykuł prezentuje opracowaną koncepcję interaktywnych hybrydowych systemów monitorowania i optymalizacji procesów mikro- i nanoobróbki. Inteligentny system zdalnego monitorowania i optymalizacji jakości procesów, wyposażony w interfejs wizualny i głosowy, przedstawiono w przykładowym zastosowaniu w procesach precyzyjnego szlifowania. Opracowana koncepcja proponuje architekturę systemu wyposażoną w warstwę analizy danych, warstwę nadzorowania procesu, warstwę decyzyjną, podsystem komunikacji głosowej w języku naturalnym oraz podsystem komunikacji wizualnej z opisem głosowym.

The paper presents a concept of interactive hybrid systems for monitoring and optimization of micro- and nano-machining processes. The intelligent system for monitoring and optimization of the process quality, equipped with a visual and speech interface, is presented in an exemplary application to precision grinding processes. The developed concept proposes an architecture of the system equipped with a data analysis layer, a process supervision layer, a decision layer, a communication subsystem by speech and natural language, and a visual communication subsystem using vocal descriptions. In the proposed system, computational intelligence methods allow for real-time data analysis of the monitored process, configuration of the system, process supervision based on process features and quality models. The system is also capable of detection of inaccuracies, estimation of inaccuracies results, compensation of inaccuracies results, and selection of machining parameters and conditions. The paper describes the concept of voice and visual communication (Fig. 1), and the complete structure of the system (Fig. 2). The interactive system using mobile technologies is shown in Fig. 3, while the system using neural models is presented in Fig. 4. Also the block diagrams of command meaning analysis methods (Figs. 5 and 6), and the probabilistic neural networks for process assessment (Figs. 7 and 8) are shown in the paper.

The authors propose a concept for developing a system of automated monitoring and on-line diagnostics of main technological equipment conditions. Monitoring and diagnostics system should work along with the automated control system. In this case, the effects of the optimal control and operational forecasting of the process equipment will complement each other and enhance the overall efficiency of the system. The proposed technique for developing diagnostic algorithms with the use of intelligent technologies will speed up their development and improve the accuracy of forecasting.

Zaproponowano koncepcję budowy systemu automatycznej kontroli i diagnostyki operacyjnej stanu podstawowego wyposażenia technicznego. System kontroli i diagnostyki powinien działać razem z automatycznym systemem sterowania. Przy tym rezultaty optymalnego sterowania i operacyjnego prognozowania stanu technicznego będą dopełniać się wzajemnie i podwyższać całkowitą efektywność systemu. Proponowana metodyka zastosowania algorytmów diagnostyki z zastosowaniem sztucznej inteligencji znacznie przyspieszy ich opracowanie i podwyższy dokładność prognozy.

This article presents selected research on the development of complex fundamentals of building intelligent interactive systems for design of machine elements and assemblies on the basis of its features described in a natural language. We propose a new method for handwriting recognition that utilizes geometric features of letters. The article deals with recognition of isolated handwritten characters using neural networks. As a result of the geometrical analysis, graphical representations of recognized characters are obtained in the form of pattern descriptions of isolated characters. Selected parameters of the characters are inputs to the neural network for writing recognition which is font independent. In this article, we present a new method for off-line natural writing recognition and also describe our research and conclusions on the experiments.

W artykule przedstawiono wybrane prace badawcze dotyczące podstaw budowy inteligentnych systemów interakcji do projektowania elementów i zespołów maszyn na podstawie ich cech opisywanych w języku naturalnym. Zaproponowano nową metodę rozpoznawania pisma odręcznego, w której wykorzystano geometryczne cechy znaków. Artykuł dotyczy rozpoznawania izolowanych znaków pisma odręcznego za pomocą sieci neuronowych. W wyniku analizy geometrycznej otrzymuje się reprezentacje graficzne rozpoznawanych znaków w postaci opisów wzorców pojedynczych znaków. Wybrane parametry znaków stanowią wejścia sieci neuronowej do rozpoznawania pisma niezależnego od kroju. W artykule przedstawiono nową metodę rozpoznawania pisma naturalnego, a także opisano badania i podano wnioski wynikające z eksperymentów.

Artykuł prezentuje cybernetyczne podejście do zagadnienia modelowania ludzkich emocji, oparte na psychologicznych teoriach (ocennej i somatycznej). Opracowany model przeznaczony jest do integracji z Inteligentnym Systemem Decyzyjnym - IDS. Może być on używany jako silnik aplikacji lub jako system sterowania niezależnego urządzenia, np. robota autonomicznego.

The paper presents a cybernetic approach to the task of modelling human emotions based on the psychology theories (both appraisal and somatic theories are applied). The proposed system is designed for integration into an intelligent system of decision-making - IDS. It can, for instance, be used as an application engine, as well as, a control system in autonomous unit.

W artykule opisano struktury algorytmów sterowania pracą odbiorników energii elektrycznej w instalacji inteligentnej, współpracujących z innymi instalacjami technicznymi, w celu polepszenia parametrów energetycznych budynku. Do struktury instalacji włączono agregat ogniw fotowoltaicznych, współpracujących z baterią akumulatorów stacyjnych. Opracowano algorytmy działania układów programujących proces ruchu rolet ograniczających dopływ ciepła przez okna do pomieszczeń (latem) i odpływ ciepła do otoczenia (zimą) oraz doświetlania wnętrza pomieszczenia. Opisano sposoby wyposażenia obwodów instalacji odbiorczej i programowania pracy odbiorników energii elektrycznej w jednym z systemów instalacji inteligentnych, na przykładzie systemu LCN (Local Control Network).

In the paper the structures of algorithms of controlling were described with operation of receivers of the electric energy in the intelligent installation, cooperating with different technical installations, in order to upgrade the energy parameters of the building. A unit of photovoltaic cells and aggregate of station batteries were included in the structure of the electric installation. The algorithms of the operation of systems programming for the process of moving the roller-blinds were worked out for limiting the inflow of the heat through the windows into rooms (during summer) and outflow of the heat (during winter). Additionally the aspect of correction the ambient lighting in relation to the natural light from the sun was taken into the consideration. Different methods of equipping circumferences of the installation and the programming the functioning of the receivers of the electric energy were described using LCN system (Local Control Network) as an example of intelligent installation systems.
