Artykuł podejmuje temat historii pomnika ku czci Ślązaków – Schlesier Ehrenmal w Wałbrzychu, a także analizuje zagadnienie trudnego dziedzictwa kulturowego, jakim niewątpliwie jest budowla powstała w czasach nazistowskich. Mauzoleum powstało w latach 1936-38, by uczcić ofiary I wojny światowej, ofiary wypadków przy pracy i bojowników nazistowskich, wpisuje się tym samym w konwencję monumentów ku czci ofiar wojennych, a jednocześnie stanowi przykład propagandowego pomnika chwały, typowego dla architektury monumentalnej III Rzeszy. Wałbrzyski Ehremal to jedyna tego typu budowla zachowana na terenie Polski i jeden z nielicznych przykładów w Europie.

The article presents the history of the monument commemorating the Silesians – Schlesier Ehrenmal in Wałbrzych, and analyses the issue of difficult cultural heritage as represented by the object erected during the Nazi period. The Mausoleum was built in the years 1936-38, to commemorate the casualties of World War I, victims of industrial accidents and Nazi militants, and so it represents the style of monuments commemorating war victims while, at the same time, it is an example of a propaganda monument of glory, typical for the monumental architecture of the III Reich. The Ehrenmal in Wałbrzych is the only building of its type preserved in Poland, and one of rare examples in Europe.
