Współczesne miasta borykają się z wieloma problemami, które mają wpływ na jakość środowiska mieszkaniowego. Z tego powodu wprowadzane są różne rozwiązania usprawniające funkcjonowanie sąsiedztw mieszkaniowych. Jednym z nich jest różnorodność funkcjonalna, wymieniana jako istotna w wielu koncepcjach dotyczących projektowania współczesnych miast. Celem artykułu jest analiza zjawiska występowania różnorodności funkcji w obrębie dzielnicy mieszkalnej na przykładzie Strijp S w Eindhoven. Metodologia badań obejmuje przegląd literatury dotyczącej projektowania wielofunkcyjnych dzielnic mieszkaniowych, kształtowania założeń wielofunkcyjnych, a także miast kreatywnych i rozwiązań tymczasowych. Różnorodność zostanie przedstawiona na przykładzie założenia Strijp S w Eindhoven w kilku skalach: w skali dzielnicy poprzez występowanie budynków o różnych funkcjach, poprzez omówienie budynków wielofunkcyjnych łączących różne przeznaczenia, a także jako występowanie różnych rozwiązań w obrębie jednej typologii funkcjonalno-przestrzennej.

Contemporary cities struggle with many problems that affect the quality of the housing environment. For this reason, various solutions are being introduced to improve the functioning of residential neighbourhoods. One of them is use diversity, mentioned as important in many concepts regarding the design of contemporary cities. The aim of the article is to analyse the presence of diversity of uses within residential district on the example of Strijp S in Eindhoven. The research methodology includes a review of the literature on the design of multifunctional residential districts, shaping multifunctional complexes, as well as creative cities and temporary solutions. Diversity will be presented on the example of the Strijp S development in Eindhoven at several scales: at the district scale, through the presence of buildings with different uses, through the discussion on multifunctional buildings combining various purposes, and also as the presence of diverse solutions within one functional and spatial typology.
