Wiele miast portowych boryka się z problemem starych, nieużywanych nabrzeży. Niekiedy zostają one adaptowane na cele magazynowe, czasem służą jako parkingi. Ciekawy przykład adaptacji dawnego nabrzeża na park miejski pochodzi z Filadelfii. Inwestycja, którą rozpoczęto w 2009 roku, przyciąga uwagę jako przedsięwzięcie wyjątkowe.

Many port cities in Europe and America face the problem of finding new uses for old, unused wharves. Sometimes they are adapted for the purpose of storage, sometimes they are used as car parks. An interesting example of turning the old waterfront into on the park comes from Philadelphia. The project, which began in 2009 is considered as innovative and of great importance for the revitalization of Philadelphian waterfront.
