The company usually is seen as a set of different types of processes. It is connected with sequence of actions, which allow to transform input data into output. Accurate diagnosis process helps to identify the main issues: how the organization works, what are the areas of the powers and responsibilities of employees, whether the processes are effective, which areas should be improved. Process approach defines the goals and measures of individual processes, and optimize the flow and structure. A key advantage of describe processes is the ability to substantiate the assumptions for the construction of IT systems, which directly affect the automation of processes. In the article was describe a BPMN standard which support modeling of the business processes in a company.

W artykule przedstawiono kwestie bezpieczeństwa żywności i wybrane problemy, z którymi można się spotkać w procesach związanych z transportem tych produktów. W artykule opisano aspekt identyfikowalności produktów żywnościowych transportowanych w łańcuchu dostaw. W szczególności scharakteryzowano problemy zdefiniowane w obszarze przyjęć do centrum dystrybucyjnego (CD) sieci handlowej i wydawania towarów z CD do sklepów. Identyfikowalność to zdolność śledzenia (odtworzenia historii) przepływu dóbr w łańcuchach dostaw wraz z rejestracją parametrów identyfikujących te dobra oraz wszystkie lokalizacje objęte tym przepływem.

This article presents the issue of food safety from the perspective of selected problems that can be encountered in the transport processes of these products. The article focuses mainly on the traceability aspects of food products transported in the supply chain. In particular, the problems identified in the reception area to the distribution center and warehouse releases are described. Traceability is the ability to track (trace) the flow of goods in supply chains, including the registration of parameters identifying those goods and all locations covered by the flow.

Depending on the process behavior, available know-how and organizational goals, different techniques and tools can be used for business process modeling. We concentrate on e-commerce, and try to find the best marketing strategy for the sales process improvement. In the paper we present the multilayer approach to define enterprise scenarios. This allows us to collect the suitable knowledge necessary for enterprise analysis and improvement. Moreover, we use BPMN notation to formalize this approach and show its capability for the concrete example of an e-shop.

Istotą identyfikowalności jest możliwość monitorowania ruchu i pochodzenia danego produktu (partii produkcyjnej) na każdym etapie łańcucha dostaw, czyli możliwość uzyskania danych z poprzedniego etapu łańcucha (od kogo i co otrzymano?) i jednocześnie dostarczenia informacji do następnego etapu (do kogo i co wysłano?). W artykule opisano, w jaki sposób firma sektora żywnościowego może zarządzać procesem identyfikowalności w kontekście magazynu wyrobów gotowych.

The essence of traceability is the possibility to monitor each product (and lot number) on every stage of a supply chain. In other words, this is the possibility of gathering data from previous stage of chain (from whom and what was received?) and delivering the gathered information to the next stage in a simultaneous way (to whom and what was sent?). The article describes how a company from the food sector can manage the traceability process in the context of the finished goods’ warehouse.

Złożoność BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) jest powodem trudności w poprawnym stosowaniu notacji. celem artykułu jest identyfikacja najważniejszych problemów, jakie sprawia wykorzystanie BPMN w różnych aspektach zarządzania procesami. Autor dokonał przeglądu publikacji związanych z zarządzaniem procesowym, ale niezwiązanych bezpośrednio z analizą systemów informacyjnych, w których wykorzystano do ilustracji BPMN. na tej podstawie zidentyfikowano najczęściej występujące błędy syntaktyczne w modelowaniu za pomocą BPMN i oceniono skalę tego zjawiska. Analiza wykazała, że największe trudności sprawia poprawne zastosowanie przepływów komunikatów oraz zdarzeń typu komunikat, a także rozróżnienie uczestników i wykonawców oraz ich poprawne reprezentowanie na diagramach w postaci basenów i torów.

The complexity of BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) is the cause of difficulties in the correct use of the notation. This article aims to identify the most important problems of BPMN usage in various aspects of process management. The author conducted a review of articles illustrated with BPMN diagrams and related to process management, but not directly related to the analysis of information systems. On that basis, the most common syntactic errors in BPMN modeling were identified and the scale of that phenomenon was assessed. The analysis showed that the greatest difficulties were associated with the correct application of message flows, message events, as well as with the distinction of participants and actors, and their proper representation in the diagrams in the form of pools and lanes.
