EN

The New Urbanism (NU) is one of the most influential movements in contemporary urban planning. This work aims to present research on the relation between the inherent to the NU increased urban density and the process of urban regeneration. A comparative analysis of reurbanistation of Łódź and Lille shows that the principle of increased urban density creates a pedestrian-friendly urban environment.

Nowy Urbanizm (NU) stanowi jeden z najbardziej wpływowych ruchów we współczesnej urbanistyce. Odwołując się do wartości tradycyjnego miasta, propaguje on planowanie dostosowane do skali człowieka. Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie badań dotyczących relacji pomiędzy zwiększoną gęstością zabudowy jako składowej NU, a procesem rewitalizacji. Analiza porównawcza procesów reurbanizacji Łodzi i Lille wykazała, iż zasada zwiększonej gęstości zabudowy kreuje przyjazne dla pieszego środowisko zurbanizowane.
