The presented study deals with the concept of Christian Charity within the context of socalled CaritasTheology (Caritaswissenschaft in German) regarding the parable of the Good Samaritan. It is based on article 31 in the encyclical letter Deus caritas est in which Benedict XVI mentions this concept, concerning help to those who need it most, in connection with this parable. The study compares the interpretation of the parable within CaritasTheology with his interpretation in the context of biblical exegesis and theology. This makes it possible to point out certain distortions occurring in the interpretation of the parable through CaritasTheology and the inspirational potential which the parable CaritasTheology has for the practice of Christian charity.
