Content available remote Tensor Framework and Combined Symmetry for Hypertext Mining
100%
EN
We have made a case here for utilizing tensor framework for hypertext mining. Tensor is a generalization of vector and tensor framework discussed here is a generalization of vector space model which is widely used in the information retrieval and web mining literature. Most hypertext documents have an inherent internal tag structure and external link structure that render the desirable use of multidimensional representations such as those offered by tensor objects. We have focused on the advantages of Tensor Space Model, in which documents are represented using sixth-order tensors. We have exploited the local-structure and neighborhood recommendation encapsulated by the proposed representation. We have defined a similarity measure for tensor objects corresponding to hypertext documents, and evaluated the proposed measure for mining tasks. The superior performance of the proposed methodology for clustering and classification tasks of hypertext documents have been demonstrated here. The experiment using different types of similarity measure in the different components of hypertext documents provides the main advantage of the proposed model. It has been shown theoretically that, the computational complexity of an algorithm performing on tensor framework using tensor similarity measure as distance is at most the computational complexity of the same algorithmperforming on vector space model using vector similarity measure as distance.

The present article is devoted to a textological analysis of the so-called intertextual proper names, i.e. units that relate to the structure of names that have been constructed earlier. The article attempts to characterize the so-called proprial (onymic) texts with the relations taking place between the hypotext (cf. “source name”) and the hypertext and/or hypertexts (cf. target name) taken into consideration. Considering the way particular texts are derived via a transition of some kind, a number of types has been distinguished: transtextualization, intertextualization, transformation, iconization and imitation. Transtextualisation involves names transferred from one onymic plane to another without any formal change (cf. Polish Pożegnanie z Afryką (Out of Africa) – the title of a film > Pożegnanie z Afryką – the name of a branch of shops in Poland). Transformations are names that have originated as a result of different linguistic transformations of the source text, i.e. the hypotext (cf. Skierniewice – a place name of a town > the Skierniewka – the name of a river). Imitations correspond to names formed in artificial onymic conditions, through analogy to structures already existing in the propial tradition (e.g. Biedaczkowo [Penuryville] – a text in the function of a place name, Bezczelnicki – a joke name to be found in literature). Intextualisations are, in turn, names whose structure contains hypotexts resulting from indirect influence or more or less precise application of their structure (cf. Słoń Torbalski – the name of a fancy leather goods manufacturer from the classic verse by J. Tuwim about its eponymous protagonist, the forgetful elephant, Tomasz Trąbalski). Finally, iconizations are created as a result of a transformation of the structure of pastiche-type hypotext or parody or burlesque (cf. Rozmowy w tłoku < Rozmowy w toku). The article also discusses differences between the so-called classic(archetypal) and prioprial text, as well as the functions of intertextual appellative texts, that involves updating of name-resources of a given system, among others.

The article focuses on a hashtags as a tool of networked culture and networked social movements, and – at the same time – on self-expression phenomenon of a selfie. Although today hashtags, in particular, can been seen as a frequently used weapon in information wars and a tool of propaganda 2.0, seen from historical perspective, this very tool aligns itself first and foremost with emancipatory forces in the Internet history. These forces, expressed in A Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace and in participatory ideals of Web 2.0 are now in withdrawal. As the Internet is now in a peculiar development phase, ruled by the logic of surveillance capitalism, those early ideals of free speech and exchange of ideas are now overshadowed by a “darkening of the digital dream (Shoshana Zuboff). The central argument suggests that the “Kardashian moment” on the one hand, and Occupy Wallstreet, on the other hand, constituted a point in time where new media affordances and social phenomena were aligned. At the same time, both hashtag and selfie can be viewed as a response to the betrayalof individualization processes started in the 1960s, then carried on and amplified by the early Internet, and in the end commodified by the growing Internet giants and established structures of power

This article begins with a brief characterization of the writer’s notebook as a special text type. Then the article analyzes structural and compositional features that notebooks of the 19th and 20th centuries have in common with postmodernist prose. These features include: a) fragmentary narration; chaotic composition; many syntactic and semantic ellipses; b) the absence of one main idea and an important role of chance in the creative process; c) an opportunity to start reading a text from any of its parts, even from the end; d) a great number of intertextual links; similarity to hypertext; e) no stylistic and thematic limitations, etc. There are three possible explanations of these points of convergence: a psychological one, a linguistic one and a historical-literary one.

The article treats of the replacement of the traditional literary structure (linear and static) by the hypertext read on-screen and recognized by the computer navigation. As the situation is determined by the rapid development of new technologies, the elementary features of hypertexts and cybertexts are discussed in the context of the relationship between texts and media. The notion of intermedia and the role of text in virtual reality is especially discussed.

Following the development of e-literature and the state of research on the subject both in Poland and abroad, the author attempts to outline research perspectives for e-poetics. This discipline, barely over twenty years old, concerns the study of literary texts that are created with the use of digital technologies. Hypertextual works available online and via digital carriers are characterized by intermediality and interactivity, and they differ from printed literature in that computers are indispensable tools for their creation, existence and reception. What are the consequences of this change of medium for literature, its structure, the process of communication with the reader and the interpretative possibilities? How can one describe the relationship between the old and the new form of a literary text? Finally, why is it important to introduce research on electronic literature into academic education?

