W artykule omówiono aktualne podejście do zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem wodociągowo-kanalizacyjnym oraz bieżące trendy w zarządzaniu. Wskazano elementy, które wymagają usprawnienia na przykładzie wybranych obszarów zarządzania w dużym przedsiębiorstwie wodociągowo-kanalizacyjnym. Skupiono się na wykazaniu, które czynniki i jakie podejście mają największy wpływ na zakłócenia w trakcie zarządzania tak specyficznym przedsiębiorstwem, jakim jest przedsiębiorstwo wodociągowo-kanalizacyjne. Wskazano możliwe narzędzia i metody wspomagające najwyższe kierownictwo w procesie zarządzania.

The article describes the current approach to the management of a water supply and sewage company as well as current management trends. The elements which need improvement are indicated on the example of chosen areas in a large water supply and sewage company. The authors' focus was on demonstrating which factors and which approach have the biggest influence on disruptions in the management of such specific company as the water supply and sewage company. In this article possible tools and methods are proposed which can support the top management level in management process.

The rate of growth in terms of the changes of dynamics in logistics is due to the development in services, including physical, information and financial flows, important for the entities of numerous economic sectors. The contemporary logistics not only has to catch up with the current changes, but also, in many cases, it must get ahead of them, meeting the expectations of its clients. A constant element of the logistics activity should be both the investigation and forecasting of the changes. A growing complexity of business processes in the globalised economy, based on knowledge in the business environment with complex corporate relations, makes the managers support the decision-making processes using state-of-the-art information technology (IT) tools. An essential supporting role is fulfilled by the integrated management systems, ensuring a cohesion and control of the internal and external processes performance in the enterprise operation. The article aims at presenting the role of integrated management systems, considered as tools supporting business logistics processes. It demonstrates the specificity of the operation of a selected economic organization, which makes the management apply unitary measures. With the development of integrated systems in mind - and using the example of the case study - the solutions were demonstrated, the aim of which is to effectively support the management of purchases, supplies and maintenance within the department in the enterprise under study, especially the logistics processes. An essential element of the research is the role of innovativeness in the logistics development, including the implementation of the latest teleinformation technology solutions.

The publication focuses on issues related to the culture of safety and the culture of quality. The aim of the publication is to analyze the literature on the subject of these two concepts and to present the relationship between the culture of quality and culture of safety. The integrated system should include the culture of an integrated management system, which will include issues related to individual partial cultures, for example the cultures of quality and safety presented in this publication. This concept includes all elements of the culture of quality and culture of occupational safety. This opens up new, interesting research fields, consistent with contemporary trends in both theory and practice of management sciences. Considering the practical dimension of management sciences, it is difficult to consider separately the "culture" of individual subsystems, where in most enterprises, especially industrial ones, these systems do not appear separately and are implemented in the form of an integrated system.

After a decade-long evolution, the use of coal for energy production is growing again. Carbon is still an important source of energy in Europe, covering about one-fourth of electricity production. There are plans to open around 50 new coal-fired power plants. But the continued use of coal has a price, we pay all, mainly with our health can be affected by excessive environmental pollution Today more and more emphasis on the concept of „green economy” that should be reflected in improving people’s lives through effective management of environmental issues and reducing environmental risks Thus, through the present paper we aim to highlight those aspects that would allow the improvement of the environmental performance of coal-fired power plants in Romania by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Environmental Management System (EMS) as a component of the Integrated Management System along with the Quality, Health and Safety Management System . We start from the premise that the development and implementation of an effective and efficient environmental management system (EMS) becomes a priority for all companies in the field , especially since their activities based on coal burning , are considered among the most polluting.

