In all Upper and Lower Sorbian grammars, aspect is a grammatical category, regarded a typical “Slavic” traitin spite of the fact that since Bermel 1994, aspect can be safely said to have evolved separately in the individual Slavic languages. The character of aspect in Sorbian, especially in Upper Sorbian, is highly disputable (and has been disputed since the beginning of the 20th century (cf. Werner 2003). An exception to one of the rules of Slavic aspect (namely that something happening at the time of talking must be expressed by means of an imperfective verb) are the so-called perfomative verbs. This acceptance and the termAktverben go back to Koschmieder 1929 but have never been thoroughly verified for individual verbs in the Sorbian languages. In this paper, the author makes an attempt at shedding some light on the aspect usage of performative verbs in Upper Sorbian.

The article is an attempt at characterizing the connections between KOR (the Workers’ Defense Committee, established by a group of Polish oppositionists in June 1976) and theatrical practice. Theatrical references are mentioned together with the prevailing literary –regerences in two areas: biographical (the founders of the movement were writers, poets, songwriters, and actors) and ideological. The biographical area also serves as an introduction to the other perspective which can be referred to as ideological. The theatre became a breeding ground for thoughts defying the communist reality. It was a meeting place for the broadly defined opposition, a cradle of ideas hostile to the system based on “workers and peasants” and the alliance with the Soviet Union. The resulting works included politicized performances of the classics as well as performances presented by alterative groups: Teatr Ósmego Dnia: Teatr 77, Jedynka, Provisorium and Teatr Stu. KOR’s activity from 1976 to the beginning of martial law introduced on 13 December 1981 clearly shows that the links between the revolutionary movement and the theater were an important feature of dissident activity and helped to reinforce and popularize its ideological values.

In my article, I examine the relationship between the documentary and performance. I focus special attention on Maciej Sobieszczański and Łukasz Ronduda’s film The Performer, which blurs the boundaries between film genres. Oskar Dawicki is a performer, and the protagonist of both a creative documentary and a feature film – this balancing on the borders of film genres and art is the focus of my reflections. The film’s authors took inspiration from the creative documentaries of Wojciech Wiszniewski and the plots of Grzegorz Królikiewicz, in which characters play themselves – in both cases, creative elements reveal the truth about each character. The most important aspect to me is the presence of the performer, which determines the form of the film and its reception. In my article I follow several themes which are key for understanding The Performer, among them the motif of disappearance and the relationship between the master and the disciple. I also deal with the problem of documenting performances – using the example of The Performer and the recording of Marina Abramović’s activities (Seven Easy Pieces by Marina Abramović, 2007). I also refer to the documentary film on Marina Abramović, The Artist Is Present, in which the performances recorded from 2010 go beyond the documentary formula.

Purpose. To aim of this study was to analyze the effects of maltodextrin supplementation on cardiovascular and performance parameters during simulated Mountain Biking (MTB) competition as well as the cardiorespiratory and blood glucose (BG) response to a maximal test performed in a laboratory on elite MTB athletes. Methods. A total of eight male bikers [age: 28.4 ± 10.6 years; body fat: 9.46 ± 3.76 %; VO2max: 55.31 ± 4.7 mL/kg/min], participated in a double-blind study. The athletes received maltodextrin supplementation (1g/kg) or a placebo (light tangerine juice) 20 min before competition (seven 2 km laps) or before a laboratory maximal test. An incremental exercise test on a cycloergometer was performed to find any alterations in maximal HR, Watts max, VO2max, VEmax, and VO2 at the ventilatory threshold (VT), using a gas exchange analyzer. Comparisons between the simulated competition and laboratory variables (maltodextrin vs. placebo) were made using ANOVA and a two-tailed paired Student's t-test, where p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results. Maltodextrin supplementation reduced 26 s in the mean time spent on completing all laps (Maltodextrin: 9 min and 16 s vs. placebo: 9 min and 35 s; p < 0.05). In laboratory testing, maltodextrin raised BG during exercise (Maltodextrin: 104.1 ± 20.9 mg/dL vs. placebo: 88.2 ± 5.3 mg/dL; p < 0.05), power output at the ventilatory threshold (Maltodextrin: 260.8 ± 12.9 vs. placebo: 150.5 ± 8.7; p < 0.05) but had no effect on cardiorespiratory variables. Conclusion. Maltodextrin was found to enhance athletic performance during MTB competition, showing that it can play an important role in supplementation strategies for these competitors.

Purpose. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of different exercise orders on the local muscular endurance of trained women. Methods. Nineteen women with a minimum of two years experience in resistance training volunteered to participate in the study (age 27.68 ± 5.24 years; body mass 60.31 ± 7.50 kg; height 161.83 ± 7.05 cm; body mass index 22.85 ± 1.85 kg · m-2). Data were collected in two phases: 1) determining the one repetition maximum (1RM) for the bench press (BP), machine lat pull-down (LPD), free-weight shoulder press (SP), standing free-weight biceps curl (BC), and triceps extension (TE); 2) the completion of two resistance training sequences including 4 sets of exercise at 60% of 1RM with 2 minute rest intervals between sets with exercises performed until failure: Sequence A (SEQ A) comprised of: BP, LPD, SP, BC, TE while sequence B (SEQ B): TE, BC, SP, LPD, BP. Results. The mean number of repetitions per set in BP and TE presented significant reductions (p = 0.001 and p = 0.026, respectively) when they were the last exercise performed in each exercise sequence. Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE) was not significantly different between the exercise sequences; however, increases for BC (in SEQ A) and BP (in SEQ B) were observed when they were performed later in the sequences. Conclusion. These data indicate that in trained women, local muscular endurance is affected by exercise sequence, with exercises performed later in a workout sequence showing decreased exercise ability due to fatigue.

