Presented is the use of devices and trainer devices that are the original applications of Zakład Automatyki i Urządzeń Pomiarowych AREX Sp. z o.o. a part of the WB Group. This application also uses the characteristics of devices with the efficiency of modernization works understood as benefits resulting from the expenditure incurred. Special attention was paid to modernization resulting from the reliability of the improved system and its readiness to perform tasks. The article is not a presentation of the commercial offer but covers the scope of research and development works, implemented original modernization, developed in response to market expectations, user comments and technical progress. The potential of the WB Group and the current state of knowledge and application possibilities provided by AREX Sp. z o.o. is in meeting the requirements of the modern battlefield. The process should be conducted in the national defence sector (in the domestic industrial defence potential). This industry should have additional new technologies of modernization.

W procesie tym uwzględniono również charakterystykę związaną z efektywnością prac modernizacyjnych rozumianych jako uzyskiwanie korzyści w odniesieniu do ponoszonych nakładów. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono modernizacji wynikającej z funkcji niezawodności doskonalonego systemu i jego gotowości do wykonywania zadań. Artykuł nie jest przedstawieniem oferty handlowej, ale zakresu prac badawczo-rozwojowych i wdrożonych rozwiązań modernizacyjnych, opracowanych w odpowiedzi na oczekiwania rynku, uwagi użytkowników oraz postęp techniczny. Potencjał Grupy WB oraz stan wiedzy i możliwości wskazują, że w dziedzinie uzbrojenia AREX Sp. z o.o. jest w stanie spełnić wymagania stawiane przez współczesne pole walki. For two decades, AREX Sp. z o.o. (Gdynia, Poland), belonging to WB Group (Warsaw, Poland), has been dealing with special-purpose production, in particular mechatronics, and its solutions are used in electromechanical accessories for 155 mm KRAB gun-howitzers and 120 mm RAK self-propelled wheeled gun-mortars. The operations of WB Group on international markets has given a boost to its further development. The solutions of the remotely controlled weapon platform presented in this paper can be adapted to weapons with ammunition fed from the left or right side, owing to the self-diagnostics and verification system as well as the modular design. The intention of the designers was to create functional and intuitive equipment that allows the operator to focus on firing operations. The remotely controlled weapon platform is also equipped with covering capacity, such as smoke grenades, and is also electrically operated, can be operated manually in emergencies, is intended for installation on various combat vehicles and is remotely controlled by the operator remaining inside the vehicle compartment, which ensures full armoured protection against enemy direct fire. Remote control is based on two operating components - a fire control unit and a control grip. Additionally the system is capable of remote weapon loading, weapon cocking, and firing. Tracking and remote controlling capabilities of the integrated weapon platform ensure high probability of hitting stationary and moving targets during the first round, and the platform can be operated manually as required.

Zakład Automatyki i Urządzeń Pomiarowych AREX Sp. z o.o. wchodzący w skład Grupy WB od dwóch dekad zajmuje się produkcją specjalną, głównie mechatroniką, a rozwiązania znajdują się w osprzęcie elektromechanicznym 155 mm armato-haubic KRAB, 120 mm samobieżnych moździerzy RAK czy wieży ZSSW-30. Operowanie na światowych rynkach dało impuls do dalszego rozwoju Grupy WB. Przedstawione w artykule rozwiązania zdalnie sterowanej platformy uzbrojenia dzięki systemowi autodiagnostyki i weryfikacji oraz modułowości umożliwiają szybką wymianę niesprawnego lub uszkodzonego sprzętu, co znacznie ułatwia obsługę tej broni. Intencją projektantów było stworzenie funkcjonalnego, intuicyjnego sprzętu, który pozwala operatorowi skupić się na zadaniu. Dzięki modułowej budowie może być przystosowany do uzbrojenia zasilanego amunicją z prawej lub lewej strony. Zdalnie zintegrowana platforma uzbrojenia jest również wyposażona w środki osłonowe, takie jak granaty dymne, i jest zasilana elektrycznie, ale może być również obsługiwana ręcznie w sytuacji awaryjnej i jest przeznaczona do montażu na różnych pojazdach bojowych i jest zdalnie obsługiwany przez operatora znajdującego się wewnątrz przedziału pojazdu, co zapewnia całkowitą ochronę pancerną przed bezpośrednim ogniem wroga. Zdalna obsługa jest realizowana przez dwa elementy operacyjne, – jednostkę kierowania ogniem - uchwyt kontrolny. System posiada również możliwość zdalnego ładowania broni do napinania broni oraz strzelania. Możliwości śledzenia i kontroli zdalnej zintegrowanej platformy uzbrojenia zapewniają wysokie prawdopodobieństwo trafienia w pierwszej serii przeciwko nieruchomym i ruchomym celom, a razie potrzeby można również obsługiwać ręcznie.

