Political and economical changes in Poland have appeared also on the ornamental plant market. On the one hand the supply of imported flowers has increased, on the other a decrease of domestic ornamental plants supply has been observed but the drop was lower than the decrease of flower area under cover would indicate. The relatively high, in spite of real incomes decrease, real and potential demand of Polish society for ornamental plants and the great potential possibilities of their future export to the nearest foreign outlets, especially to Central-East European countries, provide chances for the development of floriculture in Poland. It is necessary, however, to cope with the competition of flowers from other countries, not only by changes in production, but also by wholesale market organization based on producer's cooperation in order to sell ornamental plants in domestic and foreign markets.