Po trwającej lata ewolucji wykorzystanie węgla do produkcji energii ponownie rośnie. Węgiel jest nadal ważnym źródłem energii w Europie, pokrywając około jednej czwartej produkcji energii elektrycznej. Istnieją plany otwarcia około 50 nowych elektrowni węglowych. Ale energetyczne wykorzystanie węgla ma swoją cenę, płacimy głównie naszym zdrowiem wskutek nadmiernego za- nieczyszczenia środowiska. Obecnie coraz większy nacisk kładzie się na koncepcję „zielonej gospodarki”, która powinna znaleźć odzwierciedlenie w poprawie życia ludzi poprzez skuteczne zarządzanie środowiskowe i zmniejszanie zagrożeń środowiskowych. W artykule przedstawiono aspektów, które mogą pozwolić na poprawę efektywności środowiskowej elektrowni węglowych w Rumunii poprzez poprawę wydajności i skuteczności Systemu Zarządzania Środowiskowego (EMS) jako elementu Zintegrowanego Systemu Zarządzania wraz z Systemem Zarządzania Jakością i Bezpieczeństwem. Przyjęto założenie, że opracowanie i wdrożenie skutecznego i wydajnego systemu zarządzania środowiskiem (EMS) staje się priorytetem dla wszystkich firm w tej dziedzinie, zwłaszcza że ich działalność oparta na spalaniu węgla jest uważana za najbardziej zanieczyszczającą środowisko.

Integrated management systems are increasingly used in modern enterprises. They allow for a more comprehensive approach to a number of important issues, affecting the modification of activities and process improvement. However, the integration itself often does not provide the right effects (apart from economic ones) without leading to real, multifaceted coupling of activities between the components of the system. To obtain such effects, it is necessary to connect the components in one system. Knowledge management can be a helpful element in this activity. Each component of the integrated management systems generates a large number of data and information. Their use is possible only by building on their basis knowledge leading to improvement of activities or innovation. The use of knowledge, especially hidden knowledge that contains unique and inaccessible knowledge for competitors, should be a priority for today's enterprises. The study presents considerations regarding the possibility of including knowledge management in integrated management systems, treating knowledge as a basic element connecting the system.

W pracy przedstawiono teorię EPC (Enterprise Process Control) jako opis nowego modelu ontologicznego zintegrowanych systemów zarządzania i sterowania bezpośredniego. Pokazano, że model ten, oparty na modelu informacyjnodecyzyjnym procesów biznesowych, można uważać za modyfikację i rozszerzenie znanej ontologii przedsiębiorstw opartej na teorii PSI (Performance in Social Interaction), leżącej u podstaw metodologii DEMO (Design and Engineering Methodology for Organizations).

The paper presents the EPC theory (Enterprise Process Control) as a description of a new ontological model of integrated management and direct control systems. It was shown that this model, based on the information-decision model of business processes, may be regarded as a result of modification and extension of the well-known enterprise ontology based on the PSI theory (Performance in Social Interaction), which underlies the DEMO (Design and Engineering Methodology for Organizations).

The 1 to 1 relationships of charts of accounts, accounting journals and tables of accounting records with corresponding tables of accounts, business transactions and transactional records in the framework EPC II system have been presented in the paper. These tables are the main information kinds, that is tables in which one can write down all information needed for management and business process control in any enterprise, or they are composed of them. In this way it has been shown that the Theory of Enterprise Process Control is compatible with generally accepted accounting principles. This analysis is an example of demonstrating conformity of the EPC II theory with real management and process control systems. The main information kinds with their key attributes were taken from the complete list of them, which is included in the paper. What is more, the tight relationships between resource flow in business processes and turnover on the accounts of the framework EPC II system have been discussed. Owing to these relationships one can determine the impact of any decision variable on the accounting records in a given enterprise.

