W artykule opisano rozwój linii dużych prędkości (LDP) na świecie, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem infrastruktury tych linii. Scharakteryzowano wymagania dotyczące interoperacyjności i kompatybilności LDP, doboru elementów nawierzchni klasycznych i niekonwencjonalnych eksploatowanych na tych liniach, oddziaływań pojazdów na nawierzchnię oraz środowisko naturalne. Omówiono również parametry układu geometrycznego oraz wymagania dotyczące jakości położenia torów na liniach dużych prędkości. Przedstawiono program budowy LDP w Polsce.

The article describes the development of high-speed rail lines (HSR) worldwide with particular attention given to their infrastructure. Requirements related to the interoperability and compatibility of the HSR, selection of the classical as well as nonconventional permanent way components used at these lines, and also effect of the rolling stock on the permanent way and impact on the environment were presented. Geometrical parameters as well as the requirements related to the track laying quality in high-speed rail lines were discussed. A programme for the HSR construction in Poland was presented.