The stabilized remote weapons module is equipped with a fire control system for light and medium caliber weapons and can be installed on wheeled and tracked combat vehicles and tactical vehicles. The stabilized remote weapons module presented in the article is one of the proposals of Zakład Automatyki i Urządzeń Pomiarowych AREX Sp. z o.o., a member of the WB Group. AREX Sp. z o.o. deals with, among others, special production, mainly mechatronics, and its solutions are used in the electromechanical equipment of 155-mm Krab gun-howitzers and 120-mm RAK self-propelled mortars. Operating on global markets gave an impetus to the further development of the WB Group. The remote weapons module allows you to remotely load your weapon for cocking and firing. The integrated weapons platform’s remote tracking and control capabilities provide a high first-strike probability against stationary and moving targets, and can also be operated manually if necessary. The intention of the designers from AREX Sp. z o. o. was to create functional, intuitive equipment that allows the operator to focus on the task. The purpose of the publication, however, is not to present a commercial offer, but the scope of research and development works and implemented solutions, developed in response to market expectations and technical progress. The potential of the WB Group and the current state of knowledge and capabilities indicate that AREX can meet the requirements of the modern battlefield in the field of on-board weapons.

Przedstawiony w artykule stabilizowany zdalny moduł uzbrojenia jest jedną z propozycji Zakładu Automatyki i Urządzeń Pomiarowych AREX Sp. z o.o., który wchodzi w skład Grupy WB. W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe kierunki kształtowania osiedli mieszkaniowych w Polsce w ujęciu historycznym. Zwrócono uwagę na pozytywne aspekty osiedli budynków wielkopłytowych, wskazując również ich wady w zakresie estetyki i funkcjonalności. We współczesnym budownictwie dostrzeżono rozbieżności między interesami inwestorów i oczekiwaniami użytkowników osiedli, w skrajnych przypadkach prowadzące do irracjonalnych praktyk kształtowania elementów osiedli mieszkaniowych (zjawisko patodeweloperki), pozornie jednak w poszanowaniu przepisów prawnych.

The article presents the basic directions of shaping housing estates in Poland from a historical perspective. The attention was paid to the positive aspects of large-panel housing estates, also pointing to their disadvantages in terms of aesthetics and functionality. In contemporary construction, discrepancies between the interests of investors and the expectations of housing estate users have been noticed, in extreme cases leading to irrational practices of shaping the elements of housing estates (the phenomenon of pato-developer), but apparently in compliance with legal regulations.

Housing blocks constructed from prefabricated elements have been the backbone of housing resources in many Polish cities in the last fifty years. Over the time, the residents’ expectations regarding the residential amenity standards, as well as demographic structure of the estates built in the communist era have changed. Therefore, the current residents’ needs significantly differ from the needs and expectations of those who took over the newly built flats in the last quarter of the 20th century. Fundamentally, the functional and spatial standards of flats built before 1989 are already out of date. The proper functioning of the usable dwelling space of these apartments has gained additional importance due to the inhabitants getting progressively older and, especially recently, the prolonged SARS CoV-2 pandemic. The introduction of the lockdown, which involved strict restrictions on movement outside the place of residence during the pandemic, made the apartments the centre of life and a place of work for many families. Suddenly, for psychophysical reasons, the importance of having larger floor space, than the functional solutions typically used in the 1970s and 1980s offered, has increased. It appears that the residents begun to take interest in all possible solutions to improve the functionality of their homes. The aim of the article is to present proposals for contemporary architectural solutions that can improve the functionality of these apartments that would increase residents’ standard of living and everyday comfort.

