Against the background of civilizational development, the 21st century appears as a time of great opportunities of self-development and general progress but also as a time of various new leisure activities. Thanks to the society’s prosperity, as a consequence of scientific and technological research as well as technological progress, our lives have been improving on a daily basis, evolving towards “excellence”. A similar evolution has taken place in terms of leisure activities that have been known since antiquity. Some of them have slipped into oblivion, giving way to more interesting and controversial forms of leisure, including computer games. Computer games have become a part of our society; the role they have played in the 21st century is immense. Both children and teenagers are involved in this sort of pastime on a daily basis. To many of them, a day without their favourite game or virtual hero is hard to imagine. When asked about computer games, most adolescents will flood you with information on the subject. To children and teenagers, games are a source of lively colours, sounds and great opportunities. They offer a world beyond a child’s common experience. Games make a child feel needed. Most of all, computer games are more attractive and more easily accessible than other leisure activities.

The article discusses the problem of recent changes in so-called “teenage culture”. Theoretical bases of the cultural anthropologic conception were provided by Margaret Mead. According to the author, “teenage culture” is different in each type of Mead’s culture types. Insignificant in the post-figurativstage, “teenage culture” is definitelydistinct in configurativetype in terms of separate aesthetics. This is exemplifiedby teenage subcultures, whose members contest dominant culture patterns (associated with adults). The main question concerns the role of “teenage culture” in the pre-figurativeculture – the modern world. Is the difference between the adults’ and young people’s perspectives evident in “teenage culture”? Moreover, is there a real “teenage culture” nowadays?

This article is an attempt to theoretically capture the concept of space in the context of intergenerational relations, in particular in the field of young people’s relations with their parents. The theoretical approaches undertaken induce an exemplification of the concept of space and its constituent elements, which are distinguished in intergenerational relations. The concept of space is depicted in the notion of social sciences. Intergenerational relations take place in a specific type of space, which consists of individual segments. Taking into account family relationships and ties encourages reflection on the uniqueness and diversity of aspects related to intergenerational relationships between young people and their parents.

The author of the article struggles with a paradox: the post-modern age which views itself as pluralistic nonetheless appears to yearn for upbringing. At the beginning of XXI century, the dissonance between human development, full participation in a wide range of spiritual culture and a tendency to strictly technical education, oriented mainly on efficiency and profits appears in a full range. In this context it is important to educate young people in the responsible use of the gift of freedom. The author of this article presents freedom as a characteristic sign of youth education in the present century. He also shows the pluralism of values and upbringing aimed towards freedom. The author also underlines the Christian approach to freedom, understood as both a gift and a task received from God. Pedagogy of freedom is not a question of transmitting human knowledge, even of the highest kind; it is rather a question of responsibly communicating with God and people. God Himself used a pedagogy that must continue to be a model for the pedagogy of freedom.

Language is the basic tool for the teacher's work. Meanwhile, pedagogues often forget that this tool becomes obsolete, just like the knowledge they pass on in class. The article is an attempt to draw attention to the need to learn the language spoken by young people. Thanks to this, teachers can often understand the student's statement, and thus – take appropriate intervention. It is necessary to know everyday expressions, know what the abbreviations used in text messages mean, and above all be sensitive to phrases that may indicate pathological behaviour. The article contains a few examples of words whose meaning is worth knowing when working with young people.

Education, which is the subject of education for security enables the development of various forms of human behavior. Majority of Roma people are generally perceived as a homogeneous group which is different and lives on the margins of society. Social exclusion and discrimination of Roma in public affairs is an important factor influencing the access of Roma to employment, education, culture and other public services. The problem of the Roma is one of many themes that resonates in our society. It is not only Slovak problem, but also worldwide, but mainly European. I travel abroad seeking access to this ethnic group.

The aim of the paper is to assess the determinants of free time spent in forested areas by students of the Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska, Poland. In the paper, the authors have assessed the need to spend free time in forest, the role of the forest in the respondents’ lives, how much time they spend in this forest environment, and what forms of recreation they pursue here. The authors have also listed the benefits of spending free time in this environment, and what limitations young people have in organizing and using their free time in the forest. The above-mentioned aspects have been assessed analyzing the following factors: sex, place of residence, distance to the nearest forest. The empirical study was conducted in 2013, applying the diagnostic survey method and questionnaire form. The study was carried out on 400 students of the Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska, Poland. The university students mostly declared a will to spend their free time in forested areas, far away from the places they live in. The most popular forms of recreation were marches and strolls, and cycling. The respondents also displayed interest in other activities such as mushroom-picking and socializing in the forest. Spending time in the forest provides various benefits, as was listed by the youths surveyed, i.e. physical and mental recuperation of the body, the need for internal peace and rest, mood improvement, and the possibility of stress relief. While assessing the barriers to spending time in forested areas, the respondents pointed out fear of encountering wild animals and the possibility of being bitten by a tick. Quite an important barrier stated was the distance from the place of their residence to the nearest woods.

The domination of new technologies in the lives of children and the youth leads to its consideration in the context of threats and a potential negative influence on adolescents’ functioning. Considering various threats occurring in the virtual space, first of all it is indicated that the Internet, due to apparent anonymity, is often the space of mutual aggression, mocking and attempts to discredit other net users. The presented study refers to the analysis of behaviours being a demonstration of cyberbullying. The research was conducted in conformity with the quantity-quality paradigm. It involved a method of diagnostic survey using the technique of a questionnaire and documents analysis. As the conducted study showed, cyberbullying is a phenomenon which often occurs among contemporary teenagers. The examined persons were most often victims or witnesses of verbal aggression in the net.

