The increasing public awareness of environmental protection is the cause of many changes which have a particular impact on the energy sector. The 21st century has undoubtedly become a period of enormous changes, and perhaps even a revolution in the way energy is produced. This is an exceptional period, however, not only in this respect. Broad access to information offers enormous opportunities for self-development. More and more studies on the effectiveness of learning and working are being published. Awareness is also growing in terms of the employer's approach to the employee. In the case of pro-environmental measures, the Polish energy sector, regardless of willingness, is forced to change towards renewable energy. Nonetheless, the working conditions and approach to the employee result exclusively from the will of the management. The situation of Polish universities is also unfavourable, especially technical universities, which for years have not even been on the lists of the best universities in the world. Moreover, energy faculties, as well as the sector itself, are going through a crisis in comparison to other developing branches of the economy. The article indicates the possible reasons for this state of affairs, and also proposesdirections for actions possible in the near future, which could be an impulse for change.