In this paper I analyze the way of construing memory and identity in the works of Lviv-based artist Olena Kostiuk. I place particular emphasis on two of her projects: The Orchard and The Mirror. In both of them the artists refers to Ukrainian archetypes, testimonies and material remnants of the past, using them in her performance, forcing the audience to rethink human condition as well as their own attitude towards the past, the tradition, and the nation.

The paper concerns the basic methododlical issues of defining and measuring the impact of strategy and logistics on companies' performance. The literature review reveals a lack of empirical research on the relationship between generic strategies like cost leadership and differentiation, the extent of use of integrative logistics practices and performance. A conceptual framework is proposed for assessing the relationships between the three variables outlining their dimensions and content. It is concluded that the key to competitive success is to choose the appropriate strategy and develop the corresponding logistics capabilities including the management capability to consolidate knowledge and skills in the supply chain. Three hepotheses are raised and the models undelying them are discussed. Some recommendations are made in relation to the methods used for testing the hypotheses. The framework is a basis for conducting an empirical study on the role of logistics in mediating the impact of strategy on performance.

Specific art practices, which include performance, are especially prevalent in popular culture at the turn of the 20th and 21st century. The concept of ‘performance’ means an action in the process of which creation involves a new experience both for the performer of the action and for the recipient. However, it is necessary to distinguish performance as a type of cultural action, dramatization, and performative potential of a work, creating conditions for influencing the consciousness of a person who, when perceiving a work, becomes a full participant in a creative act. Modern fairy-tale plays written by playwrights based on well-known works or the authors’ own dramatic tales have great performative potential. They connect the game principle, the performativity of a fairy tale, capable of activating empathy, influencing the child’s consciousness through the magic of the word, and the performance of the drama, the goal of which is to involve the young viewer in the show. At the same time, the theatrical performance of fairy-tale plays and the metatheatrical techniques involved in them have a significant visual impact on the young audience, which also contributes to the performative dialogue. The moralizing orientation of modern fairy-tale plays, reflecting the current moral and ethical problems of the society, increases the efficiency of the educational process, and contributes to the fulfilment of modern didactic tasks. In this article, based on the Russian playwright Anna Bogacheva, an attempt is made to identify those features of modern fairy-tale plays that convey their performative character and didactic potential.

Identity-based signature is an important technique for light-weight authentication. Recently, many efforts have been made to construct identity-based signatures over lattice assumptions since they would remain secure in future quantum age. In this paper we present a new identitybased signature scheme from lattice problems. This scheme is more efficient than other lattice-based identity-based signature schemes in terms of both computation and communication complexities. We prove its security in the random oracle model under short integer solution assumption that is as hard as approximating several worst-case lattice problems. We also extend the scheme to an identity-based message recovery signature scheme that has better performance.

The present artile dealt with the post-war production of the stage play Theatre of the Eternal War by Nikolai Evreinov. The author discussed the history of stage presentations of Jevrenov’s drama in Poland. Then she developed the topic referred to in the title of the play in focus. Theatre of the Eternal War was presented in the Wybrze􀄪e Theatre in 1967. Skillful costruction of the scenography, which only apparently resembles a naturalistic one, made it possible to maintain the sense as well as the humour of the text, which is difficult when a stage production of an author’s plays is made many years after the works had been written. In case of the performance discussed in this paper the division theatre/reality, typical for Evreinov, was succesfully maintained.

This article discusses Tomasz Kubikowski’s book Zjadanie psów [Dog-Eating] (Warszawa 2019), which combines the story of nineteenth-century polar expeditions – by John Ross, William Edward Parry, John Franklin, Elisha Kane and Fridtjof Nansen – with the concept of performance as “restored behaviour,” taken expertly from Richard Schechner. Excellently written, almost like a travel-adventure novel, the book presents Arctic exploration as a sequence of performances that owed their social significance to stories; without a story, getting to the pole was hardly worth the trouble, and all the above-mentioned explorers left such accounts. Kubikowski treats them as anthropological narratives, “stories of someone else’s experience”; he also reads in them what their authors were not aware of: for example, that the natives and their culture were completely invisible to the adventurers. The theoretical background of the book is rather complex, as the author has engaged with performance studies for almost twenty years, yet the book is (deliberately) written in such a way as to be enjoyed also by those who do not care for theory.