Research shows that although most children violate important behavioral norms at some point in time, it is possible to distinguish among them those who do so more intensely, engaging in physical and verbal aggression, abusing drugs, cigarettes and alcohol, stealing, committing acts of vandalism or failing to follow the rules set by adults. Not all of these behaviors are identified in time by the institutions of formal and informal social control, thus giving ground for their escalation. These behaviors, taking different form and level of representiality, disturb school order. The article refers to the data relating to the situation in American schools in the last decade of the 20th century and the two decades of the 21st century, and to the results of international surveys, which indicate a drop in the age of young people engaging in risky behaviour. Attention was also paid to changes in teenagers’ everyday activities, criminalization and the medicalisation of school discipline.

The article discusses the results of studies on values declared by high school graduates. The survey was conducted in September 2017 in two high schools in Rzeszów. 130 respondents were asked to point out 3 of the most treasured positive values and 3 of the most undesirable anti-values. The high school graduates were also asked what they expected from their Polish teachers who discover the world of values with them. The analysis of students’ answers indicates that high school graduates appreciate the most the following values: love, family, friendship. By contrast, they consider hatred, falsehood, disease and egotism to be the most unwanted anti-values. In the respondents’ view it is worth discussing thoroughly and delving into the meaning of notions such as: erotic love, friendship, freedom or hatred.

In the face of different civilization changes threatening human health and life, risky behaviours of youth have become one of the essential research areas of present-day psychology. The conclusions of this research can be used to design programmes and preventive measures in this area. The purpose of this research was to determine the structure of risky behaviours of youth at secondary-school age. It was assumed that within a group of youth from the second class of the secondary school, most of the risky behaviours associated with the use of alcohol, nicotine and drugs occurred at least once during the 12 months preceding the research. It was also assumed that sex differentiates risky behaviours in terms of their frequency and structure. The research was conducted on a group of youth of the second class of secondary school. This group consisted of 158 people. To determine the risky behaviours the diagnostic survey method was used. The conclusions of the research made it possible to outline a picture of the spread of these dysfunctions in the school environment of the youth. The vast majority of the respondents declared that during the 12 months preceding the survey, they most frequently used alcohol. Only one out of ten respondents claimed to have abstained from alcohol. Also popular was the use of tobacco and cannabis (marijuana and hashish). The most signifi cant differences between girls and boys occurred primarily in the field of tobacco use, with the frequency of ‘1–5 cigarettes daily’ in favor of girls

The moral teaching of Jehovah’s Witnesses about the proper lifestyle em-phasizes, above all, due relations with parents and peers, entertainment and concern for the health of adolescents. In the articles of the Society of the Watchtower, the authors of the magazines emphasize that young people choose such friends for whom moral values are the basic measure of Christian life. The attitude of humiliation towards parents should result from purely religious reasons, and disobedience results in suspicion, lack of trust and abandonment of spiritual practices. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that young people reach for stimulants to alleviate problems. Regardless of the consequences, they destroy health and ruin their own future. The young man begins to compensate for the lack of due love by reaching for the drug. Young people use free time not always in a constructive way. They play sports, but often for vain competition and fame. They listen to loud music isolating themselves from external stimuli. They often fall into gambling and pornography, making themselves slaves of their own mistakes and falls. According to Jehovahʼs Witnesses, these symptoms mean “last days”. Only those who reject moral contamination can expect a beautiful future.

The efficacy of replacing generic running with Taekwondo (TKD) specific technical skills during interval training at an intensity corresponding to 90-95% of maximum heart rate (HRmax) has not yet been demonstrated. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare the HR responses and perceived exertion between controlled running and high-intensity TKD technical interval training in adolescent TKD athletes. Eighteen adolescent, male TKD athletes performed short-duration interval running and TKD specific technical skills (i.e. 10-20 [10-s of exercise interspersed with 20 s of passive recovery]) in a counterbalanced design. In both training methods, HR was measured and expressed as the percentage of HR reserve (%HRres). Rating of perceived exertion (RPE, Borg's category rating-10 scale), Banister's training impulse (TRIMP) and Edwards' training load (TL) were used to quantify the internal training load. Recorded cardiovascular responses expressed in %HRres in the two training methods were not significantly different (p > 0.05). Furthermore, the two training methods induced similar training loads as calculated by Banister and Edwards' methods. Perceived exertion ranged between "hard" and "very hard" during all interval training sessions. These findings showed that performing repeated TKD specific skills increased HR to the same level, and were perceived as producing the same training intensity as did short-duration interval running in adolescent TKD athletes. Therefore, using specific TKD kicking exercises in high-intensity interval training can be applied to bring more variety during training, mixing physical and technical aspects of the sport, while reaching the same intensity as interval running.

It is noted that in the context of globalization of the modern world the dialogue between different cultures is an essential requirement of the XXI century. Social barriers that impede the development of intercultural dialogue, which can not be carried out subject to the socio-cultural identity of various ethnic groups, nations and countries, are characterized. The modern paradigm of intercultural dialogue is based on the recognition of the increasing role of national culture and open, trusting, friendly interchange of cultural values in a multicultural society.

The bill to amend the statute provides for a prohibition of the sale of the listed drinks to persons under 18 years of age on the premises of schools and other units of the educational system and in vending machines. The implementation of the proposed bans requires an analysis and a substantive decision, in particular regarding the harmfulness of drinks containing caffeine or taurine when consumed by minors. The possibility of achieving the required objective with the use of other measures should be considered. The proposed regulations determining criminal liability for noncompliance with the prohibitions on the advertising and sale of such drinks may be considered disproportionately harsh, as both their advertising and sale will be punished more severely than the advertising or sale of alcohol.
