W artykule przedstawiono proces planowania, realizacji i kontrolowania (zarządzania) muzeum maszyn górniczych zwanego Ferropolis. Znajduje się ono na terenie po eksploatacji węgla brunatnego Kopalni Golpa-Nord. Eksponatami muzeum jest 5 maszyn górniczych, niegdyś wykorzystywanych do wydobywania węgla oraz zaadaptowane dla różnych funkcji obiekty budowlane kopalni, np. dawna sterownia. Szczególnej analizie poddane zostały aspekty kulturalne i społeczne, gdyż obiekt ten to coś więcej niż tylko muzeum techniki. Ferropolis to również miejsce spotkań, imprez kulturalnych oraz pracy wielu ludzi. Na przykładzie Miasta z Żelaza pokazano korzyści wynikające z odważnych decyzji dotyczących zachowania post-industrialnej infrastruktury i zaadaptowania jej do nowych funkcji.

The article presents the planning process, realisation and controlling (management) of the mining machines museum called Ferropolis. The open air museum of mining machinery is located on the area of open-pit mine Golpe-Nord after exploitation of lignite. There are 5 mining machines, formerly used for the extraction of lignite and the mine structures such as former controller, adapted for different functions. Particular analysis was carried out for social and cultural aspects, as this object is more than just a museum of technique. Ferropolis is also a place of meetings, cultural events and the work of many people. As the example of the City of Steel, there are shown benefits of saving post-industrial infrastructure and its adaptation to new features.
