In the introduction, the intermodal transport market in Poland is briefly described, with particular emphasis on the restrictions affecting the irregularity in its development. The author focuses on the current state of the intermodal transport in the Odra River estuary ports. Further, the project of the intermodal base in the ferry terminal Świnoujście is presented. The market potential for new sea-land connections is examined. Finally, paper shows the technical and operational assumptions for the intermodal connection Świnoujście- Budapest. The article includes a summary showing the other opportunities and risks in the development of intermodal transport to and from the ports of Western Pomerania.
