The aim of the study was to determine the size of agritouristic accommodation base as well as its utilization in agritouristic farms located in communities with lands belonging to Białowieża National Park and Biebrza National Park. The study was conducted in 2010 and 2011 in 52 agritouristic farms (27 farms – Białowieża National Park, 25 farms – Biebrza National Park). The source data were collected via direct interview technique. The questionnaire form sent to the farms owners was used as the research tool. The data obtained in the study allow us to conclude that the accommodation base utilization indicator in analyzed farms was highly differentiated and was in communities of Białowieża National Park in the range between 1,64%-27,40%, and in communities of Biebrza National Park between - 0,68%-40,55%. The average value of this indicator in both analyzed regions was similar and amounted to 8,1% in Białowieża National Park, 8,9% in Biebrza National Park. The real participation of accommodation places in analyzed market – „market penetration” – in more than a half of farms was negative. The percentage of farms with negative value of this indicator was the same in both analyzed regions and amounted to 56%.

The aim of the study was to investigate the land use and agricultural production in agrotouristim farms operating in the municipalities, including the areas of Białowieża National Park. The research was conducted in 2010 and completed in 2011, however, the obtained data concerned the year of 2010. 27 farm owners agreed to participate in the questionnaire survey. The main areas of the research conducted in the agritourism farms were: land resources with regard to agricultural land areas, their exploitation, as well as soil quality; the cultivation areas of particular species and groups of plants; number of animal units of particular species of livestock; family size; type of food services; number of sold food services. According to the obtained data, that the average area of agritourism farm in Białowieża and Narewka communes was 4.81 ha. The percentage of the farms cultivating plants amounted to 29.6%. Livestock were not kept in more than half of the examined farms (55.5%). However, the percentage of the raw materials used by these farms to meet consumption needs of families and tourists averaged out at 53%, while 34.2% was intended for sale.

The article presents influence of pH and glucose concentration on phenylboronic acid (PBA) fluorescence studied by steady-state and time-resolved measurements. Fluorescence of PBA decreases with growing pH. These changes reflected acid-base equilibrium of PBA and allowed to estimate value of pKd as 9.2, which is comparable with literature data. Fluorescence intensity of phenylboronic acid is quenched in presence of glucose. The effect of quenching is more pronounced with increasing pH. At pH 7 quenching can be described by Stern-Volmer equation, at pH 8 and 9 by modified one. The obtained quenching constants are growing with pH increase. The quenching of phenylboronic acid fluorescence by glucose is a static one, which is confirmed by time-resolved measurements. Two lifetimes were found for fluorescence decay of phenylboronic acid. The lifetimes are practically independent on pH and glucose concentration and also fraction of both lifetimes are nearly the same. The obtained Stern-Volmer constants can be interpreted as apparent equilibrium constants of ester formation between acid and glucose.
