After lasting from April to November drilling works ended up drilling a tunnel under the river Vistula. In this pioneering task for the fi rst time was used machine TBM, which was also implemented this technology in Poland. TBM device was produced in the factory of German company Herrenknecht AG. Immediately after receiving in Schwanau machine was dismantled and transported by several trucks to Warsaw, where it was assembled, and after this process the drilling began on April 8th. TBM shield has a diameter of 5,35 m, the length of the machine is about 68 m, and its weight – about 500 t.
