Rewitalizacja to obecnie modny i często poruszany wśród architektów i urbanistów temat. Osobnym problemem jest przywracanie świetności terenom poprzemysłowym, zdegradowanym i przekształconym w różnym stopniu i poprzez różne czynniki. Najbardziej charakterystyczne z nich są te położone w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie wody i związane z przemysłem i transportem rzecznym czy też morskim. Uważane przez wiele lat za obszary zdegradowane, dziś stają się bramą do miasta od strony wody – waterfrontem.

Nowadays a revitalization is one of the most fashionable and often discussed subject among both architects and urban planners. Restoring of post-industrial areas, either destroyed or influenced in a many different ways and by many different factors. The most characteristic ones are those located in the direct vicinity of the water and connected with the industry and by river or sea. Considered by many years as the degraded areas, now become the gateway to the city from the water – the Waterfront.
