Purpose: This paper explores the enduring repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic on global supply chains by investigating the experiences and adaptations of organizations in Poland, Georgia, and Turkey. It seeks to provide valuable insights into the long-term implications of the pandemic on supply chain management, with a focus on strategies and challenges faced by businesses in different regions. Design/Methodology/Approach: We conducted an extensive study utilizing an online questionnaire to gather primary data from a diverse sample of organizations in Poland, Georgia, and Turkey. This research approach is quantitative and comprehensively assess the pandemic's impact on supply chains. We analysed responses from a range of industries, enabling a holistic understanding of the topic. In addition to descriptive analysis, we conducted a comparative examination of the three countries using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) to assess any significant differences among them. Furthermore, we employed Cramér's V, a robust statistical measure, to investigate associations between categorical variables within the dataset Findings: The research reveals that the outcomes in three distinct countries are surprisingly similar, contrary to initial expectations. The majority of the proposed COVID-19 factors exhibit no statistically significant distinctions among Poland, Georgia, and Turkey. Consequently, we can infer that the COVID-19 pandemic exerted a considerable and widespread impact on the entities under consideration. Research Limitations: Despite our efforts to gather a representative sample, the study may not encompass all industries and organizations equally. Additionally, the research is subject to the limitations of self-reported data and potential bias in responses. The focus on specific regions may not capture the entirety of global supply chain dynamics. Practical Implications: This research provides practical insights for organizations navigating supply chain challenges in a post-pandemic world. It offers guidance on building resilient and adaptable supply chains and managing risks effectively. Businesses can use these insights to make informed decisions and enhance their supply chain strategies. Originality/Value: Drawing from our own research conducted in three countries after the official conclusion of the pandemic, this study adds a distinctive contribution to the current body of literature. It takes a long-term perspective on the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic on supply chains, specifically emphasizing diverse regions. The employed methodology and regional comparisons offer a nuanced insight into the dynamic evolution of the supply chain landscape, underscoring the importance of adaptability and resilience. In contrast to various studies conducted at the onset and during the pandemic, this paper uniquely seeks to discern the enduring effects.

The influence of different tillage and fertilization practices on changes in soil pH and sorptive parameters of loamy haplic Luvisol was evaluated in a long-term field experiment (established in 1994, in the locality of Dolná Malanta, at the experimental station of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra). The field experiment included two types of soil tillage (conventional tillage – CT and reduced tillage – RT) and also three treatments of fertilization (1. Co – control, 2. PR+NPK – crop residues together with added NPK fertilizers, and 3. NPK – with added NPK fertilizers). The soil was sampled from all treatment sites throughout 1994-2011. The results showed a statistically significant influence of tillage and fertilization on pH and sorptive complex of haplic Luvisol. The values of pH were higher (by 4%) in RT than in CT. The sum of basic cations (SBC), cation exchangeable capacity (CEC) and base saturation (BS) were all higher in RT, by 11%, 8% and 3% respectively, than in CT. In NPK (by 16%) and in PR+NPK (by 20%) the values of hydrolytic acidity (Ha) were decreased in comparison to the control. On the other hand, SBC was elevated. This led to the increase of CEC and BS. Conventional tillage and application of crop residues together with NPK fertilizers increased pH by 0.06 and 0.03 units per year, respectively, which means that the pH in the soil increased by14% and 8%, correspondingly, between 1994 and 2011. In CT and in PR+NPK, an increase of SBC occurred at an average rate of 3.17 and 1.93 mmol kg-1 year-1, respectively. A positive correlation between the content of soil organic carbon (TOC) and Ha (r = 0.334, P ≤ 0.01, n = 54), as well as a negative correlation between TOC and BS (r = -0.307, P ≤ 0.05, n = 54) were determined only in CT.

Bacterial leaf blight is one of the major diseases in rice and affects yields. Thus, various methods have been applied to protect rice from this disease. Here, we show systemic translocation of the human drug niclosamide (5-chloro-N-(2-chloro-4-nitrophenyl)- 2-hydroxybenzamide) in rice and its long-term effect on prevention of rice leaf blight. The development of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae-induced rice leaf blight was effectively inhibited in untreated systemic leaves as in niclosamide-treated leaves, although its effect gradually decreased in a time-dependent manner. Time-course examination after niclosamide treatment showed that the niclosamide level was highest after 3 h in non-treated distal leaves, suggesting fast systemic movement of niclosamide from the treated local site to untreated distal regions. Our data indicate that niclosamide controls rice leaf blight by its rapid systemic movement and that its effect is maintained for a long time.