In the paper the basic concepts of the theory of Enterprise Process Control (EPC II), as well as its most important results and directions of future work, have been discussed. It has been shown that in the synthetic picture of EPC II data structure every structural attribute of information elements may be assigned to one of the three general dimensions: knowledge on kinds of processes and resources, enterprise organization and labels of executions of definite business processes. Differences in concepts of business processes, resources and organizational units between the EPC II theory and the current standards have been pointed out. It has been demonstrated that the framework functional structure of integrated management systems is the same for every organizational level. The notions of business transactions have been introduced and then relationships between functional activities and business transactions have been described. Next, the relationships of bookkeeping accounts, entries and transactions with corresponding notions of the EPC II theory have been discussed. It has been shown how the EPC II theory may be applied to solving certain difficult problems of business process control, including the problem of building a universal framework system of management and process control and the problem of automatic adaptation of management systems software to structural changes of business processes.

The framework Enterprise Process Control system is a system with a relational database. Those of its tables which are not subclasses of other tables have been named "administrative information kinds". Their rows and their key attributes are called "information elements" and "structural attributes". The list of all structural attributes, as well as the list of all administrative information kinds together with their key attributes, have been presented in the paper. According to the thesis of universality of the framework EPC II system for each table of each real integrated management system there is a specialization relationship with one of information kinds belonging to this list or with a table of natural join of certain information kinds or with a projection of such a join on its selected columns. Therefore the number 25 of all structural attributes and the number 140 of all administrative information kinds seem to be relatively small. The list of information kinds has been discussed in parts corresponding to structural knowledge of enterprise resources and processes, to information places which are sets of information elements, to the structure of business process control systems, to batches and specimens of resources, to transitions, transactions and state of EPC II systems, to periodic plans and reports of enterprise activities and, finally, to orders of these activities.

The need of being competitive and will to meet clients' needs makes organizations form mining branch improve their actions. There is a wide variety of system-like solutions for such organizations, such as: quality management system, environment management system, and security and safety management system and social responsibility system. The tendency of implementing and connecting some of the above mentioned solutions has resulted in the integrated management systems. An organization which is prepared in such a way often decides for the next step which allows for self-improving even more efficiently, which in turn results in a quicker reaction to clients' needs- the implementation of process-like attitude. The process-like attitude allows to identify weak elements of organization as well as help to improve them and identify those which should be included in an organization.

Potrzeba konkurencyjności i chęć sprostania oczekiwaniom klienta wymusza na organizacjach branży wydobywczej doskonalenie działania. Wsparcie działalności zapewniają różnorakie rozwiązania systemowe w dziedzinie zarządzania: system zarządzania jakością, system zarządzania środowiskiem, system zarządzania bezpieczeństwem i higiena pracy oraz system dotyczący odpowiedzialności społecznej. Tendencja wdrażania kilku wymienionych rozwiązań i łączenie ich w jednej organizacji spowodowało powstanie zintegrowanych systemów zarządzania. Tak przygotowane organizacje decydują się często na kolejny krok, umożliwiający o wiele skuteczniejsze samodoskonalenie się, a w efekcie szybsze reagowanie na potrzeby klienta. Tym rozwiązaniem jest wdrożenie podejścia procesowego. Pozwala ono wychwytywać słabe elementy działania organizacji, by je usprawnić oraz identyfikować te, które powinny zostać włączone w działanie organizacji.

Various management function-specific systems, such as for quality, environment, and occupational health and safety are described in widely applied international standards and guidelines. These documents are of obvious benefit to practising management. The implementation of a robust and effective integrated management system will support the achievement of high levels of safety performance and the enhancement and improvement of the safety culture in all types of industry. This paper has two main objectives. The first one is to address the key issues in theory and practice of integrated management systems, the second one is to illustrate the importance of an integrated (in particular safety) management system with examples from different organisations in the nuclear field.

The article presents requirements that are put before coke producers by the European Union and local authorities especially in the field of environment-friendly actions. This document shows sale directions of the Plant and advantages which make Coke Plant Przyjaźń the biggest exporter of coke in Poland. The article also emphasizes the significance of building new coke battery and modernization of the remaining facilities and installations in order to keep the operational uptime fully.