The article justifies the necessity to develop a system-linked texture layer with the load-bearing layer of threelayer walls and a functional system modernization in the existing large-panel buildings. These solutions were defined as technically and economically rational. The subject analysis was carried out in relation to the „Report on the technical condition of large-panel construction” prepared by the Building Research Institute in Warsaw.

The situation in higher education at the end of the first quarter of 2020 was both a surprise and a challenge for the University students, teachers and authorities. No one nowadays questions the advantages of e-learning, but the awareness of existing limitations may contribute to better implementation of e-learning and finally lead to higher effectiveness. Every new technological solution, especially when implemented quickly and without any preparation, raises many technological and social problems. The aim of the research was to determine a change in the level of acceptance of e-learning at the University level, in the period 2020-2021. The conducted surveys on representative samples of students and teachers has confirmed a more open attitude of students towards e-learning, compared to the group of teachers. In students’ opinion, e-learning in particular saves time, enables flexible classes schedules and improves communication with teachers. Unfortunately, teachers were not as optimistic as students.

Sytuacja w szkolnictwie wyższym na koniec I kwartału 2020 r. była zarówno zaskoczeniem, jak i wyzwaniem dla studentów, nauczycieli i władz Uczelni. Nikt w dzisiejszych czasach nie kwestionuje zalet e-learningu, ale świadomość istniejących ograniczeń może przyczynić się do lepszego wdrażania e-learningu i ostatecznie doprowadzić do większej efektywności. Każde nowe rozwiązanie technologiczne, zwłaszcza gdy jest wdrażane szybko i bez żadnego przygotowania, rodzi wiele problemów technologicznych i społecznych. Celem badań było określenie zmiany poziomu akceptacji e-learningu na poziomie Uczelni w latach 2020-2021. Przeprowadzone badania na reprezentatywnych próbach studentów i nauczycieli potwierdziły bardziej otwarty stosunek studentów do e-learningu w porównaniu z grupą nauczycieli. W opinii studentów e-learning w szczególności oszczędza czas, umożliwia elastyczne planowanie zajęć i usprawnia komunikację z nauczycielami. Niestety nauczyciele nie byli tak optymistyczni jak studenci.

W pracy zaprezentowano, na przykładzie dużego elementu obciążanego cieplnie, w jakim stopniu wybrane kryteria konstrukcyjne prowadzą do spełnienia stawianych mu wymagań. W szczególność pokazany został wpływ obciążenia cieplnego na trwałość, funkcjonalność i koszty eksploatacji dwóch różnych konstrukcji spełniających funkcję pokrywy kadzi pośredniej w linii ciągłego odlewania stali. Omówiono przede wszystkim wpływ konstrukcji oraz zastosowanych materiałów na trwałość płyty pod-wlewnicowej poddawanej bardzo dużym obciążeniom zarówno cieplnym, jak i mechanicznym. Przytoczone różnice uzasadniają przyjęcie do eksploatacji konstrukcji przestrzennej zabezpieczonej odpowiednią izolacją termiczną i ogniotrwałą.

Based on the example of a large thermally loaded component, the study has focused on the problem to what extent the selected design criteria can help meet the requirements set for this component. In particular, the effect of thermal load on the durability, functionality and operating costs of two different designs of the component serving as a tundish cover in a continuous steel casting line is shown. First of all, the impact of the design and type of material on the durability of the plate which should withstand the effect of very high loads, both thermal and mechanical, is discussed. The differences in design justify the use of a spatial structure protected with appropriate thermal and refractory insulation.

W artykule omówiono genezę powstania osiedli w technologiach uprzemysłowionych, zwrócono uwagę na rolę osiedli mieszkaniowych oraz na przyczyny ich złej opinii w społeczeństwie. Porównano je także z osiedlami nowo wznoszonymi, estetyką budynków i funkcjonalnością mieszkań. W podsumowaniu stwierdzono, że osiedla budynków wielkopłytowych z powodzeniem będą funkcjonować jeszcze przez wiele lat.

