Hyphomycetes species and environmental factors in various types of lakes were studied. Samples of water were collected every three months in the years 1996-1999 for hydrochemical analyses and in the order to determine the number of hyphomycetes species. Buckwheat-seeds, hemp-seeds, cellophane and snake exuviae were used as bait during the exposure in the laboratory. 119 hyphomycetes species were found in various types of lakes. 26 species were recorded for the first time from Poland. The largest mean number of species was observed in spring in mesotrophic and eutrophic lakes, a bit fewer was noted in humic midforest, distrophic lake