In the US transportation sector uses two-thirds of the country's total oil consumption. In order to minimize the consumption in this sector there is a need to investigate alternate sources of energy. Biodiesel is a possible alternative to conventional diesel. Biodiesel has many characteristics similar to petroleum based diesel and can be blended with petroleum. However biodiesel's differences in fuel properties including viscosity, bulk modulus, density, and energy content can have significant impacts on engine performance parameters like BSFC and thermal efficiency. As the availability of biodiesel fuel increases, the need for engines capable of running on various mixtures of biodiesel fuel will be required. Similar to flex-fuel ethanol vehicles, control systems for the diesel engine and aftertreatment systems will need to detect and compensate for the fuel type. In this work, a soy based B100 biodiesel fuel and an ultra low sulfur diesel fuel were tested in a high-speed direct-injection high pressure common rail four-cylinder 1.9 L diesel engine. An internally developed engine control strategy allowed real-time calibration and testing of independent control parameters including start of injection, injection duration, injection pressure, and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) level. Both the fuels were studied under varied injection timing (0°BTDC to 12°BTDC with increments of 3°) and EGR percentages of 0 and 10%. Analysis was performed to determine the Torque, BSFC and Brake thermal efficiency.

The study aims to develop and validate a Teacher Grit Scale and determine its predictive validity for performance. This quantitative research utilized exploratory, confirmatory, and regression analyses based on data from 1425 teachers of the Department of Education, Philippines. Exploratory factor analysis established the factorial validity of a 2-factor structure as compared to 3-factor and 4-factor models. Confirmatory factor analyses from Region IX and Region X of the Department of Education reveal strong cross-validation between the 2-factor models and the data using goodness-of-fit indices. These outcomes show that the factors describing grit are: (1) Perseverance in Teaching and (2) Passion and Purpose in Teaching. Grit relates significantly to teacher performance. However, only the first dimension of grit - perseverance in teaching, established predictive validity with performance.

This review examines the trend of applying theories in LM performance and offers the latest recapitulation of related theories in LM performance. The methodology is based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA) to search for multiple scientific information databases and to guarantee that no important study is overlooked. For the single theory, highly employed theories were the Theory of Constraints, Resource-based View/Natural Resource-based View Theory (RBV/NRBV), and Contingency Theory (CT). Meanwhile, several employed integrations of several theories in a publication. Concerning the year of publication, significant growth in articles with underpinned theories was published articles from 2020 onwards. This study offers several significant contributions to researchers to widen the knowledge related to the adaptation of theories in the field of lean performance, as research underpinned by a theory offers a solid and convincing result in investigating the research problems. The first limitation was the search string to identify the related articles, which could be extended to maximize the article search. The other limitation was the database used which was limited to the Scopus database. Despite the importance of underpinning theory in research, OM has been criticized for the inadequacies of its theory, with only one-third of OM research incorporating theory. However, a limited review was conducted on the theories used in LM performance theory. To reduce this gap, this review examines the trend of applying theories in LM performance and offers the latest recapitulation of related theories in LM performance.

The objective of the present work is to find out the viable substitute fuel for diesel and control of pollutants from compression ignition engines. Therefore, in this present investigation an attempt has been made to study the effect of 20% proportion of five different biodiesel diesel blend in diesel engine. The 20% proportion of biodiesel such as Jatropha, Pongamia, Mahua, Annona and Nerium and 80% of diesel and it is denoted as J20, P20, M20, A20 and N20 are used in the present investigation. The experimental results showed that the brake thermal efficiency of the different biodiesel blend is slightly lower when compared to neat diesel fuel. However, N20 blend, have shown improvement in performance and reduction in exhaust emissions than that of other biodiesel diesel blends. From, the experimental work, it is found that biodiesel can be used up to 20% and 80% of diesel engine without any major modification. The conducted experiments were conducted on a four cylinder four stroke DI and turbo charged diesel engine using biodiesel blends of waste oil, rapeseed oil, and corn oil with normal diesel. The peak cylinder pressure of the engine running with bio diesel was slightly higher than that of diesel. The experiments were conducted on a four cylinder four stroke diesel engine using bio diesel made from corn oil.

The work presents an innovative design of a vibrating machine for cleaning pollution with a pulsating immersed jet with solid particles and analytically obtained the dependence of the mass productivity of the machine on the design parameters of the machine and the modes of operation of the vibration drive. The research results show that the optimal oscillation frequency of the machine drive lies in the range from 13 to 14 Hz with an amplitude of oscillations of 2 mm and a ratio of the diameter of the nozzle to the diameter of the pulsation chamber of 1:10. The conducted studies of the effectiveness of cleaning showed that mass wear of metal balls and changes in the roughness of the base of the sample are practically not observed due to the occurrence of minor stresses on the surface of the sample elastic character. As a result of the study of the efficiency of cleaning model pollution, it was found that increasing the angle of attack of a pulsating immersed jet with metal balls from 900 to 1250 leads to an increase in the efficiency of cleaning. The analysis of the appearance of the surface of model pollutants confirmed the main theoretical assumptions about the mechanical nature of the interaction of a submerged pulsating jet of liquid with solid particles with pollution and showed the effectiveness of the method of cleaning pollution with a pulsating submerged jet of liquid with solid particles.