They were also compared with newly built housing estates, the aesthetics of buildings and the functionality of flats. The article aims to present the assumptions and a part of the chamber study results conducted on the Księże Małe estate in Wrocław. The starting point for the research was the observation that the pre-war German housing estates were planned in a functional way, with great care for the surroundings of the buildings, as well as with the use of solutions that would now be defined as elements of blue or green infrastructure. Thus, the pre-war spatial arrangement manner is in line with the contemporary postulates of sustainable development and "healthy" cities. However, the functions of green areas and their elements have degraded over time and nowadays it is often possible to read the former planning concept only by means of comparative cartographic studies. The results of the preliminary research confirm that the subsequent housing development transformations were of a degrading nature, and the pre-war character of the building surroundings is illegible for residents and readable in archival materials that have not been elaborated so far. Recalling the memory of the former arrangement method may contribute to project activities in the area of urban adaptation to climate change, and past practices, a model for shaping contemporary urban plans.

Artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie założeń i części wyników badań kameralnych prowadzonych dla osiedla Księże Małe we Wrocławiu. Punktem wyjścia do rozpoczęcia badań było spostrzeżenie, że przedwojenne osiedla niemieckie zostały zaplanowane w sposób funkcjonalny, z dużą dbałością o otoczenie budynków, a także z zastosowaniem rozwiązań, które obecnie określono by jako elementy błękitnej czy zielonej infrastruktury. Tym samym przedwojenny sposób zagospodarowania wpisuje się we współczesne postulaty zrównoważonego rozwoju i „zdrowych” miast. Funkcje terenów zieleni oraz ich elementów uległy jednak z czasem degradacji i obecnie odczytanie dawnego zamysłu planistycznego możliwe jest często jedynie za pomocą kartograficznych badań porównawczych. Wyniki wstępnych badań potwierdzają, że kolejne przekształcenia sposobu zagospodarowania osiedli miały charakter degradujący, a przedwojenny charakter otoczenia budynków jest nieczytelny dla mieszkańców i możliwy do odczytania w archiwalnych materiałach, które do tej pory nie były opracowane. Przywrócenie pamięci o dawnym sposobie zagospodarowania może być przyczynkiem do działań projektowych w nurcie adaptacji miast do zmian klimatu, a dawne praktyki – wzorcem dla kształtowania współczesnych zamierzeń urbanistycznych.

A crucial element of the state security policy is to have at disposal properly prepared anti-crisis systems. Ways in which individual entities of the anti-crisis system, such as the Police, will be prepared to combat existing threats and how effectively they will perform the assigned tasks in difficult situations depend on numerous factors, including skills, knowledge and quality of people working there. The research results presented by the author and some examples of practical solutions prove that in the scope of improving the current methods within individual formations, services and institutions it is possible to develop better, more effective models and procedures that are successfully used in many countries, and their effectiveness translates directly into the safety of both the conducted activities and the participants of these events themselves.

Modern livestock buildings should ensure the appropriate environmental conditions. The following factors, affecting the environmental conditions were discussed: functionality of the buildings, microclimate of the premises, management technology, housing system and livestock building. The solutions of Wolf System, and in particular, the suggestions of free-stall, boxed littered and non-littered cattle barns and littered barns with the self-flowing bed system were presented. In the buildings with the mentioned solutions, there is a correct microclimate owing to the manually or automatically operated ventilation systems.

An analysis of the functionality of selected websites presenting data on air traffic

The subject of the article is the assessment and comparison of the functionality of websites presenting flight data and the current location of aircraft on the map. The following websites were assessed: Flightradar24 (flightradar24.com), RadarBox24 (radarbox24.com), Flightaware (flightaware.com) and Plane-finder (planefinder.com). The credibility of the presented data and the range of functions available on the websites were analyzed in detail. A number of functions included in data sets were compared to the examined websites. Additionally, the possibilities of expanding the analyzed websites and extending the scope of their functions were determined. The issue of using data from air traffic data websites for scientific research was also examined.

Influence of the chemical structure of rapeseed oil-based polyols on selected properties of polyurethane foams

In this work, we report on obtaining rigid polyurethane foams with biopolyols based on rapeseed oil. The biopolyols with different functionality were synthesized in a two-stage reaction of oil epoxidation and oxirane ring opening with 1-hexanol (P_1Hex) and 1,6-hexanediol (P_1.6Hex) and their properties were characterized (Table 2, Figs. 1–3). Next, they were used to replace petrochemical polyols in foams by up to 60% by mass (Table 1). The introduction of the biopolyols into the polyurethane systems affected their reactivity (Fig. 4). The replacement of the petrochemical polyols with the biopolyols caused changes in the cell structure (Tables 3, 4) and the physical and mechanical properties of the resultant materials (Table 5).

