W artykule przedstawiono zmiany zachodzące na rynku transportu morskiego pod wpływem recesji i ożywienia gospodarczego w latach 2008-2009. W wyniku recesji bez pracy było pond 500 kontenerowców (12% stanu światowej floty) o łącznej pojemności około 1,5 mln TEU, a armatorzy zakończyli 2009 r. ze stratą 15 mld USD. W wyniku ożywienia gospodarczego w I półroczu 2010 r. wzrosła podaż kontenerów i stawki frachtowe. W efekcie wielu armatorów zakończyło I półrocze z zyskiem. W 2010 r. rynek kontenerowy należy do bardziej aktywnych rynków wtórnych. Ożywienie sprawiło, że wprowadzane są do linii nowe statki oraz podpisywane są kontrakty na budowę nowych kontenerowców z planowanymi dostawami w latach 2011-2013.

In the article the author presents the changes in the container shipping market due to the influence of the global economy recession and recovery in 2008-2010. As a result of recession more then 500 containerships are idle (12% world container fleet) with the global capacity 1,5 million TEU. Thereby liner operators lost 15 bln USD in 2009. After the economic growth in the first half 2010 the containers supply and rates grew up. During the first half of 2010, the container shipping market was positively affected by the stronger activity in global trade. A lot of operators ended with the profit the first half of 2010. Container ships are the segment with the relatively highest activity in the second-hand market in 2010. As a result of economic growth new operators upgraded theirs services. New vessels will be deployed in the service and new container tonnage in 2010 could reach 1.4 million TEU. Container operators ordered new ships to be delivered in 2011-2013.
