OWAS jest praktyczną metodą pozwalającą na identyfikację oraz ocenę pozycji zajmowanych podczas pracy. Pozwala na identyfikację narażeń na wystąpienie dolegliwości szkieletowo-mięśniowych. W artykule przedstawiono założenia, ograniczenia i modyfikacje metody. Przedstawiono również porównanie pozycji opisanych w OWAS z tymiż w metodach RULA, REBA oraz w standardach ISO.

OWAS is a practical method for identifying and evaluating working postures related to musculoskeletal disorders. The criteria are based on evaluations made by experienced workers and ergonomics experts. In paper assumptions, limitations and some modifications are discussed. Some comparison of OWAS, RULA, REBA and ISO normalizations is presented.
Stonecutting and setting are important tasks in a construction site. A field study was conducted to assess occupational-related disorders and to conduct ergonomics assessment among stonecutters. The study focused on (a) the duration of work per day, (b) the working environment and working activities and (c) the feeling of discomfort in different parts of the body. A detailed posture analysis was performed with the Ovako working posture analysis system (OWAS). It was observed that stonecutters worked continuously in awkward postures during stonecutting and setting. Consequently, they suffered from discomfort in different parts of their body, specifically in the lower back, knees and shoulders, which mainly prevented them from continuing their work. This study also revealed that stonecutters had to work in congested work areas with a poor level of illumination. The noise level and dust particles emitted during stonecutting activities could affect stonecutters.

In this study, the work of the dentist and the identification of musculoskeletal disorders have been characterized. The analysis and compatibility with literature on the identification of musculoskeletal disorders resulting from professional work of dentists have been presented. The authors assessed the occupational risks associated with static load on the position of the dentist by means of the OWAS method.

W niniejszym artykule scharakteryzowano pracę lekarza stomatologa oraz dokonano analizy literaturowej dotyczącej identyfikacji dolegliwości mięśniowo-szkieletowych będących skutkiem pracy zawodowej lekarzy stomatologów. Autorzy pracy dokonali oceny ryzyka zawodowego związanego z obciążeniem statycznym na stanowisku lekarza stomatologa z zastosowaniem metody OWAS.
One of the elements of the logistics system is the subsystem of production, which is a combination of physical elements such as machinery and equipment, tools, and (most importantly) people. Furthermore, systems dependent on the human-operator are particularly susceptible to problems from discomfort, leading to reduced production quality and an increase in the cost of training and absence from work. The aim of this study was to assess the workload and risk of musculoskeletal discomfort (MSDs) in the position of a logistics-packer, through an analysis of risk factors. A computerized version of the OWAS (Ovako Working Posture Analysis System) method was used to conduct the evaluation, in which 10 steps of the product packaging process were assessed. As a result of the assessment for the category of action categories (AC), six steps qualified as AC 1, 2 steps as AC 2, and 2 steps as AC 3. The main factors affecting the risk of a negative assessment of posture were keeping the back bent and twisted and keeping the legs bent at the knees. Work on the assessed position for two activities is associated with a significant risk of MSDs, therefore corrective actions should be carried out as soon as possible. Ergonomic intervention should be linked to: revision of the position and methods of work. After making changes to the assessed position, re-evaluation with the OWAS method is recommended to verify the effectiveness of the changes.

W artykule podjęto zagadnienie analizy ryzyka zawodowego spowodowanego sposobem wykonywania pracy. W publikacji przedstawiono zastosowanie metody OWAS do identyfikacji ergonomicznych czynników ryzyka.

The paper deals with the ergonomics risk factors and MSDs symptoms. Identification and asessment of potential symptoms of hazards of Occupational Overuse Syndrom is the aim of paper. OWAS method was applied for evaluation of postural load during work at mechanic computer workstation.
The paper describes an assessment of the possibilities of selected Polish-language computer applications of estimating the risk of physical workload of employees at production workplaces (on-line application “IRYS” by CIOP-PIB, “BHP - Ocena ryzyka zawodowego” by PENTA Soft, application by alumni of Lodz University of Technology), with special consideration of static workload. The research questions have been formulated, physiological and legal guidelines have been presented, which served to develop assessment criteria. The results of the evaluation carried out by the authors have been presented. The analysis indicates deficiencies in existing software, which can be the basis for developing guidelines for newly created applications.