Sztywne pianki poliuretanowe otrzymano z udziałem biopolioli z oleju rzepakowego. Biopoliole o różnej funkcyjności zsyntetyzowano w dwuetapowej reakcji epoksydacji oleju i otwarcia pierścieni oksiranowych za pomocą 1-heksanolu (P_1Hex) i 1,6-heksanodiolu (P_1.6Hex), a następnie je scharakteryzowano (tabela 2, rys. 1–3). Piankę referencyjną modyfikowano w wyniku zastąpienia poliolu petrochemicznego biopoliolami w ilości do 60% mas. (tabela 1). Wprowadzenie biopolioli do systemów poliuretanowych wpłynęło na zmniejszenie ich reaktywności (rys. 4). Zastąpienie poliolu petrochemicznego biopoliolami spowodowało zmiany struktury komórkowej (tabele 3 i 4) i właściwości fizyko-mechanicznych otrzymanych materiałów (tabela 5).

The article presents a mathematical model of the life cycle estimation method of road safety equipment. Then the model was adjusted to estimate the life cycle costs of the chosen horizontal road marking. Using the LCC method, the functionality of the horizontal marking was evaluated in terms of efficiency, durability and economic effectiveness. The article also presents the impact of selected factors on the life cycle costs of the horizontal road marking.

W artykule zaprezentowano matematyczny model metody szacowania kosztów cyklu życia drogowych środków brd. Następnie model ten został dostosowany do oszacowania kosztów cyklu życia wybranego oznakowania poziomego. Za pomocą metody LCC oceniono funkcjonalność oznakowania poziomego pod względem wydajności trwałości i efektywności ekonomicznej. W pracy przedstawiono również wpływ wybranych czynników na całkowite koszty cyklu życia oznakowania poziomego.

Celem przeprowadzenia prezentowanych w artykule badań była ocena wpływu wieku i płci na cechy funkcjonalności powiązane z precyzją i szybkością wykonywania zadań. Badaniami objęto dwie 120-osobowe grupy: młodszą w wieku 20-30 i starszą w przedziale 55-67 lat. Mierzono zmienne opisujące jakość wykonywania czynności precyzyjnych, koordynacji wzrokowo-ruchowej oko-ręka-noga oraz koordynacji wzrokowo-ruchowej w teście krzyżowym. W zmiennych wszystkich testów zanotowano zróżnicowanie wartości zarówno ze względu na wiek, jak i płeć osób badanych. Najmniejsze różnice między kobietami a mężczyznami występują w wartościach zmiennych testu koordynacji oko-ręka-noga. Wyniki wyraźnie wskazują, iż wykonywanie zadań wymagających precyzji i szybkości działania uwarunkowane jest wiekiem, a w przypadku niektórych zmiennych także i płcią.

The purpose of the research presented in this article was to assess the impact of age and gender on functional features associated with precision and speed of task performance. The study involved two 120-person groups: the younger aged 20-30 and the older aged 55-67 years old. Variables describing the quality of precise actions, eye-hand-eye coordination and eye-hand coordination in the cross-test were measured. In the variables of all tests, the values varied according to the age and gender of the subjects. The smallest differences between men and women occur in the variables of the eye-hand-leg coordination test. The results clearly show that the performance of tasks requiring precision and speed of action is conditioned by age, and in the case of some variables also by gender.

Inteligentne powłoki to powłoki przyszłości, ale wiele z nich już od lat znajduje się na rynku, np. powłoki łatwe do czyszczenia, antybakteryjne czy przeciwporostowe. Wprawdzie rynek powłok funkcjonalnych to jeszcze rynek niszowy, ale intensywnie rozwijający się, ze względu na wymagania użytkowników dotyczące wyrobów o coraz lepszych i bardziej różnorodnych właściwościach.

Smart coatings are structured coating systems that provide an optimum response to some external stimulus. They react in a selective way to outside conditions, such as temperature, stress, strain or the environment. Smart coatings are the coatings of the future, but a lot of them have been already on the market from many years, for example easy-to-clean, antimicrobial or anti-fouling coatings. Smart functional coatings represent a niche market, but this market will become increasingly important because of the demands of users concerning products with better and more diverse properties.
