A search was conducted for a collection of fossils found in the Pepper Mountains, in 1891, by G. Gürich (Geologisches Institut, Breslau). It was found that such a collection did exist and was probably destroyed at the end of World War II. Among other finds at the resources of the University of Wrocław was a collection of Cambrian trilobites from the Holy Cross Mts. (central Poland) with original metrics, sent in 1932 by J. Czarnocki. Parts of other pre-war collections of Cambrian trilobites from the Barrandian area and Lusatia were also found.

The geological field trip of the Student Science Association of Geologists at the University of Wroclaw took place in September of 2018. The main goal of a 17-day and a 2850 km long trip around Iceland was to study the field geology and to gain the knowledge on active extensional tectonics, volcanism and magmatic processes in a complex geotectonic setting of the Atlatnic Mid-ocean Ridge combined with the mantle plume, as exemplified by Iceland. The group visited several dozen spectacular geosites in the active volcanic systems of Askja, Hekla, Krafla, Laki, Torfajökull, few geothermal fields across the country along with many sites of general geological and touristic interest, like waterfalls, fiords, glacial lagoons and others. This fascinating field study tour greatly deepened the geological experience of participants, highlighting the diversity and complexity of natural tectonic and volcanic phenomena.

Mineralogical Museum in Wrocław was founded in 1811 by Karl von Raumer who became the first principal of the institution. Before 1945, a collection of several specimens increased to 13,470. Unfortunately, part of the collections along with inventory books were destroyed during World War II and many specimens were lost forever. The object of my research is both the history of the MM and oldest part of the collection, gathered between 1811 and 1855.Currently, there are about 400 minerals collected during that period. Most of them came from European countries and were donated by museum directors and famous collectors. They deserve attention because all the specimens were collected before the creation of the IMA (International Mineralogical Association) and they include very rare minerals.

In this article the most important results and conclusions from two surveys are presented. The first one is an internal survey conducted among the students of the University of Wroclaw. The second one is a survey conducted among students of final grades of high schools located in Wroclaw. Both surveys were conducted in the years 2007-2009 on the territory of Wroclaw. Taking into consideration the purposes of this work, we will focus just on the most significant results and conclusions from the conducted surveys. Full set of data is available in a book discussing the results of a survey on self-presentation and the image of non-public higher education institutions (Grech 2010) and in an article discussing the methodology and detailed results of a survey of the image of University of Wroclaw (Grech 2011). The first of the presented surveys was carried out by a group of employees and students of the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication of the University of Wroclaw, the author of this article belonged to. The second survey was the effect of a greater own project. Due to the lack of comparable surveys concerning Polish universities, the survey which is presented in a limited extent in this article is pioneering in character and before reference data for other universities are obtained, it gives a foundation for drawing conclusions about the image of universities in Poland. The obtained results highlight expectations, open and hidden factors determining the choice of a university, praised and negatively assessed elements of a university's image, ideas about other Polish universities, reconstruction of the image of perfect university. The analysis of the collected data shows a few dimensions through which a university is regarded and through which the decision whether to choose this or that university is made. These dimensions are systemic and hierarchical and - depending on the situation other criteria are regarded as important.

The stones inside the Aula Leopoldina occur mainly as floor flags. The panels are Ordovician limestones from Oland island, and Sławniowice marbles. In the portals of the emporium are Cretaceous sandstones from the Intra-Sudetic Depression and the North-Sudetic Depression. The threshold of the hall entrance has been made of granite, probably from the Arnsdorf quarry in Germany.