The discussion initiated in the 1960s by McLuhan concerning the interrelationship between what is said (orality) and what is written (literacy) has been replaced by a new approach focusing on the connection between image and text. This shift of attention results, among others, from the increasing role of technical media and computers and the decreasing role of the traditional written culture in the shape of books and print. The contemporary media are becoming something more than just a passive tool for information transmission. The text and the word itself are undergoing technologization, as Walter Ong, has put it, and they are often accompanied by the image. Linguistics cannot ignore these changes, and investigates the evolving materiality of communication, focusing on design, the so-called text performance, visual layer, and the whole emerging from both the image and text. The last two are becoming so strictly connected, especially in internet hypertexts, that the phrase “iconic turn” is often used. Apart from that, there appears text fragmentation, which leads to changes in the process of reception: ordinary reading recedes replaced by holistic reading (based on whole images).

The tabular structure of legal texts and the principles of their drafting result in the frequent use of various types of references, which has a negative impact on the comprehensibility of the law. As legal texts are nowadays drafted and made available in electronic format, it is reasonable to try to develop automated mechanisms for checking the correctness of references contained in these texts. The paper shows how a particular type of automated and dedicated information management mechanisms, offered by the so-called adaptive hypertexts, can be used for this purpose. The authors focus primarily on describing the specificity of this type of tools and on analyzing the possibilities, principles and prospects of their use in order to improve the quality of legal texts, in particular their comprehensibility.

Travel is one of the most popular items people tend to be comfortable with purchasing over the Internet. Hypertext is a form of electronic text composed of blocks of words (or images) linked electronically by multiple paths, chains, or trails. This study explores the importance of hypertext in the travel destination choice from websites. Results show that hypertext links containing images of destinations, informative texts, and search tools are the three most important features utilized by tourist website browsers. This study aims to offer insights into new areas for further research on tourism websites design, application and evaluation.

The following article is an attempt to point out the conceptional similarities between two medially distinct kinds of text - the aphorism and the hypertext. The basis for achieving this aim is the concept of coherence. This article supports a broader, process-oriented concept of coherence, which involves the reader as the creator of coherence. The analysis concetrates on the aphorism, with its fragmentary structure, which demandrs participation in constructiong the sense of the text. An attempt is made to exemplify the conceptional hypertextuality of such texts with some aphorisms of K. Kraus, E. Canetti and S. J. Lec.

This article is about hypertext as a phenomenon directly imbedded in globalization. The dynamie development of various nonlinear processes has led to the active development ofnon-linearity in language. This is most evident in the linguistic unit of the hypertext. In particular, the electronic hypertext reveals features that have never before existed in language, making the classification and regulation of these features at th s stage o f language leaming impossible, as the traditional definition o f standards is based on a linear languagelevel, and hypertext, a complicated non-hnear formation, with the signs o f other semiotic systems, in other languages, etc.

The article discusses image development in “Parallax” (an internet magazine devoted to computer games), with a special focus on aspects of visual identification. The article presents the characteristics of “Parallax”, the stages of building its image, and the building of the brand, with special attention paid to issues such as the design of name, logo, typography, and the selection of the appropriate color. The aim of the study is to demonstrate how conscious image building affects perceptions of the e-zine. Thanks to developments in interactivity, the mass media communication model is changing. The engagement of the sender and receiver provides clues for the proper functioning of this new-born journalism type, which is a key contributor that is rapidly gaining importance in relation to traditional media types. The author reveals plans to increase the contribution of graphic, visual aspects in internet media models when comparing them to “paper” media, which often seems to be underestimated by publishers and explains its importance for identity creation in internet media.

The article deals with native advertising (hidden advertising) disguised as regular site content. To analyze the advertising discourse on the treatment of a disease, we used a cognitive schema (frame) containing a specific set of slots. It was found that a hypertext nature of advertising leads to rupture of the schema and delayed submission of the main frame slot (means/ways to treat the disease), transferring it from the start of the message to its target portion. It was also shown how a frame nature of advertising predetermined semantics of positive evaluation of the words – slot fillers. Native advertising is represented as a means of manipulating individual consciousness and as a way of exercising individual mental (and verbal) aggression.

Radio art evolves due to technological changes. Radio drama is becoming an interactive piece of artwork which exists on the borderland of genres. An interactive audio play uses characteristic features of the classical radio art and unites them with the hypertextual structure. Due to these modifications, there emerges not only a new type of audio play, but also a lot of alternative ways of listening and interpretation. The aim of the article is to present interactive radio drama Alicja 0700, its genre’s determinants in reference to the idea of “the open work”.

With the aesthetical project in mind of composing a theatre à la well-tempered clavichord (Clavecin bien tempéré du théâtre), Jean Tardieu manages to achieve it due to a couple of oxymoronic gestures, that is diairesis and sunagôgè. If the former suggests an irreverent theatre (the result of the re-writing of a series of transformational operations and of demystification of the collective imaginary) with a major focus on obsolete paradigms (vaudeville, bourgeois drama, boulevard drama), the latter is rather a matter of revisiting or transvaluating these hypotexts in the manner of, say, Matéï Visniec’s theatre. Space, time, language and characters undergo some distortion in order to highlight an outworn scenic chronotope, an old world, and to refer to theatre itself in a self-referential gesture. While showing us to the lounge, certain rough sketches would make the spectator consider a dynamic interpretation performed in Diderot’s, Labiche’s or in Feydeau’s time, but this topos has nothing to do with the function miming offstage workings, since it merely provides a theatrical convention. The spectator, receiver of a didascalic paratext with a metatextual scent, becomes an accomplice in this act of théâtromageiros