The sympathetic nervous system belongs to the essential systems participating in blood pressure (BP) regulation. Inhibitory intervention into the key point of its operation (alfa 1 adrenoceptors) in the prehypertensive period of spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) might affect the development of the hypertension in later ontogenic periods. We studied the long-term effect of prazosin administration on the cardiovascular system of young Wistar rats and SHR. Four-week-old animals were used: Wistar rats, SHR, and Wistar rats and SHR receiving prazosin (10 mg/kg/day in tap water) by gavage. Blood pressure (BP) was measured weekly by the plethysmographic method. After six weeks under anaesthesia, the carotid artery was cannulated for BP registration, and the jugular vein was cannulated for administration of drugs. Afterwards, the animals were perfused with a glutaraldehyde fixative at a pressure of 120 mmHg. The septal branch of the left descending coronary artery was processed using electron microscopy. The prazosin administration evoked the following results in both groups: a decrease of BP and heart/body weight ratio, enhancement of hypotensive responses to acetylcholine (0.1 µg, 1 µg, and 10 µg), and an increase in the inner diameter of the coronary artery without changes in wall thickness, cross sectional area (CSA) (tunica intima+media), CSA of smooth muscle cells, and extracellular matrix. In the SHR group, a reduction was observed in BP increase after noradrenaline (1 µg) application. CSA of endothelial cells which was decreased in the SHR (compared to the control Wistar rats) was increased after prazosin treatment (up to control value). Long-term prazosin administration from early ontogeny partially prevented some pathological alterations in the cardiovascular system of SHR.

Stropy z płyt kanałowych pomimo ponad stu lat historii i miliarda metrów kwadratowych wykonanych tego typu konstrukcji w samej Europie nadal w pewnych aspektach projektowych budzą wątpliwości. Wykonana analiza obliczeniowa wykazała ponad trzykrotne przeszacowanie ugięć modelu płyty jednokierunkowej w odniesieniu do badań doświadczalnych. Przedstawiono uproszczone przestrzenne modele obliczeniowe, wraz z podaniem kryteriów stosowania. Badania i analizy wykazały, że powszechnie stosowana metoda obliczeniowa prowadzi do bardzo konserwatywnych wyników - nie oddając rzeczywistej charakterystyki pracy stropów z płyt kanałowych.

Despite over a hundred years of history and a billion square meters made in Europe alone, hollow-core slabs still raise doubts in some design aspects. The article presents the results of the short-term and long-term loads on a full-scale hollow-core slab with dimensions of 6.31 x 6.31 m. The test was carried out under an unsymmetrical gravity load, and the last measurement was carried out after 665 days. The computational analysis indicates over three times overestimated deflections of the one-way slab model compared to the experimental tests. Simplified spatial computational models are presented, along with application criteria. The research and the presented analyses have shown that the commonly used calculation method leads to very conservative results, without reflecting the actual performance characteristics of hollow-core slabs.

The study aimed at determining effects of monosodium glutamate (MSG), introduced in the perinatal period, on the reproductive system of .sexually mature female rats. ln days 2, 4, 6, 8, l0 the: newborns received s.c. injections of MSG (4 mg/g body weight) or2% NaCl solution. When the animals reached the age of 6, l2 or l8 months, their ovaries and uteri were isolated for histological and morphometric studies while in their sera estradiol level was estimated by the RIA technique. The perinatal injection of MSG was found to decrease relative weights of ovaries and uteri. In the ovaries increased numbers of primordial follicles and deceased numbers of graafian follicles were detected . Also the thickness of endometrium and of the epithelium, which lined the endometrium, were lowered in females, which received perinatal injections of MSG, as compared to the controls. Serum estradiol level in MSG injected females was lowered at the age of 12 and 18 month old females the alterations were accompanied by obesity and a decreased body length.

Tests of a full-scale slab model with dimensions of 6,30 x 6,30 m, built of TERIVAPANEL panels, were carried out under short-term and long-term load. TERIVA PANEL panels are half precast, prestressed concrete slabs with ribs connected at the bottom with specially shaped cross-connection (shear key), enabling transfer loads between the panels. The tests were carried out under load placed on the top of the slab. Additionally, the load was applied sequentially, and measurements were made by the electronic method. In one of the stages of long-term testing, the load was applied to one half of the slab to examine the possibility of faulting. Comparing the displacements obtained from the experimental model with the calculations of the one-way slab model showed more than threefold differences in the obtained results. The currently used calculation methods lead to very conservative displacement values, not reflecting the actual work model of slabs with joints transferring loads between the panels.
