Obecnie projektowanie urbanistyczne jest niezbędnym narzędziem w procesie kształtowania krajobrazu miasta, w tym harmonijnych przestrzeni publicznych. W procesie tym niezwykle istotne jest ograniczanie wzrostu terytorialnego miast i popieranie rozwoju ich wewnętrznych obszarów, między innymi przez przekształcanie zdegradowanych obszarów przemysłowych, kolejowych, portowych i innych. Artykuł przedstawia wybrane przykłady rewitalizacji obszarów przemysłowych i kolejowych w miastach europejskich ze zwróceniem szczególnej uwagi na rozwiązania przestrzeni publicznych w kształtowanych zespołach.

At present urban design is an indispensable instrument in the process of shaping the landscape of the city, including shaping harmonious public spaces. In this process very important factor is limiting of territorial growth of cities and supporting the development of their inner areas, among other things by transformation of degraded industrial, railway, harbour and other areas. Article presents examples of revitalization of railway and industrial areas in European cities with detailed analyses of public spaces in urban complexes.
